Does anyone know if 4 sticks of ram would hurt my overclock at all? Its a winny @ 2457mhz (273x9). I've only got the memory at 204.75mhz by using a 3:4 divider and don't mind using 2T timings.

Well, I haven't tightened the timings at all, but I dont' think I'd mind loosening the timings. Quantity > performance in this case, IMO. What kind of a performance impact would disabling interleaving have?

I have noticed the same thing with the latest bios, also I seem to have lost sound. I'm assuming you are overclocked... i'm guessing they broke the PCI lock with this bios, since I think sound, sata 3&4, and the nvidia NIC are all clocked from the PCI bus. The marvel connects thru the pci-e bus I think, so it makes sense that it works. I'm going to have to try tonight at stock speed and see if my devices come back. Does anyone know if there is a setting to specify PCI speed? I can't seem to find one...

Most likely I am also going to have to go back to the prvious bios.

Hmm, guess I wasn't getting the facts straight in my head. First, in Linux I found both NICs work, so it turns out that it wasnt the PCI lock after all. I flashed back to the 3/10, and to my dismay sound still didn't work. I ended up reseating the sound module, which is a real pain since it involves taking off my rear fan and lifting the whole mobo to do that, but it did work. I am now flashed back to the 623-3 bios and all is well. Sound got screwed up at the same time as the bios flash because I don't keep the floppy attached all the time, and had to install it to do the flash, and probably nudged somthing the broke the sound while I was trying to get that damn floppy cable in that sideways facing port. So I take back my criticism of the 623-3 bios. Its all working well now.

So you did just took the sound module out and sat it right back again? You didn´t need to buy a new sound module?

I've replaced mine iwth a Iceberq4 by Vantec, but its not really that great. 3 - 4 degrees maybe? The stock chipset is more than enough says AngryGames and RGone @ DFI Street.

It'll work with the newer bioses. Not sure what bios they ship with, but you should be able to boot it with whatever bios it ships with and flash it to a newer one.

What is the maximum amount of memory supported by these motherboards? I am thinking of getting one. I believe the ASUS A8N SLI supports 4GB and it is one of the boards I am considering.

Hi ya,

I have just set up my DFI Lanparty SLI-DR mobo and currently the mobo just cant seem to boot up. The diagnostic LED stop blinking at the CPU Detected condition and just hang... Iam a newbie in PC building and this is my second ( my first went well though)...I just dont know what to do anymore...oh yeah by the way I am using a 380Watt PSU...do you think I need to change my PSU or anything? I have already check everything and are currently at lost....please help..

My first attempt also failed. The board is particular about where you put your memory. Use a pair of sticks in the orange slots and nothing in the yellows to start with

you will need to provide specs

I used only the yellow slots and never had an issue with my ram..my ram stick were 2 x 512 OCZ PC3200 gold

....I switched to Crucial valuram 2 x 1gb also still in yellow slots with no issues

what bios are you using...I am using 623-2

The board is very finicky with settings etc

they recommend very good PSUs as well to power this mobo

24 pin is a must ...as is plugging in the extra floppy and 4 pin molex(although I must admit I did not do this initially and my OCZ Powerstream 520W still powered the mobo)

PM me if you need help

The board will support any single PCIe video card (ati or nvidia) but it will only support dual nvidia cards. That means you can't run dual x800xl's.

I am running 4GB on 32bit Windows XP using the /3GB boot.ini switch.

On the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe 3.1GB is available to windows
On the DFI-Lanparty UT Ultra-D it is 3.5GB!

Having much better results with the DFI across the board, ASUS has several issues.

Can't wait for 64 bit Windows to be mature....

i have msi neo2 plat, amd 64 3200+, ati 9800 pro softmodded to xt , 2 sata drive and 2 dvd-r drive.

i just bught antec smartpower 2.0 500w yesterday.

it read 3.30 on 3.3v , 4.89 on 5v and 12.50v on 12v.

i want to know if the 12v normal because the 12v is too high.

i am going to build dfi nforce4 board, same cpu, 7600gt.

do you think if it is enough or not.

Space Cowboy: read through your thread, I'm somewhat confused as to what your actual problem is. Have you tried updating the bios to newer ones?

rickyman: Are those voltage readings from the bios or from a multimeter? If they're from the bios, take them with a grain of salt, because the bios always reads voltages incorrectly. That powersupply should handle yoru new rig fine.

How hard is it to install this mobo and get it working? I think I know the basics of overclocking and the relevant BIOS settings (in theory). However I saw a lot of reviews on newegg saying 'do not buy this board if you are not an expert overclocker" and that sort of thing. I am willing to invest time researching relevant info but I am not an expert.

Overclocking is not mandatory, The options are there if you want but they have auto settings so dont sweat that. I'm no mad oc'er either & it's been a great board for me.
