I'm getting pretty excited, it is looking more and more like the rumors of a short beta followed by the game going gold is accurate. The beta is to short to hold testers attention for long, and the amount of information being put out is constant with the beta being more of a marketing strategy then a bug squishing iteration. So, get online and crash those servers so we can have a stable release!

My prediction is that D3 will have gone gold by this time October.

That would be nice. The biggest thing (to me) lending weight to that rumor is that there's currently no NDA.

They're definitely squashing some major bugs though, like the Public Games feature not working (lol). They're disabling that feature in the next patch til they get it resolved. Hope it's out soon but also that they've done enough testing.

I got so giddy over Diablo 3 that I reinstalled Diablo 2...wow I'm sad.

You're not the only one. I've been playing D2 again a little over a week...actually am trying hardcore this time, since I have no existing characters/mules with gear to worry about. I still find the game fun...just gotta give it a few years break at times 😀!

Just as a heads up, it looks like you must have a WoW or SC2 key tied to your account to have a chance of playing the beta.

This reply by Bashiok on the Bnet forums lets us know that the "SC2 or WoW needed for a valid D3 beta opt-in" is false. Any valid Blizzard game key attached to your account works. That link should work, but I typed it out on my desktop from the address on my phone, so sorry if I made a typo lol.

With a purchased game attached to your profile... I ordered DII and will use that, but by then I likely won't get a beta copy D:

D2 and I have a love/hate relationship. I have bought and thrown away the battlechest 5 times. I get so amazingly frustrated at the game in the high levels, but then a year or two goes by and my friends want to try it out again. So I rebuy it. The cycle continues.

Yep, my one friend keeps track... it is kind of like Starcraft for me. Man do I hate that game, yet I still play it on occasion.

That's why I NEVER sell back games. You never know when you may want to play it again.

Also, I can't stand the idea of selling back a $50-60 game to a retail store for $8 so that they can then turn around and sell it to someone else for $40.

Yup, complete bullshit in my opinion.

I used to sell games on forums and stuff for maybe 10$ off a few weeks after release, but thanks to DRM/Activation, it killed that.

There is a ton of info out there, just not in this thread. There are streams and tons of videos on youtube on top of blogposts everywhere.
