Considering it's literally a 5 minute part once in the entire game, and you hit it fairly early on. It's not really a spoiler, doesn't spoil anything about the story at all.

Saw on NeoGAF where another X1 user had this same issue. He found it was due to him leaving the game suspended in the background while doing other stuff, then coming back. This is what I typically do, as I'll switch over to TV and come back hours/days later to my game. He found that if he closed the game completely and went back in, people were now populating in.

I'm not sure if this is a one-time bug or if it will continue to happen.

Maybe that's what happened to me in the beta too on ps4.

Damn i had no idea Bungie wa originally planning Destiny to be a fantasy open world rpg, this would have been way better!

So without knowing much at all about Destiny other than it being an open-world multiplayer shooter, I went ahead and downloaded the 360 version. With the deal to upgrade for free to the Xbox One version, I figured what the heck, I'll get a One someday, that's kind of a deal. Sorta.

Seems alright so far, definitely has a Borderlands feel to it which is good, as I'm a huge Borderlands fan. It's not as fast paced and hectic as Borderlands. Also there's not nearly the loot that Borderlands has. But I'm only level 8, either of those things could change.

I sorta like the random multiplayer drop-in aspect, although I haven't found a whole lot of teamwork happening with random matchups so far. Everyone seems to have their own agenda and so I've found myself going at it alone anyway.

Given the hype surrounding the game I guess I'm a little underwhelmed, but it's fun so far. I'll keep playing and see what happens.

Borderlands for me felt like I was just stuck in a vast open desert. I got bored just roaming around and sometimes lost lol. Destiny does have a lot of loot, you just dont get it in the beginning since its scaled to your level.

What is a decoherant engram?

They contain green, blue, or purple gear. They can also give you a Mote of light or a Strange coin. Maybe more stuff, but that's what i've gotten from them.

They made Myth: the fallen lords which was a RTS game with somewhat of a fantasy theme.

Really though in the past few years we have had skyrim, three dragon age games, the witcher, middle earth, there is a new fable game coming, and there is definitely fewer sci-fi themed shooters, especially ones this good.

I've only had this happen once or twice on some higher level strikes (level 22). We wiped two or three times in a row on a boss fight, took probably 45 mins got him down to ~20% health, then wiped again and one of the guys left. About 15 minutes into the next attempt with just two of us, someone else joined in mid game. So that was nice at least. Finally managed to finish the guy off on that attempt, but it was probably another 45 minutes after the random guy joined.

I feel the same about titans. Titan used to last me a while in alpha and beta. My health drops much quicker and takes longer to recharge for sure.

Yes, there is gear that levels up, raises your stats, more amor, weapons with different sights or more ammo or more damage.

Its the same upgrading that you do with uncommon (green) items, just with rare (blue) items it is more expensive and CAN require some special resources (hadronic essences, Spirit blooms, relic iron, etc) for certain upgrades. My main weapon for example needs 15 relic iron, 10 weapons parts, and like 100 glimmer to upgrade it's base damage from 209 to 219.

Yeah but most of the green stuff just has an added stat boost that goes up.


Also I just did mission 7 and it definitely gets harder. Waves get more intense.

Lets talk weapon stats a moment if we can.

A weapon's attack doesn't seem to translate to increased damage. I read something about it being a weapon's ability to damage higher level enemies. Impact seems to have a bigger influence on the damage output of a weapon. I notice that my scout rifle with 106dmg but decent impact will do 292 per headshot but an auto rifle with 141 atk and pretty low impact will only do 103. However, since the attack is higher does that mean it will hold its damage better against tougher enemies? What I mean to say is that in some RPGs a weapon's dmg or atk rating prevents the damage drop off that normally occurs when you fight a tougher enemy. Where a good weapon will start to do weaker damage because it needs the raw attack stat.

Any thoughts? Can the weapon's attack rating be translated to mean a weapon's level and a higher level would be better against harder enemies?

An auto rifle fires way faster than a scout rifle. Damage per bullet is not really comparable between weapon types. At least that's how I see it.

I think either impact or rate of fire are multipliers for your damage per bullet (one or the other, since higher RoF = lower impact).

Anyway, the game is very schematic with some truly awful acting 🙁

Patrol - identical on every planet or the Moon:
- scan a specific environment element / area
- kill X number of enemies
- kill specific enemies for X amount of loot
- kill an elite / named mob

Missions:
- drop off
- get to waypoint A
- kill all enemies
- get to waypoint B
- kill all enemies (sometimes as 3 waves)
- get to waypoint C
- kill 3 waves and/or boss

Enemies:
- one crit spot
- grunts, snipers, with shield (immune to damage)
- regular (red HP) or with rechargeable shield
- elite (yellow HP) or with rechargeable shield
- bosses

Apart from that Sword of Crota mission, which was just a bit different in terms of how you go through the above, there is zero variation... Even the bosses don't need anything special... Just shoot them in the face, like the rest of the enemies...

As for weapons, each has 3 types that differ in rate of fire, impact and mag size.
4 different primary weapons, 3 different secondary weapons, 2 different heavy weapons.
Some special effects you unlock via weapon experience.
No weapon trees like in the demo 🙁

Environments are dead static. There is ZERO interaction. It's painful to run through and just observe the nice views, which you can't interact with at all. I was shocked on Venus, where on the Fallen ship, the doors are auto opening... It was the only semi-interactive thing in the game so far! There are also the colorful blocks which explode for some reason after being shot... And I'm on Mars.

Acting is so bad D: I mean, it's terrible. Ghost's dialogue is so retarded a lot of times (he has no idea about the world around). Then there's the surprise in the dialogue when visiting places - "I thought it was lost in the collapse". "It was just a legend", etc. And all it took was getting into a ship (plenty of which are available) and flying there! Also there's some archive the Ghost is tapping when providing information on the mission... And half of the times he is surprised too. Don't people there have a network? Something like Google? Together with bad performance from Dinklage, this all comes together really bad and sometimes the wrong kind of cheese... And that Awoken guy on the Reef... REALLY BUNGIE?

Your sparrow and ship are just eye candy... The pike was the only cool thing, but it's only available on missions and you can't spawn it. Why can't we have something like it?

Aaaaaaaand that's it... That's the whole game. And it took 5 years to make... I'm very disappointed so far 🙁

Its not half as bad as you make it seem. The voice acting is very solid, I have no issue. And if you didn't pay attention...no they don't have a network. It was all lost during the war. That's why you found out about the other planets when you started up the array station. All the warminds were destroyed(or so we thought). The ghost knows nothing because he knows truly nothing. He can do a lot but he isn't all knowing and isn't supposed to be. This is explained in some of the lore of the game. The ghosts were created to seek out and awaken guardians. That is their purpose and once they find a guardian, they are tied to them. They don't know everything about everything.

I have no clue what you mean by weapon trees. The beta was exactly the same as we have here as far as weapon customization and upgrading is concerned. There are different sights for some weapons you can unlock, you can upgrade the attack, and some of them have bonuses you unlock.

As for how the game plays, moving from spot to spot and killing stuff. Have you never played any shooter ever? That's how shooters are. You go to a trigger point and kill what is in your way.

Have you gotten to level 20 yet and have you done all the higher level missions? Nobody has seen the raid yet either. From what it seems to me, you set yourself up for something this game was never supposed to be.

The game is fun and the story is good. Have you checked the grimoir cards on bungie's website? There is more there to discover about the game's back story. Also remember than this is game 1. We are supposed to see 3 games with expansions between. This isn't any other single game where what you get on day 1 is what you have. Maybe its not for you or maybe you need a break from it for a few days I dunno. I do know that the drive for level 20 and the better gear keeps me going and I am not bored. Not even bored of old Russia yet.

Sometimes I feel like if I'm not with a group I dont know what to do. I spent last night just killing fallen and getting to level 8. I might need to just continue some more of the story.

I kind of wish we had a map of the area we are in. I know all of the areas it seems, at least in the cosmodrome. Some places I can't go yet because I'm still a lower level.

I ended up doing a daily event of one of those devil walkers by myself and it took a while. I was literally hiding everywhere I could. I think one guy was with me but ran away after he died.

So any speculation on the "secret" factions. Osiris and seven seraphs. From what I've read seven seraphs might mean the seven warminds. No idea what Osiris is though. Oh well, we will probably learn more in the expansions.

I am having fun. I can't wait to try the raid at 20. I have been doing all the levels on hard mode and many are taking several tries when done at the correct level. The no re-spawn modes are very intense and enjoyable. I get the feeling they would be easier if not done solo, but grouping or communicating in the game is the hardest part of the game.
