**OFFICIAL** Call of Duty 4 thread.

Wow, only 5 hours of single player? This will definitely have to wait, unfortunately, as my multiplayer fix is currently being filled by Halo 3. Can't wait to play it though, I loved the beta.

Ya, 5-6 hours for single player is really short, but atleast there is a huge and deep multiplayer component to get your money's worth.

It's interesting to see that nowadays multiplayer is the focus and single player is the afterthought.

Team Xbox gave it a 9.7.

Single-player is only 5-6 hours on normal (which is pretty easy like normal in Halo 3). Seasoned players should play on the harder difficulty which will yield 8-10 hours. However, the bulk of your gameplay will be dedicated online with multiplayer, which should last a long time with its RPG-like upgrading system.

I'm wondering whether to get this on PC or 360. I have a 8800gt coming in a few months, but I won't be switching my processor from it's current Opteron 165 2.8 Ghz.

The game will probably be better overall on the PC due to mods and dedicated servers and 32 players instead of 16 on the consoles. However all my friends will be playing on the 360, so I'm torn between the two platforms. What do you guys think?

When I do pick it up it will likely be for the 360. I already have Orange Box(TF2) keeping me busy on the PC. But of course control(aim) will be better on PC aswell as gfx if you have the system for it.

PS3 version can run in 1080p (heard 360 only does 720p). I also *heard* that the PS3 version has better lighting and draw distance, but has slightly more jaggies.

However, the 360 does have an upper hand if you really desire the extra features Live offers (I, however, don't see it as a big deal).

Regardless, I've heard all versions are basically identical and amazing. I think I might have to pick this up.

He's asking whether he should get it for the PC or 360. Why throw in the PS3?

Alot of people on CAG seem to have it already. Consensus seems to be that the mp > Halo3. I'll have it tomorrow.

I'll probably get this around christmas. I'm still hooked on Halo 3 for a bit, and none of my friends are buying this quite yet. It's definitely on my list though (360 version).

Grabbing this for $30 as soon as my Blockbuster Video gets it in.

? what do I need to do to get this for $30?

Probably used.
Wish they had a used copy on release day; then I'd get it for even less.

Used games are great though. 100% identical to new ones. Grabbed Gears Of War and Bioshock for $45 total last week, used.

Multiplayer has some elements of horse shit... For example, I shot a grenade from the grenade launcher on my gun into the corner wall where an opponent was standing, the opponent survived without moving.

I want to meet the game programmers, stick them next to a brick wall, shoot a grenade launcher into the corner of the wall and see what happens. My bed is they won't survive, but they will be blown into pieces.

Oh, sorry. I was just saying that in general. I wasn't trying to answer anyone's question.

Still debating if I should spend the money and get it today from CC. They have it for 59 bucks plus you get COD3 for free, which is awesome since I wanted to pick that up too.

Don't have too high expectations for 3. It wasn't produced by the same dev and doesn't hold a candle to 1 or 2.

wow that sounds like the lag problems that plagued the COD4 beta. pretty sad they couldn't fix it even after having the beta to test all that crap out.

Is this going on at all CCs? Any catches? I already have CoD3, but I'm not going to pass up a free game.

It's possible it could be lag, but I have a 10mbit/500-600kbit on my side so it's definitely not me.
