anyway, I think the drawing is on the decline, not only the main character looks a bit different now, the new ones (the three Sound Village bad guys) look pale and simple in comparison to one before. (zabuza and that bone guy looks awesome and well decorated, despite their relatively minor role)
Yeah we're definately in a filler arc. I cant wait to see Naruto's new costume in action. I think this filler arc is gonna be pretty crappy in terms of action and its going to have no plot development, but it'll still be funny. But I understand that this arc is badly needed because the anime is catching up to the manga at a very fast pace. But after this arc... its gonna be AWESOME!!! Naruto goes after the atkatsuki!!!

i can help you. it's called overscan because normal tv can't display everything. so far I've made episode 1-10 on two dvds complete with menu ( I stole some naruto background with kakashi, 3 kids and naruto's first teacher, added text buttons linked to the episode).
i use TMPGEnc for converting .avis to m2v and mp2, normalize the soundtrack (mp2), author them using DVD-lab studio (allows you to have background music for menu too, i used naruto soundtrack for the menu, season 1, track 2 i think?).
in the advanced setting in TMPGEnc, the source is set to non-interlace progressive, top field first, 1:1 (vga) source aspect ratio. for the vido arrange method, it should be center custom size with 660 X 449 (adjust the number to your taste, this shrinks the screen so that when it is displayed on your tv, you can see everything.)
at the highest quality setting, it takes about 2 hours to encode per episode. hope that helps.

God i didn't pay attention before but now i hear it all the time and it's annoying as hell.

Ahhh. That what I needed to know. How to do the custom size. I've done everything else with with converting and creating the DVD. I used DVD Santa to do the conversion and then used TMPGEnc DVD Author to create the disc. Couldn't find a way to do custom size. Forgot about regular TMPGEnc. Thanks!
hehe i <3 tmpgenc, and a freakin' p4 is sadly much faster than an a64
tmpgenc express to convert, tmpgenc dvd author to remaster back into dvd vobs. i never really bothered with menus, just left it blank and had it play all on start
its great to have for friends who dont have a standalone divx player (yeah, that stupid overscan problem is a pain, but you just get used to having subtitles cut off 20% of the time...)

is there an effective way to rip subtitles alone from dvds? i have tried following one of those guides on doom9, only too find out it was waaaay too laborious with dissatisfactory results.

if you have the vobs and ifo files from the dvd, then vobsub (look for it on www.sf.net as part of the guliverkli project) will rip the subtitles into sub format. that has worked for me for most things, but i have found one case where i had to resort to using subrip, which is an ocr tool for ripping subtitles. the only problem with it is that it couldn't distinguish between I and l so i had to run the resulting srt file through a spell checker afterwards.
anyone know if someone else is gonna pick up Basilisk, Because Anime Kraze droped it because it was licenced by (un)Funamation
nope... i read that anime-future is doing it but they're italian? so that's no use
anyway... Tsubasa 10 is out
dunno about them, but the best fansub of tsubasa seems to be shinsen-subs. shinsen is also who I prefer to get speed grapher from as well. excellent group. Hope to be a translation editor for them soon.

Just finished watching School Rumble 25 and all I have to say is that what happened to Karasuma-kun, I TOTALLY saw comming. I laughed my ass off. I said like the second episode... (what happened) is going to happen... AND IT DID... HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
