So I soldered the wires to my PCB today, and I think it went pretty well. As I described before, almost every contact has a very small hole in the center of it, and I was able to stick 22 gauge wire directly into it. So on most contacts, I inserted the wire up through the bottom, and soldered on top. The only ones I wasn't able to do this with was the shoulder bumpers, the ground next to the right trigger, and the A button.

I did have a little mishap with the X button. Too much solder got over on the other part of the contact. I tried reheating it and removing it, but there's still a bit there, but I can't tell if it'll be a problem or not.

Picture

You can kind of see it in this pic. Is there any way I can test this (and other) connections without having my pushbuttons yet? Or am I resigned to waiting it out until they come in the mail?

EDIT: Just realized I forgot to solder wires for the triggers.

On the slagcoin pic, it says "Set triggers to neutral." What does that mean?

As far as the triggers are concerned, did you take off that black plastic housing so you're down to the same thing as the slagcoin pic? If so then there's a little plastic wheel, and you just have to turn those so the 'notch' in the middle of the wheel is parallel with the connector you have to solder on to.

I have taken off the black housing, but didn't know about turning any wheels. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll solder those tomorrow night just to have it all done.

I feel like a dumb a$$, I went in Gamestop on the 16th and they had a couple for the 360 and PS3 waiting to be bought but no I didn't buy one. I didn't think they would sell like that to tell you the truth. I regret not getting one now.

GREAT POST MAN!!!!! With this article I was able to take the board out of my HORI stick and put it into my massystems box:) Everything works great except for one annoying thing... when i move the joystick in either direction it seems to double register. Sometimes even triple. So if im scrolling through a menu its a bit difficult to highlight what i want. as i pass it up. Not sure why this is happening. Anyone ever experience this?

I noticed stuff like this when I didn't have things grounded properly. Double check things are grounded properly all the way through and that your circuits make a complete loop.

Thanks for the reply!! Yes I believe thats it. With my ignornance I did purposely disconnect the ground loop. Basically what i did was replace a massystems board with a hori board for ps3 connectivity. The Mas baord has a ground however the hori board does not (that I could find.) I guess my question is what can I do in this scenario?

Anyone know if there's an adapter available that will allow me to use my dreamcast arcade stick for the ps3?

Two people have already answered your question elsewhere...

http://answers.yahoo.com/quest...=20090223083316AAkArMw

;) :p

wonder what'll happen with something like this though.

Text

If it works as described, it should easily work on the PS3.

EDIT: At least I think it should, I could be wrong.

Ya, I've seen a couple of these converters for sale (DC to USB) but they don't have any info on PS3 compatibility.

I think I found something:

Thanks for the help!

I plugged in my PCB to the 360 this afternoon and hopped into a 2-player SF4 match. Tested the connections I had soldered and everything seems to work so far.

Here's my preliminary mockup of how I want my button/stick placement: picture

Any comments or suggestions? Like I said earlier, I modeled this directly off the measurements from one of the layouts at slagcoin. The graphic is merely a placeholder to show the layout in a more interesting light. I'm not even sure if I want Ryu on the front or not :).

only suggestion i would make is to be careful w/the L2/R2 buttons.

like i was saying before, i got rid of mine completely cause my fingers would get out of place when I originally had them, and it would cause me to do completely wrong moves.

also, with a joystick, a button mapping to all 3 punches/kicks is not really necessary at all because it's easy to push all 3 at once.

however, your joystick has buttons that are curved, so getting "out of line" probably wouldn't happen in that layout.

me personally, i prefer the 2 straight rows, because that is what i grew up with in the arcades playing fighters such as street fighter, killer instinct, and tekken and MK (even though they only had 4 attack buttons, they weren't at offsets).

other tan that, it looks great :) cool artwork too.

I'm pretty good at keeping my fingers "home". Had I thought of it at the time I ordered, I probably would've ordered convex buttons for the main 6, and concave for the 3K/3P. Might still make that mod in the future. I also like having all 8 buttons on the face just for any future games that might make better use of them.

Sorry to get slightly off topic, but, for people that ordered recently from Lizard Lick, have you received your goods yet?

Nope. Ordered on the 19th. Apparently the guy has been absolutely swamped with orders, though. From what I've been reading over at SRK, if you ordered before the 15th or 16th and your order hasn't shipped yet, then you have something that is backordered. He's supposedly getting in a HUGE shipment of new stuff tomorrow (this info is straight from Lizard Lick's mouth over at SRK).

Awesome. Thanks for the update. I emailed them twice but haven't received a reply so I was getting kind of worried. I did know about the delay.

I've decided to just cancel my order and pick back up on this a month from now. The money I spent on these parts can be better used elsewhere, not sitting in LL's Paypal account. It's good and bad for Lizard Lick that his business absolutely exploded shortly before SF4 came out. There's no way he could have predicted the demand, but now he's got to adapt, and I don't think that after almost 3 weeks since this has started, he hasn't.

I'll be back to this thread in a month or two. I'm sure as hell not letting my perfectly working PCB go to waste.

Did you already receive your refund? I tried calling the guy but his voicemail box is full. I've already sent two emails, last one stating if the parts are not sent out in this week that I would like a refund. Also stated if I don't hear an answer back within this week I would be forced to file a Paypal complaint.

Nope, not yet. I sent one email to the support@lizardlick.com email address. If this guy can't get his shit together and issue a refund, then I'll file a Paypal complaint as well. All the assbags at SRK want to defend him and such and tell everybody to just be patient, but if this guy can't handle simple customer service issues, then maybe he needs to quit taking orders, period.

Did you send your refund request email to support@ or sales@? I still haven't heard anything back.
