I just started bowling a couple months ago... I have my first league game tomorrow (college intramurals, nothing big). Oh and I got a plastic ball at a pro-shop. The thumb hole is a little sharp (I'll have to ask him to sand it down a bit), but other than that, it feels GREAT. The ball is a Brunswick T-Zone, purple/blue/black swirly sparkly, 14 pounds (I'm a little guy).

Updated.

Still on the sidelines. No subbing opportunities yet.

Slugg, nothing wrong with a 14lb ball. I'm 6'4" and 275lbs and I use a 15lb. Any new equipment I drill, I'm considering going with 14lb. Much easier on my back, and they hit just as hard with today's ball surfaces.

Absolutely brutal night.

I'm sure the average dropped to 217 or 216. All night long I got two steps into my approach and couldn't remember anything until the ball hit the pins. Guess my mind just wasn't there. Snapped out of it mid way through the third game and ended with 6 in a row.

Had a great night turn horrible last night.

First game I was on, stringing the first 6 frames. 2nd and 3rd game I couldn't put together any spares let alone strikes. It was a brutal night. 11 opens in 3 games. Not good.

Got a plastic spare ball? Makes a huge difference with 10-pins. (or 7's, if you're a lefty)

Yup. Im a lefty. I was both throwing too light and coming in too high on the 2-3 pin spares chopping them, and just flat out missing my mark on the 1 pin spares.

Gotta work on those spares. Throwing strikes is easy after you've learned to throw the ball reasonable consistent, but it's all for naught if you can't make the spares in-between the strikes. Of course, you WILL have some off-nights, but IMO, for someone in your average range, spare shooting is what's keeping the average down.

Yeah, splits don't count as "missing spares", at least not in the sense that they were makable in the first place. Better work on the strike ball, then.

You sound like my brother-in-law. He can't seem to keep away from the splits, that is, when he can actually find the pocket.

Got lucky last night. Concentration just wasn't there yet again but at least my timing was back.

Entered with a 216 and will stay there. I've had about 3 so-so weeks which means it should be time for another good night next week, hopefully.

Subbed tonight. First two games were pretty good for me and I kept a good consistency going. Third game I couldn't pick up a 7 pin to save my life.

Not a bad night, just not happy about not breaking 600.

I hear you. I get in a rut where no matter what, I can't pick up a 7. Sometimes it lasts a game, sometimes the whole night.

Thought about "forgetting" to post this weeks update. I usually have one night a year that is just aweful. A night were I think to myself, why do I even bother doing this. Last night was that night.

Haha! Couldn't even hit 500. Average will be 214 now. I think I shot at about 21 spares, missed more than half. Had trouble finding the pocket and when I did, usually left a corner pin or split. Definitely need to practice.

Average is still 214. Left a bunch of 7 pins last night. After a game an a half of that, switched up balls and adjusted my mark.

The best bowler in the league rolled 300 against us last night. Luckiest 300 I have ever seen. At least 5 shots that shouldn't have been strikes. Tenth frame, he buries the first, hit a bit high on the second and barely took out the 10, and went smash mouth on the third. They beat us by 40 that game, kind of night our team has had all year.

No wonder why I couldn't bowl - my Black Widow Bite died. New season started (they split winter into 2) and I switched back to my Scorchin Inferno. I'm averaging 194. So weird, maybe I'll give it a hot water bath. Then again, Brunswick has always been good to me, and this is the 2nd time I've had an Ebonite just die. Oh well, yay to me for not figuring out to switch balls for 2 damn months.

194, 235, 196.

2 pocket 7-10s and a 4-6 split were my only opens for the night. Lanes the last two weeks have had a wierd pattern on them. Not a lot of the high rollers have been rolling too high.

Almost the same as last week. Quick correction from last week, 3rd game was 191, not 196 so series was 620.

This week

Still at 214.

Stayed at 214. Glad the end of the season is coming. My team sucks this year and losing every week is starting to get old.

edit: For some reason 211 was on my brain, it was actually a 212.

Average will probably drop to 213. At least I won mystery with the 206, too bad I had to split with some other guy. Hoping to get some practice this weekend because my delivery needs more consistancy.

Average will stay the same. I think my Agent has given it up. It just doesn't seem to react like it used to. Not to mention it's greasier than a teenage face regardless of how much I clean it. Pretty dissappointing considering I'm still using my 10 year old Eraser and that coverstock still feels like new.

Some of the newer stuff does quit reacting after awhile. Even resurfacing it doesn't help. That crap about "bleeding" the oil out of the ball I don't believe. I see shops charging for this, but I've seen no evidence that it helps. I did it to one of mine, made no difference.

Anymore updates, or is NoCreativity the only one left here?
