In case you guys don't know, running Core of Arreat on T1 / T2 and skipping everything but elites, chests, and goblins is currently the best way to farm legendaries.

Appreciate the info. I'd read a guy was running the whole game on Master in about an 90 minutes on the D3 forums and finding 4-5 legendary/set items each time, but I'd much rather do the Arreat Core without having to run around looking for stuff to advance the quests.

Yeah, running on T1 is very fast and good drops. In the 2 hours I played last night, I got like 6 legendaries (two of which happen to be upgrades, and two happen to be an awful mace); the last half hour or so I found zero.

Are you running MF gear? I have a sun keep, MF rings/ammy on my templar and some on my neck. Sitting around 110 total but I dunno if that actually plays into the torment system the same as the old way.

Nope. It is all about killing elites. The more you kill, the more legendaries you get. Even upping the Torment level doesn't help (unless you don't lose speed in killing by doing so). In T6, you probably have a much better chance at getting a legendary, however, you also will kill like 1/20th of the elites in the same time as you would in T1. So, unless the drop rate is 20x higher, you're better off doing T1.

Mobs per hour is what you want. And T1 Core seems to be the most efficient, as it is a small, linear area with a checkpoint that leads to a waypoint and 3+ elites per run.

I run this **** now 20 or 25 times in a row on T2 and later T1, I didn't get ONE single legendary. So: NO

IMHO this is information which was current pre-last patch, but they nerfed either leg drops in general or this particular route.

You were complaining earlier that boss packs are worthless for drops, but several of us know that isn't the case. And smack just gave a first hand account of having success with that run. Why so doomsdayish?

I'll run a few hours tonight to see. I've found most of my legendaries so far from bosses after clearing several areas. SK dropped two at once on one run.

Put in a join request. Played for the first time in months. My char needs a lot of work. Level 60 Barb...
The new loot system is nice. I found more legend in an hour that i did in my whole run to 60.

I definitely see adding stunlocks in with my monk with RoS.

I'm already doing this right now with Wave of Light: Blinding Light. Cyclone>Wave of Light = super easy exp. ^^

I tried running a MF build (245) and got very few improvements for the amounts of rares, and didn't notice any improvements on legendaries.

You have better chances for getting legendaries from elites/champions/bosses, of course, however, the primary notion that was, and still is, is numbers. The more you kill, the more you'll see.

He gave a first hand (??) account or did he just cite someone from a forum?

All I can tell is that I run core up and down yesterday for approx. 2-3 hours and not one single leg dropped from anywhere, not from a pack, goblin or a chest. It's not that I am making this up..I mean I am just reporting what I experienced.

The best way to get to legs IMHO is still just joining a good public group and run the usual stuff.

Also..I THINK they nerfed drops since last Tuesday..I just remember rates better before the last hotfix but may be wrong.

Yeah, and gold isn't hard to find. I started the patch with 1.097 billion gold. Since then, I have around 1.17 billion and have not used the AH. I made around 10 million just from farming and that is why crafting gems and removing stuff around.

I am debating selling 500 million on the RMAH, just to buy RoS. It was like $100 per billion when they reenabled it.

How do you end up with a billion in the first place??? never had more than 20 millions

I agree. I seem to get legendary/set items dropped on regular intervals, but sometimes it is not regular. Kinda streaky. This probably sounds obvious, but I imagine the best way to farm legendaries is with a group of people you trust to just share items that they don't currently want for a character, with the 2-hour time limit and all.

I am running around with about 100% MF, but I'm looking to just drop that and add items with more damage. It's way easier now to find gear that ups your toughness but not your damage output. I'm using a few items that total 25% more damage on Wave of Force with the Heat Wave rune and I can crit for about 1 mil. My gear is so-so.

A dude purchased an echoing fury for 10 mil a few days before the patch. Then he got to looking at what one with those stats normally sells for, and realized what he good deal it had been...so he flipped it for almost 400 mil and posted pics on reddit.

That's an extreme case, but that's the gist of how you get billions. Buy low from folks who don't know what it will sell for, sell high.

The other day I found three legendary's in one night (Three different acts, on Master). Last night I played for longer and found none. I only found one decent rare, everything else was junk.

So, kind of hit and miss.

Quite a bit of AH flipping. I also followed the gem market. Right before a patch that was supposed to stop gem dupes, I bought a bunch of the super cheap Radiant Stars (they we selling at like 50% cost to make) and after the patch, they spiked to 30+ mil. Every patch saw a spike in gem prices for a few weeks, so I'd buy them up and flip them.

During the gold dupe fiasco, I had a good amount of gems to sell and sold them for like a ton. I ended up with just over 16 billion when I quit. I sold 15 billion for money and left myself a little if I decided to come back.

Last night I got a new Leorics and it rolled crit. 28% increased XP and a socket! Will be decent for leveling I suppose. I really need a good Hellfire ring. Anyone up for some ubers this evening? I have 7 machines and some keys.

I think I'm going to disbanded the clan. Not a single person joined yet and they all said they are joining. Do you guys know how to join? :S
(EU)

I just don't think there are a lot of people on EU. Heck, even the US server has like 3 people in the community tops.

Really, there has been like 5 of us in this thread, keeping it alive. We get occasional "omg Diablo 3 sucks!" post, but it has been mostly the same few people.

Why can't you convert yourself to EU baaaaah! :'(

A friend and I started playing this again. They definitely have improved it significantly (if the game had released in this state, I'd be disappointed but wouldn't feel straight up ripped off like I did) but I don't think its enough to hold my interest for too long, and while the Adventure mode sounds interesting I'm not planning on ponying up $40 for the expansion (I have a hunch my friend will though).
