Assuming you get ram the board likes, it should just work. The most you might have to do is a bios flash to the newest bios.

Well it looks like my best bet is to reinstall windows at this point.

Is there a step by step instructions for how I should go about this?

I've upgraded my sig to show what I'm working with.

Thanks
Cowboy

P.S. I can't get DFI Street to load or the pdf HERE

I cannot figure out the difference between the:

DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR
and the:
DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR
except for the "UT"

these are listed on Newegg as 2 different products. Also, how is the SLI-D different than the SLI-DR?

Can't figure out which is the better buy and why.... ?!?!?

I'm pretty sure the UT doesn't come with a few extras (like the FrontX thingy). The DR models come with an aditional 4 sata ports (sata 2?) for a total of 8, while the D models have only the standard 4 from the nforce4 chipset.

Can someone PLEASE give me a rundown on the differances between the LANPARTY AMD (939) boards, all the D and DR etc. Its a pain living in South Africa, one can only get some of the boards, so I really need help.

DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-D

Can get that for a pretty good price, should I?

Wanted the DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-DR, but it TOO expensive...

PLEASE HELP

I just did in the post above yours. Is there anything else you'd like to know?

Only get the sli version if you plan on using sli at some point, otherwise stick with an ultra version, which is exactly the same except it uses the ultra, not sli, chipset.

DFI NF4 Ultra Infinity
DFI NF4 SLI Infinity
DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-D

Those are the only ones I can get (that falls in my price range) . I wanted the DFI Lanparty Nforce 4 Ultra-D but I cant find it in South Africa.

So out of THAT sorry looking list I'm opting for the DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-D, is that a wise choice? The only other boards I can get in that price range is ABIT Fatal1ty or the A8N Ultra, not so keen on the ABIT boards though. Choosing between them, because of the onboard sound. Wanted to go for the MSI Diamond but thats WAY too expensive.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I figured I would try. On my case I have what appear to be external audio and mic ports (I think) and there is a cable which I need to connect to the motherboard somewhere, but for the life of me I can't figure out where it should go. I don't have the cable visible right now, but if it helps, the part that connects to the motherboard says Audio on it and is two rows of pins. Any help is appreciated (and no it's not the usb cord).

Standby and Hibernation problems using Ultr-D and Venice 3000+

Standby (S3) -

(a) Upon wake up, the cpu is back at running at default speed (I have the cpu run 293x9 but upon wakeup, it is back to running 9x200, it is an Venice 3000+)

(b) can only wake up using power buttons (mouse, keyboard cannot wake it up)

Hibernation -

(a) sometimes it does not work at all (not enough resources to run API) but this is a common problem for any systems with 1mb memory or more.

I know most people probably don't mess around with Standby or Hibernation on a desk top system but I like to use hiberaation and it worked great on my other systems. (this is my only A64 system though).

Kinda a noobish question, but even though it's not explicitly stated on DFI's site, would the nf4 Ultra-D board work with an Athlon X2 processor?

Extx: I have standby issues, but they're different. If I put my system into standby, it instantly BSODs. Luckily I never use it.

Chacranajxy: yes, it supports an X2, you just have to flash to the newest bios to make sure it will recognize both of the X2s cores.

Hi!
I am planning to buy the DFI SLI-DR soon for max OC....but....I have several questions for you DFI guys: Is the Chipset HS fan very loudy/noisy as the ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe's? In that case, What thermal solution would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Do you have problem with hibernation?

Most people don't use these but I hate to close out all applications and turn off the pc so I just let it rest (standby or hibernation) when I go to bed or stop using the pc for awhile. With so many pc in the house, it actually saves me some $$ (I use to leavbe most of my pc on 24 hours a day).

To me it's not. Like now I have cpu & system fan slowed down & chipset fan is full on & it's no problem with the noise.

I just put a system together with the DFI nF4 ultra-D and a 4800 X2 and can't get anything to happen. I thought the motherboard may have been bad, so I bought a new one this evening and planned on RMA'ing the old one, but it does the same thing with the new board(nothing) Going to search and read some more now(hope my cpu is ok)
