One of the demo screens states that there are over 300 coopertive activities to achieve in the game.....does anybody know what these entail?

EDIT: Just found this on IGN:

Alternatively, you can begin any number of challenges that are specifically designed for the number of cars that you have. So, for instance, the challenges for two players are different than challenges for three, and all of the challenges that we tried were pretty awesome. One had two of us approach a raised bridge from either side and crash head-on while airborne. Another had us perform a series of barrel rolls, while a third had us taking a giant jump through a hanging ring. This last one was cool because getting through the hoop requires a bit of planning and acts as something of a small puzzle of sorts.

so i'm officially not buying this game after reading the EGM review :(

they gave it a good review, however my 3 favorite modes are gone.

No crash mode.

No road rage mode (online it was the best multiplayer type)

No last mand standing mode (online it was a blast as well)

Road Rage was fun, and Last Man standing was fun too, but I can forgive those... Crash mode is almost unforgivable but I'm interested in reading the review. My copy of EGM hopefully will be here soon.

im gonna rent it but i dunno ... i doubt i'll buy it, but we'll see.

honestly when i got burnout revenge, i bought it at the same time as GR:AW (they came out same day) and was actually hesitan if i should get burnout revenge or not.

when i got home i played burnout for like 30 mins and was like "meh, its same stuff w/updated graphics, i'll play GR:AW" cause i thought GR:AW was the game i'd play a ton.

week or so later i realized GR:AW was just not fun and had no urge to play through the rest of campaign, and realized online co-op was a joke and that online play in general was weak, and started revenge.

i ended up loving that game ssssooooo much and is one of my fav 360 games to this date. i hardly played GR:AW and played BR a ton. it was just funny because i expected it to be the opposite.

Just got my EGM today and flipped right to the Paradise review... All three reviewers gave it a 9.0. They mentioned that there IS a Road Rage mode, but its offline only. The thing that kind of stood out the most though, is that not one of the reviewers brought up the fact that you cant restart a race. That basically means that its a non-issue. Also, Showtime was indeed said to be a poor replacement for Crash mode, but it can be a ton of fun online which the title seems to be geared to.

I'm excited to buy it when it hits in a little over a week.

Fuck yes, I'm excited to buy it as well. I've been holding on to a $15 gift card that will go towards this game specifically. Did I hear that they've extended the demo to allow 8 people online now?

I really recommend trying the demo first and spending a little time with it.

Closing Comments
Burnout Paradise has its share of flaws, but it's also incredibly fun. The change to an open world brought its share of issues, like having to use the map as a crutch to get around for a while, but it also allows for freedom unseen in any recent racing game. Most importantly though, Criterion has once again delivered a racing experience that can best be described as controlled chaos, one where even crashing is immensely rewarding. If you're even a remote fan of racing games, be sure to check this out.

9.0 Presentation
The interface is especially slick, especially the online stuff, but the in-game compass isn't so great.

9.0 Graphics
While it doesn't quite have the shine of some other racers on the market, it runs amazingly well, especially considering how much is going on, and the crashes are stellar.
9.5 Sound
The engine and crash effects are fantastic. Brilliant work here.

8.5 Gameplay
Perfect controls at blazing speeds are only hampered by having to rely on the map to get around and not being able to restart on the spot.

9.0 Lasting Appeal
Getting to 100% will take you forever. But you'll probably try.

OVERALL: 8.8

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/846/846020p1.html

I know I was hard on the game in my earlier comments and my sentiments have not really changed--but I have to say that I have not completely written of the game and am looking forward to checking out the full retail.

i still can't believe crash mode is just completely gone :( it sounds like that new Showtime mode is lame as hell and a terrible replacement.

also looking at the map while in race does not seem like it will be fun at all.

im also surprised that review didnt say road rage mode wasn't in the online component, that seems pretty crucial to leave out.

and the whole restarting thing, regardless what IGN says, is a HUGE burden. anyone who'se ver played burnout knows that you continually retry events until you get them. i mean there were tons of times in revenge where i'd do a burning lap and miss it by like 10 seconds, retry it, and immediately fix a flaw and get it down to 9 seconds, and keep doing this until i perfected it. that whole gameplay is just compoletely removed :(

i'm still tempted to get this game because i love burnout, and the closer it gets to its launch the more i am contemplating picking it up, but these huge features missing just really bug me.

Crash mode was perfect the way it was, and for me, this is the single biggest issue I have with the game. I know it's been changed to the point that it's basically nonexistant now, but how does it work now? I saw a video (I think) of it where the guy was controlling the car as it rolled down the road continuously and as it hit more cars he continued to roll. He was basically turning corners and going through tunnels.......please tell me that this isnt what's replaced Crash Mode.

yep, that's the new Showtime mode unfortunately. and when you hit cars and get points for doing so, the other accidents that the other car causes from you hitting it don't count towards your total score.

you sure about that? IGN states that that applies to boost, not to points.

yah ...

There are major differences between Showtime and the Crash events of old, however. You can keep your crash going so long as you keep moving, which you can prolong by bouncing your car if you have some boost. Boost is earned every time you hit a car, which also increases your score, of course. However, you only earn points for cars that you actually hit, not those that crash around you, and you only earn multipliers for hitting busses. The bus-only multiplier thing is disappointing because you can go for 10 minutes without seeing a bus during one Showtime, but start another and hit a handful right away, thereby giving you exponentially more points simply because of randomized luck.

it earns you both boost and points.

Ah, I misread that... oh well. :) I'm gonna get it, because I'll be spending a total of $20 on it after my Giftcards... I'm sure its worth at least $20.

I can see how you think the new one will suck if you play like that. I'm much more casual, and I don't mind the lack of an instant retry.

Time to change the way you play!
I hope several of you guys get it, mostly so I have people to play with instead of random douches... I prefer you douches. :D

Ya, I still plan on getting it, although I'm not sure if it'll be launch day or later in the week. My vision camera is ready for when one of you assholes take me down online. :D

I think I'll be getting this when I get far enough through my current stack of games. I got bored with Forza 2 far too soon.

If I get it, I plan on getting the PS3 version. I suspect Mo is getting the X360 since he doesnt have a PS3 and BR is getting that version as well?
