Getting conflicting stories from area EB and GS, some saying the 4th, some saying it is taken from their systems so no more preordering, some say it's shipping and may be available Monday.

Who knows.

Damn. Just called up the Gamestops around here and they say the date has reverted back to the 4th. Ahh well. I doubt it was a mistake though. Either way, I'll just walk in and try to buy it from whoever has it the cheapest.

I just called the Best Buy in Memphis, and was told that Doom3 will be available on Aug 2nd.

So when they say "shipping 8/3" does that mean it'll be in stores that morning or they'll send it out that day, meaning that it'll arrive in the stores on 8/4?

You know what's gonna suck? The flood of losers that want to be the first ones on earth to poo poo the game and think they're way cool for saying that Doom 3 isn't very good. Like the current crop of posters (posers?) that are all like, "Who Else isn't impressed with Far Cry?"

Hello guys,

The game became available at Best Buy tonight, no joking! A whole display of 'em, for some odd 58 bucks. I work there, and I'm not sure how or why it showed up, but it did! We had some people in from other game stores wondering how it got there, I (a computer product specialist) had as little info as they did. But, it is out and about, so you guys know! It looks really cool, but is a bit pricey for me, and I don't have a computer powerful enough to handle it... yet!

Hi Guys, I'm slightly interested in getting the game. But I think I will wait to see how my PC can even handle the Demo, If/When that may ever come out.

But should I even get my hopes up about the full game? I have:

Abit IC7/P4c 3.0G/1GB Kingston HyperX PC3500 @ 2-2-2-5/120G WD SE Caviar 8MB Cache/ Audigy 2 ZS/ Klipsch ProMedia 2.1

BUT, my Video card is a PowerColor Radeon 9700 Pro. At a Minimum I want to operate the game @ 1024x768 with High Quality and at least 30fps

Can my card hack it?

What about a R9800 Pro, or is this still not enough?

I was also told that it is in stock at a Best Buy store, but I don't think they are supposed to sell them yet.....going to check it out in person tomorrow morning!

I just got back from Best Buy in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota with my copy of Doom 3. I wasn't looking to buy it, but it was right there ready for purchase. There was still a lot of them when I left the store at ~ 7:30 pm.

Sorry to hear that! I work at the BB in Brookfield, WI. Again, no idea how it got there... I guess I can't really prove it, other than I could describe the box and cardboard setup thingy. The setup shows that drewling demon dude on top, with a red glowing pentagram thing in the background.

The game box was somewhat dissappointing, with an open-up front cover, rambling about some company trying to master teleportation, and a special marine strike force gets sent in to fix the problem. Theres a big pic of that deon dude and some other guys coming through the portal. You can also see the player's character (I assume it's him) wearing some cool armor, looking all badass. On the back it just touches on some highlights... never-before-seen cinematic gaming, lifelike textures, something about dynamic lighting... it has a few screenshots. It does talk about multiplayer on there, and has a pic of what appears to be a closeup of another marine grunt. A few of my coworkers picekd it up today, along with a few customers. Again, I'm building a new computer, and until that's up and kicking I'm running a laptop... which in no way can handle this thing. I didn't even look at the specs, I'll check it out tomorrow when I go in again.

I don't suppose there's any other way to prove it, other than taking a photo, eh? I suppose I could snap one tomorrow, and if you guys need any other info, let me know! I'll get it for you guys.

Well, fine then! Every Best Buy has it! Bah! And I thought mine was all special! Anywho, I was talking to the guys in media who put it out there, they were talking about some kind of "Soft Release Date" ... which was today... which allowed them to put out the display today, even though it was before actual release date. Or something. I don't really deal with that stuff, I mainly just sell Emachines.

Just kidding, I get to work with kewl hardware stuff... alienwares, dual layers, satas ands such, makes the ole' mouth water. But I still dont know what a Soft Release Date is.

All I know is we're selling it... for like, 57 something dollars. How much did you pay for it, osan001? 57.86 or something? Crazy! What about a regular 49.99 or whatever? (But hey, BB will match other retailer's prices, so there's no need to go anywhere else!)
