** OFFICIAL DOOM 3 THREAD** - DOOM 3 1.1 PATCH RELEASED!

From a buddy who read the review:

There are a few spoilers and details on the "soulcube". Also, they pretty much reveal which locations you will visit (mars, hell, etc.)

System Requirements:

Keep in mind the issue has an entire article dedicated to system requirements questions.

PC Gamer recommends:
2Ghz CPU
512 MB ram
Radeon 9800
5-channel audio

Lowest supported GPU is a Geforce 4 MX (worse than Geforce 3)
Supported cards:
GF 4 MX
GF 3
GF 4
GF FX (and higher)
ATI 8500s, 9000s and higher

The only thing it says is that one test system had a GF 6800 (!) and it ran "flawlessly at 1024x768". Yikes! I need a new card.

They also go on to say "other quality and resolutions are available, but the PC to run it well isn't".

number of new baddies shown in the accompanying pictures. Some really wicked looking stuff. You can see the new Caccodeamon. Sweet!!!!! I can also tell you that there are shots showing some beautiful fireworks and special effects. Stuff flying all over the place. It simply looks great.

...more later.

I'd be more impressed with that 94% rating if it wasn't from the same magazine that gave Deus Ex: Invisible War an 88%. (If memory serves)

Man, this game had sooooo much hype, that a 94% review is almost kind of a let down.

Hehe. Well, not when they only list a few bad jokes in the "lows" section 😛

That game could have been soooo cool. I waited so long for it and all it was just a let down. The original deus ex was so cool.

I have a 128MB Radeon 9800 Pro, I wonder if this is enough. Far Cry seemed to stress it a little bit, very choppy anything over 1024 X 768 with all the graphics turned to highest.

Carmack is a rare breed of coder, wait and see what he's accomplished. My bet is you'll be fine.

Indeed. There's a lot of sloppy inefficient apps/games out there (the morrowind engine...and all of bethseda's engines for that matter come to mind) but Carmack seems to be devoted to making things work and making them work as fast as possible. When you realize that the game engines he's created are the heart of tons of games outside of ID's own titles you see that his contribution to our little hobby is pretty signifigant. My hats off to him.

Yea, Ubisoft is going down the crapper with all their goddamn security features integrated into their games.

so this guy on hardforum said they are gonna announce the game going gold before noon pst on thursday...remember the game has to go gold by the 20th to make its august 3rd release date.

I got my copy pre-ordered with overnight shipping in at ebgames.com. 🙂 There is no faster way to get a game. Free 2 day shipping is standard but I am totally willing to spend an extra $10 to have this before everybody else. If I was worried about price I would pick it up at Best Buy 3 weeks later after it finally shows up on their shelves.
