You need to put out more info for folks to help you here.
How do you know the ram slots don't work?
When / how did the audio go out? Using a sound board or are you referring to the onboard sound?
DFI-Street Thread
Some thoughts:
1) The 2-4 slots (orange) work best we are told, however there are tons of boards out there and only a few memory slot prblems - most of which have to do with improper setttings on the board. There are a lot of jumpers - read the (poor) manual or check on DFI-Street threads. Also note that there is a known issue with Kingston memory and this board.
2) Check the Karajan rear module to be sure it is well seated if you have lost the on-board audio. Plus it never hurts to make sure your speakers are ok - their power supply, etc. Best way to check are to try hem on another known-good system.
3) After checking your memory, speakers and Karajan module, CAREFULLY pull your CPU HSF off and check to make sure you haven't over-used the thermal paste. Then VERY CAREFULLY pull the CPU and look for burnt pins

If the board is recently purchased, and you are sure you haven't done something wrong like get memory that is not the right type (again see the DFI-Street thread for the full list of recommended memory) or not seated, etc. and you have checked the memory in another computer and found that it is good, then quit wasting time and RMA the board. No manufacturer ever puts out 100.0% perfect boards, and some get damaged in packing and handling.

At DFI-Street, there are good guides for PSU/RAM requirements on the Ultra-D. However, it says quite specifically that the PC 4000+ is a requirement if you are going to overclock. I know you guys will think I'm a wimp, but... I don't want to overclock. I just got an X2 3800+ from Flickerdown and I just want a good system with quality components that runs well at stock.

I bought 2 X 512 OCZ Premier Series PC 3200 2.5-3-3-7... this was before I knew that 2 GB is getting to be the standard. I was planning on buying two more (1 matched set) for 4 sticks = 2 GB.

Is this RAM in this board a really bad idea? Also, is 4 sticks to get 2 GB asking for trouble for a newb builder using this board?

If you're not overclocking at all then running all 4 banks should be no problem at all
 
1 major question

why is there 2 PCI-E x16 slots when it's not even a SLI Mobo? i know you can Mod it into a SLI board but if it's not meant for SLI then why 2 slots?

Ok so I have the Lanparty UT Ultra-D and everything is groovy, except for the USB performance. I've installled the USB drivers that came wih the package CD, but when connecting my iPod Windows reports that the USB port "Is not high speed and could run faster", or something to that effect. It is also painfully slow at transferring songs to the iPod. Is this a common problem with nf4 mobo's? Is there a solution?

And also- does anyone know how to use MotherboardMonitor 5 with this mobo?
 
Welcome to the Forums. I believe the USB drivers that came with are for Win98, at least for the early boards they were. Try uninstalling them & using the Windows drivers. There is a way to run MBM5, if you can't find the files here try DFI Street or Extreme Systems.
 
I'm not sure which drivers to uninstall... Device Manager shows two sets of USB controllers, the 1st one contains "Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller", Usb Composite Device and USB Root Hub, and the 2nd one contains PCI class USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller and USB 2.0 Root Hub Device. I have the external USB ports connected, could one of these relate to those ports?

Edit: I have tried using the case ports, however it shows the same windows message and still performs slowly. Just as an example: It took 18 hours to fill my 60gb iPod!

If you're running 2k or better with the lastest service paks, uninstall 'em all and let windows choose...

hello everyone.
i've just recently put together a new computer
amd x2 4400+
2 gb kit of mushkin samung xp4000 ram (uccc)
leadtek geforce 7800gt win xp with sp2

ive installed the latest nforce 4 drivers, vid card drivers, chipset drivers thinking it would fix my problem but it hasnt.
( i've flashed my mobo to latest bio already just to make the damn system post! (incompatible ram, even though dfi-street said it was compatible??)

the problem is, my computer will only reset properlyevery 2 attemps.

if i am in windows and do reset (from windows) it will freeze with one red indicator led on
i noticed, that it doesnt count the ram at all.
If im using windows and do shutdown, the next time i turn it on it will also freeze at the start, sometimes after checking ram, somtimes before.

when it DOES freeze, i just press reset, and everything works normally again.

so alternativley every second reset my computer will boot? I have run prime95 and memtest, my cpu and memory have no errors

does anyone know what the problem is? ( i got a feeling its the dual channel ram ?)

Hi & welcome. What Psu are you using? Are all 4 pwr connections made? What are temps? Are you overclocking, volting anything? What slots are RAM in, have you tried different slots or 1 stick? Have you tried eliminating extras & booting with min. hardware? You can boot with board out of case to eliminate the possibility of a short.

using an antec trupower 2 550watt
yeh ive plaugged all 4 power connectors in and i am using it out of the box
all i have atatched is a dvd rom and 1 sata hdd ( fresh win xp install with sp2)
ive tried detaching cd rom -same problem

my rams are in slots 2 and 4 ( it wont work in the yellow slots )
i havent tried 1 stick, cause the cpu cooler is in the way..cant get it out unless i take it off ( which is a b1tch to!)

this is driving me crazy
when i can boot,,eveything runs sweet...im not o/c everything is at stock


yay i fixed it: it was the bloody ram!!! (works fine on every 2nd boot...like wtf lol)

Try changing the memory timing to 2T.
(Check the manual, but I think that it's Genie BIOS, Command Per Clock Disabled)
And you could also try upping the memory voltage.
 
DFI does not official support opteron...

Look at my sig..I am running the 623-2 bios and it recognizes my 170 as a opteron 170 on post screen

the opterons work fine
 
the dfi ultra d has a psu requirement of 485w. Does this value really matter? Because i plan to purchase a fortron fsp 450w with it. Will this be compatible? I'll be running 1hd, 1burner, 1 floppy.
 
Hello... I have 1 weird problem on my dfi lanparty nforce 4 sli-dr motherboard.
Everytime my system is overclocked every 2-3hours I hear a short and loud ''BEEP'' from the PC. It irritates. I tryed to change BIOS but the problem remains. Now I have a 702-1 BIOS. 2 weeks ago I changed my RAM, I haid 2x512MB DDR400 GEIL value, now I have 1x1gb super talent DDR400 (it has samsung's tccc chips) and again, the same irritating sound every 2-3hours. The system is stabile (tested with super pi 32mb) . Right now it is overclocked on 2600MHz and ram on 520MHz (3-4-4-8). My processor is cooled with Freezer64 and the load temp is 42°c (cpu 1.52v)
Here's the full system spec:
Athlon 3200 E3
DFI lan party nforce 4 sli-dr @ blue zalman chipset cooler (passive, temp 44°c)
1gb super talent samsung tccc (2.7v)

edit: Oh, I forgot to tell that my vga is in the 2nd PCI-E slot, because of the chipset cooler it doesn't fit in the 1st one. The jumpers are set to sli combination.

But the nf4-D boards can?

I am so confused about all these boards with almost identical names... So the nf4-D boards are replacemented to the ultra-D? If not, why would those boards beable to take X2 but ultra-d cant?

I'm with you dude; DFI's naming is so damn confusing. I just bought an X2 4200 and I don't know which board to get 😛
 
What are chipset & system temps? Are you using Cool&Quiet? What did you change in BIOS? Does it still do it when at stock speeds? Have you run MemTest? You might want to use a mem divider.

cpu is idle 32 load 42
pwmic 34°c right now
chipset 45°c (it is a little lower room temp that's why)
on 12v rail I have 11.9v, 3.3v = 3.29v, 5v = 5.08v
I don't use C&Q.
I changed just the boot sequance, enabled SMART (for hard disks) and in the overclock page in the BIOS. I don't remember anything else that I changed.
It doesn't do the beep sound at stock speeds. Worked with mem deviders, again the same thing.
I will run mem-test but I am a little busy right now, I will run it laters and post the results.
