Not sure if it's been posted in this thread yet, but if your game slowness (FPS not lag) is happening during Maghda (act II), it might be caused by your antivirus software. Microsoft Security Essentials realtime protection goes nuts during this encounter. It must see something in the executable it doesn't like.

Blizz knows about it, but hasn't fixed it yet. There are a couple of other av software out there that do the same thing.

To fix it in MSE, I just added Diablo III.exe to the process exclusion and it's fine now. You could also just turn off realtime scanning during this boss battle.

I went and bought myself a manticore and dead man's legacy, and got rid of sharpshooter on my DH. Went from 185k DPS with sharpshooter (48k with it off), to ~118k dps with it off. I also swapped my bracers for ones with more crit chance.

I also replaced hungering arrow with bola shot, and use the stun rune with it. I've also switched the spike traps scatter rune with the echoing blasts (plant 1 trap and it goes off 3 times).

I figure this will help with the ubers. Hit them with the bola to stun them in place, plant three spike traps under them, and have each go off 3 times.

post the profiles, i'd be interested to see them both

It is possible that what you are seeing from him is buffed DPS numbers. Go to a site like diabloprogress.com to see correct values.

Yeah that seems to be the case. I couldn't figure it out because our stats/gear are similar. He has 300 more dex and slightly more atk speed but that doesn't account for a 110k difference. Also I'm doing 583% CD. I guess he's pretty high too with 538%.

You'll have trouble finding a 110k DPS gap inbetween those profiles, people have told me his numbers are cooked though. Here's his profile at DiabloProgress http://www.diabloprogress.com/hero/ste8030-1793/Syker/19150533

97k unbuffed. He's juicing! Dammit. And all along I thought I could make a monk that did 200k dps, but it was all a dirty lie! He's still better than me but not 110k DPS better 😛

Ah well, I never put too much stock in the DPS meter that Blizzard offers. I pass the eye test with flying colors, doing a buttload of damage quickly so I'm happy.

158k DPS unbuffed with passives
92k HP
10k Armor
20% Dodge
800-900 Life Regen
650-720 Resist

So I hit 60 on my barb and geared him up a little. Any ideas what I should do next? Also, how do I keep Wrath up? I've only just started Inferno on him (MP1 through SK without so much as chugging 1 pot). I sniped my rings and weapons from my monk to start me off so save money. I also got a poor man's Mempho. What should I be looking for?

It's not as easy as Patch 1.04 to keep WoTB up due to the nerf with Run like the wind. To compensate, you need at least 40% crit chance, 12-24% movespeed and decent attack speed. To do higher MPs efficiently, try to aim for:

40-50k HP
80k-100k Unbuffed DPS
500 All Resist
6k Armor

Yeah, I am a bit low on most of those. I have 66k unbuffed DPS, 44% crit, only 12% move speed (I'm not sure what besides boots to get it on except for Lucanis which are out of my price range), 542 lowest resist, and 64% damage reduction.

Well there is a 300 dex difference and that's a multiplier so that could account for some of it. Maybe something in how the order of how damage is calculated makes his extra 300 worth so much more?

I got myself a Manticore a few weeks back. You can get a pretty damn good one for less than 5 million usually. Dead Man's, I got last week, is harder to get cheaper if you want AS over 15%. I actually found one, but it was a POS with 12% AS. Other stats were fine though.

I tried using spike traps for a while and they were generally good. Planting 3 in a doorway was shit fun. However, because it isn't instant, and a lot of times a trap or two fails to go off, and one trap's damage is relatively low. I went back to cluster arrow and my Dead Man has a 5 hatred reduction for the skill, so add on the passive that reduces hatred by 10, and I can shoot those pretty quick. Doesn't hurt to regen 9.3 hatred/s too.

The differences in numbers is probably from his skills that he popped.
Flash/Breath of Heaven + Mantra overawe

You can find a cheap pair of Lacuni's. The run speed us awesome.

I found a lacuni prowler a few weeks back and it had pretty shitty stats. Couldn't even sell it for 2M.

Decided to just keep it for my barb that I'm leveling.

Yeah the scatter rune is nice because you can plant 3 traps at the same time (for the same cost... 3x 275% weapon damage for 30 hatred is pretty awesome), and combined with marked for death - grim reaper, you can do massive AoE damage to mobs. However, against single hard targets, it's not necessarily the best.

This is why I've switched runes to echoing (blast?). You set one trap and it goes off 3 times. I've also gone with the stun bola to see if I can stun the guy in place so he sits on the trap.

We'll see how it goes when I get a chance to run an uber.

What the hell?!?!

I just tried playing for the first time in a while these past 2 days and I keep getting "network disconnect."

It's extremely annoying to just get your 5 stacks and then have it randomly disconnect. It has happened 3-4 times now.

Anyway, do you guys feel magic find gear is worth while still if you are at a very low paragon level?

Also, what is more efficient, MP0 and faster runs or MP2-3 and obviously slower runs?

He also has more crit damage and better weapons. That could account for some of the difference.

I have more crit dmg than my monk buddy, he has 532% and I have like 583% or something, but he has a better offhand. Overall he's just a better monk but I got confused when I saw a 110k DPS difference, but those numbers were cooked so i feel better 😛 - Anyhow, best to use diabloprogress instead of the blizz's online profile dealie. Diablo progress is much more detailed. Although it's hard to really measure the DPS a monk puts out, don't know if any system could accurately measure it. I spam overawe when playing my monk but that doesn't show up in the DPS (extra 48% dmg to enemies around me, for me and the party), and it doesn't count all the dmg my crit tornadoes do. Just gotta give em the eye test and see how much damage they are contributing.

That said, I've been thinking about changing to a Barb for my main. Never been super satisfied with my monk and have spent a bajillion gold on him. And most importantly playing the same class endlessly can get dull. I guess the first step is to get a barb to 60 and see how i like it, which shouldn't take too long these days. Will equip a str hellfire on him, give him exp bonus stuff, MP10 and away I go 😛

12 legendaries since the patch release and theyre pretty much crap outside of one or two items. Gonna double my dps next and use all the left over int gear for my wizz. im still only making 5 million every two or three days and thats if I play for quite a few hours. What kinna gear will make me gold the fastest? MF gear or GF?
