Second problem, I have a Raid setup on the Sata 1&2 works fine, I also have a single 160 gig on Sata #3 nothing on 4.
After the flash I could no longer see the 160gb drive. Tried ever setting I could in bios no luck. I also noted that the Optical drives were redected in the bios on every boot. I tried manualy adding them they showed up fine, on a reboot they were gone again and redetected. After a day of waisting time I tried to reflash the new bios again still same problems, flashed back to 310 and no more problems. Lan works Sata drive on #3 is back and optical drives are saved.
I dont see how this could be a problem with just my system, but its a problem non the less.

I have noticed the same thing with the latest bios, also I seem to have lost sound. I'm assuming you are overclocked... i'm guessing they broke the PCI lock with this bios, since I think sound, sata 3&4, and the nvidia NIC are all clocked from the PCI bus. The marvel connects thru the pci-e bus I think, so it makes sense that it works. I'm going to have to try tonight at stock speed and see if my devices come back. Does anyone know if there is a setting to specify PCI speed? I can't seem to find one...

Most likely I am also going to have to go back to the prvious bios.

i like the 5.10-2 myself. they would have been official if they hadn't come out during the whole cold boot issue.

Hmm, guess I wasn't getting the facts straight in my head. First, in Linux I found both NICs work, so it turns out that it wasnt the PCI lock after all. I flashed back to the 3/10, and to my dismay sound still didn't work. I ended up reseating the sound module, which is a real pain since it involves taking off my rear fan and lifting the whole mobo to do that, but it did work. I am now flashed back to the 623-3 bios and all is well. Sound got screwed up at the same time as the bios flash because I don't keep the floppy attached all the time, and had to install it to do the flash, and probably nudged somthing the broke the sound while I was trying to get that damn floppy cable in that sideways facing port. So I take back my criticism of the 623-3 bios. Its all working well now.

it's erroring even on stock speeds :( yesterday i changed ram slots to orange and i got less errors, when i changed timings to 2-4-4-6 i got no errors (without any OC) i think ram speed was DDR401 and voltage 2.5 ( i don't remember, maybe i changed it to 3.5V, but i tested it on both voltages...)

well, they should run at rated speeds and timings, if they don't contact mushkin and rma them.

The Nforce/N-Force 4 (NF4) built in Active Armor firewall causes issues to many users. The general consensus is to disable/uinstall completely to completely. Here is a search for "active armor" on forums.nvidia.com

text

Best way to do this is to uinstall Network Access Manager(NAM):
Active Armour is part of Network Access Manager. It is installed with that. Nvidia Network Access Manager should be in your add remove progams list.. Uninstall that and its gone

My gigabyte lan socket still works even with NAM uninstalled.

What NVIDIA drivers are you using? I'm having the same problem with the new system I just built. I can't get the Marvell or the NVIDIA LAN , or a Etherfast LAN card to connect to the internet. I just flashed with 623 BIOS from 125.

I just got a question, what temperature is dangerous for the nForce 4 ? cuz, I had an A7N8X before, and at 45 celcius it was dangerous, but I see my nFoce 4 running at 40-45...

Re.: Nailzer

Im currently using 623-3(i assume it the same as yours). I device manager ive got both the Marvell yukon 88e8001/8003/8010 PCI gigabit ethernet controller(connected to my cable modoem) and the NVidia nForce netwroking Controller(connected to my XBox)

Re.:Mari0Br0s

With my current config, my temps are consistantly at CPU 31 c, PWMIC 35 c, Chipset 41 c.

BTW can someone locate the PWMIC ive tried but cant seem to locate it.

Stock is probably good as any. If your going to mod it you can replace the bubble gum with a good paste. I've seen cut down sinks used as a passive solution. I'm working on a exhaust type based on a Zalman sink.

Hi Guys,

thinking of swapping my troublesome Asus A8N-SLI deluxe to the DF Ultra-D. (last time I buy a MB in a hurry without reading the forums!)

My only concern is that my memory - 4 x 1G Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2 is not listed as compatible on the Corsair or DFI lists. The 512 is there.

My ASUS had a minor issue where it would set it to 333MHz on AUTO when the 4 sticks were in, but later BIOS version ran it just fine at 400MHz.

Is this the same problem? Will I be fine or is this stupid, asking for it, and suicidal?

Thats not a problem with the motherboard, thats what they are supposed to do. The official specs for all pre-venice chips (ie, all but venice, san diego, and the X2's) are supposed to run 4 sticks of ram at DDR333 and 2T timings. You can almost manually set that to DDR400 speeds, but you still have 2T timings (which really isn't that bad).

Thanks for that. So that implies if my RAM isnt in the safe list then it has another problem then?

He's telling you that the memory controller is in the CPU not the motherboard. It may be that your particular mem hasn't been tested by them yet.
