Hah, my league scores are online!

I'm on team #11. Last week was 181, 199, and 164 for a 544, averaging 177. 3rd game has been rough for me the last few weeks because the lanes break down and I haven't figured out the new house yet, but I think I might've found a line to play with my older ball that works. It's kinda funny though, bunch of guys from the old house came over too and we're all having the same problem.

LOL my 2nd game was ridiculous. 7 strikes for a 199. Splits killed me.

how neat. I haven't been in a league since I was 14 or 15. (Junior Leagues on the navy Base). I still love to bowl, just never found the time to sign up for a league and i am a bit embarrassed about my bowling style. I don't have the hand strength the bowl fingertip so I bowl with my index and middle finger but i don't insert my thumb. strange but it worked. I used to average around 185. but i caught a lot of flack because of my grip. :(

Bah. 576. 178, 193 , 205. Having lots of spare problems. My concentration the last four weeks has been shit. Hopefully I'll remember to remove my head from my ass before I bowl next week.

For a 573 series. Better than last time I subbed.

Should get a bump in the average with that set.

Okay, it was a tough night. Nobody on my pair of lanes could carry at all.
I was the second highest set with 595. I used 3 different balls, threw probably 5 different lines trying to carry. I put on a 10-pin shooting clinic tonight. Left about 9, made them all.

220....only way I did this was to move deep inside, and played between the 3rd and 4th arrows, cupping my wrist and cranking the ball as hard as I could, throwing it about 13.6mph. Only way I could carry the corner pins.
Haven't figured my average yet, but it's going to drop. If the shot stays like this, I'll definitely have to get a new ball that'll hook more.

Still having issues putting the ball on my mark although last night was the most consistant night for me so far this year. Even covered all of my 7 pins. Average was a 216 going into the night. Most likely didn't change after tonight.

I've been thinking about getting back into bowling but it always hurts my arm too much. That only after 3 games. I don't know how else to bowl though. Had a lesson recently and didn't learn much. I pretty much support the whole weight of the ball with my arm/hand and don't use the pendulum motion to aid it along the way I feel I have to clinch the ball as tight as I can or else it'll come loose on the back swing.

There's a good deal on a bowling ball out there though that's got me thinking about rolling again. Can get a Brunswick ultrazone for $85 shipped and get a $100 gas rebate to go a long with it. Should only be about $30-$40 to get it drilled so it comes out to be a pretty good deal. Probably not the right ball for me but who the hell knows what is. The last ball I had was a Hammer Raw Anger and it hooked too much or not enough, but never the right amount. I've only bowled a couple times since I sold it back in February.

Wank, do you have your own ball, or are you using a house ball? Nobody can get by without really squeezing the grip on a house ball, as they don't fit YOU.

It'll be a whole different world if you get one drilled to fit your hand. You don't have to hold on much, if at all.

I'd buy a used ball from your local pro shop that's been plugged up and can be redrilled to fit you.

I used to have my own ball (hammer raw anger) and it was drilled for my hand. I kept having to go back to get it drilled more though because it felt too tight and wouldn't roll off easily or stick on my hand. I don't think the driller guy was very good.

Bowled the 1st place team tonight. Our team kept it close the 2nd game and I matched pins with their anchor in the 10th to win by 2, and then our team had a big 10th in the last game to give me 12 pins to work with. Converted a 3-9-10 (don't ask how I left it) for a mark in the 10th to finish it for us. Fell apart the first few frames in the last game to finish with a 540 something and it's bad knowing how much our handicap factored into it, but we came through when it mattered to take all 4 this week.

And mini revenge from 2 years ago. There's a serious sandbagger on their team. I love this house though. They announce sandbaggers on the PA :)

NoCreativity, I assume you're a lefty?

That is correct. So supposedly I am supposed to have it easier than the rest of you.
Depends on the house.

If the shot starts off equally easy for both sides, the left side will stay easy because there aren't so many people breaking down the oil.

If the left side starts off bad, you'll struggle....same reason...not enough people to break the shot down to something playable.

If you bowled at my house, you'd be in hog heaven. Top guy in my league is a lefty, and he's averaging about 236 right now. He's a damn good bowler, too, but not that much better than the rest of us righties. Me and another guy are in second place, at around 216-217.
I'll even allow that he's better than I am, but not THAT much better.

In the PBA Experience league, he's averaging under 190. Everyone's on the same shot there for sure.
I'll put it this way: If you're a lefty and can hit the lane somewhere between the 3rd arrow and the gutter, you can hit the pocket, no problem.

BTW, I didn't bowl this week....back injury, didn't want to make it worse.

Get to sub again tonight. And since there was mention of it, I too am left handed.

Edit:

Well, I sucked my first two games but my last game made up for it. I maintained my average right on the dot though.

Game 1: 146
Game 2: 166
Game 3: 211
Series: 523

Average: 174 (which is what my average was going into tonight.)

Found out I get to sub again in 2 weeks. Nice.

Well....no bowling for me tonight. Maybe not again, ever.

My team quit last week while I was out. Nobody bothered to tell me, so I and one other guy who was also out last week showed up tonight. No team. Weren't there, weren't coming.

So the rest of the season is up in the air for me. I'll continue to update the thread, though.

Wow, last week was an adventure. 214 + 133 + 188 for a 535. I switched balls after the 1st game because the lanes were burning up, but I didn't put tape in for the first few frames (don't really like using it). Dropped the ball in the gutter before I gave in and got some tape, and after that I was able to hang onto the ball and bowl. So lesson learned - don't be stubborn.

Oh and I picked up a 6-7-10. Bought a rubber ball for my 10 pin pickups this season. It's sweet.

Darn. Hope you can find a couple more people to fill up your team.

Bowler collapses and dies after rolling 300 game

I sure hope you guys and gals don't take bowling this seriously!
rose.gif

SERIOUSLY!

I scored a perfect 300 before, and it was only my 5th time going to the lanes. I was with some friends, and they were all bowling really great games, too, and giving me pointers and they were making cracks about how I better not beat them and bowl 300, and sure enough, I did. One of the guys said he had bowled a 300 a few times before, too. I guess if you bowl a 300 early on, the shock of getting one later in life and having a stroke over it, is going to be a lot less. Maybe I should take up bowling again, but the nearest bowling alley is freaking FAR away from me now.

Okay, I'm calling an extreme case of B.S. No way anyone ever bowls a 300, even with the most extreme amount of beginner's luck, on their 5th time bowling.

You don't just bowl a 300 by casually going to the lanes every now and then.

But yeah, I saw that story...sad.
