I want to meet the game programmers, stick them next to a brick wall, shoot a grenade launcher into the corner of the wall and see what happens. My bed is they won't survive, but they will be blown into pieces.

wow that sounds like the lag problems that plagued the COD4 beta. pretty sad they couldn't fix it even after having the beta to test all that crap out.
Throw a brick at the host?

It's possible it could be lag, but I have a 10mbit/500-600kbit on my side so it's definitely not me.

this type of lag issue was very prevelant in the beta.

i would shoot dead on at a guy, hear the bullets hit him like 4-5 times, then he'd turn and fire at me once, and kill me.

in the kill cam, it would show me fire in his general direction, but not even aiming at him completely, and missing him completely since I wasn't aimed at him, and he'd turn at me and kill me.

that sounds somewhat like what you are seeing.

The discrepancies between what I saw on my TV and what the Kill Cam showed me were very annoying in the beta. I imagine a certain amount of this sort of lag issue is always present in online games, but one would hope it wouldn't happen all the time. This sort of thing happens to me in Halo 3 fairly often too, although I've yet to go into Theater mode to see what it captured.

I found it on their website: Link

Look at the "Special offers". It appears to just be an instant rebate where the price of CoD3 is simply subtracted from the total.

Same thing happens in Halo more or less. Halo is more aggravating because it tries to 'smooth' it out. Nothing like being killed by a 12 ft. melee lunge.

Which is why the Xbox desperately needs dedicated servers for matchmaking. Too bad Bungie is sitting on their lazy ass after they finished making the game.

i don't notice it in halo 3 ever. i have yet to see that type of lag in halo 3.

also to say bungie is sitting on their ass is ignorant. they are working on new maps as we speak. let alone all the online support and stat tracking + filesharing they offer us free of charge.

I agree.. If we pay for a god damn online service it better be dedicated.. I mean c'mon assholes.

I would have no problem with the lag if I didn't pay the service fee, like in most computer games lag is hardly even a problem, I never experience lag in computer games.

and yes, the lag problem is what I'm experiencing for sure, I shoot in the enemy's direction way before they shoot towards me, yet my bullets fly 10 feet away from them and theirs hits me right on

All in all it would be so much better without the lag issues, I think at this point I like halo 3 better, although that can change.

Curious, if it's a severe lag issue then wouldn't everyone but the host be experiencing the same thing?

I don't have these "lag" issues enough to really complain about them ... I might get 1 every other game or so? It happened more often in Halo3 (as in, every game - stupid melee lunges) than it has in my several hours of playing yesterday (I hit rank 14.) It was much worse in the Beta though.

As for dedicated servers - that'd be hard considering the interface for XBL.

I was going to go out and get this today, but the 5-6 hours of multiplayer is a bit of a deal breaker. I like playing online sometimes, but I want a game that has a decent single player element. $60 is a lot of money for a 5-6 hour game. Anyone care to comment on the quality of the single player?

Maybe I'll just wait till next week and get Assassin's Creed.

The shortness of single player is definitely a bit of a letdown, but it still looks pretty intense. Check out gametrailers.com's review. The effects and amount of things going on at once looks crazy, and the review says it runs at a rock solid 60fps without a single hitch, ever (more or less the reviewer's words). :Q

Cant watch it till i get home from work.

So if I said I wasnt going to play online, is the single player worth $60 (or maybe at least $40 or $50)?

My guess would be no, but I haven't played it so I can't say. 5-6 hours seems way too short, but it depends on how much replayability the campaign and the unlockable Arcade Mode offer.

Nope. Played the demo, wasn't that thrilled. But Im not so much into the horror genre.

Damn...I really wish there was a demo so I could try it out. The video review looks completely awesome, but don't want to buy it solely on that. (Didn't like COD2 much)

I really wish there were a bunch of reviews for Assassin's creed up. It is basically COD4 or Assassin's creed then Mass Effect and Rock Band on the 20th.

I don't know what you'd be satisfied with if you didn't enjoy BS. You might consider Halo3, but I think it's rubbish when compared to Bioshock SP, and CoD4 MP.

I thought BioShock looked good, just not my style of game. Maybe I'll wait until I can get a copy cheaper on Ebay or something. $60 is a lot of money...
