Well, latest update from my AMD rep.

We're to expect the X2 OEM chips a bit sooner than expected, but without tracking I don't want to say exactly when until this is provided to us. Retail box versions are to follow in the next couple of weeks.

With a 7-21 day delivery time, I don't think they have them.

Ewwww. I went back to take a look and saw that atrocious delivery time. I guess when you're using UPS, you get those stellar delivery times.

Go back and look at tiger's page again. They ship in 7-21 days, u add UPS delivery time on top of that to make it 14-31 days to deliver :D

Regardless of the fact that I wouldn't order from Tigerdirect with a ten foot pole (oops, mixing my metaphores again), I've ordered numerous times from KEH in Georgia, and UPS hasn't been that slow... They do tend to bring things whenever they get them, as opposed to FedEx, who in this area tends to sit on my packages in their warehouse if said packages aren't "due for delivery yet."

Edit: I'm in Indiana, FYI.

I think that delivery time is just a safety thing. It's a lot easier to do the old "under promise, over deliver" thing. Even with regular UPS ground, a package can go from California to Maine in less than 7 days.

We have a simliar thing that our free shipping says it takes 7-9 days, but it really usually only take 3-4, depending. It's just a good idea not to promise that length of time, then have it actually take a week!

Hi, Tankguys. Since it's already June 6th now, do you know if you can have them tomorrow? I'm considering ordering a 4400+ from you, but if you can't ship it tomorrow, there is no need to order now and cancel it tomorrow. Thanks

We have 200 showing up tomorrow, the only reason that would change is if something crazy happens with the shipment.

The only potential sticking point is that, depending on when the truck shows up at our door, we might not be able to re-pack, prepare, and have them ready for pickup by our delivery companies on the same day. In that case, they'll ship on Wednesday.

In any case, anyone who orders now *should* have them by Saturday.

That's great. So if I order now from you, I can get it in this week if I choose 2-day right?
What if I choose free shipping? How long will it take to arrive in Philadelphia?

Yes, you should get it within the week.

As a little hint, the extra money you will pay in the 2 day shipping option will probobly only speed up your shipping by a day or two. We are shipping out of CA, and to get to Philadelphia it will probobly only take 4 days with our free shipping. So if the $17 or whatever the 2 day costs is worth it to you, go for it. Otherwise, it's not that long of a wait.

Monarch Computers just charged me for a 4800+ I ordered. Does this mean it will ship in like 1-2 days or is this just like a precharge?

I can't speak for them specifically, but I can tell you how it usually works.

Check your account balance. Your credit avaiable might be lower, but your balance might not be higher.

When we as retailers run your card to verify, your account gets a credit hold for that amount. However, you aren't necessarily charged right away. You know you've actually been charged if your credit available is lower AND your balance is higher. If only your available credit is affected, it's most likely just an authorization hold.

Yes I believe your right, but why this soon? Doesn't make sense if they won't even ship in 10 days?

Well, I like the X2 solution because it's much cheaper than a comparable dual processor system....I had entertained getting a dual processor system back when I made my last processor upgrade

Bing! You're the perfect X2 customer. I will also be buying the X2 since I researched dual processor systems and was scared away by the cost. The application I use the most, Cubase SX3, is wonderfully multi-threaded and just begging to be penetrated by some X2 salami

Would Cakewalk Sonar benefit from this too? I'm actually considering dual X2s for my DAW.

Yea, it still makes sense. All of our pre-order customers probobaly (it actually depends on the issuing bank) have a credit hold for the amount on thier accounts, but we haven't charged yet (i.e. balance not higher). So yea, I'd say that if Monarch has that hold on your account already, I wouldn't be alarmed at all.

You will actually find simliar things happen if you make hotel or airline reservations. Often times, if you book a hotel 6 months in advance even, they will put the credit hold for that amount on your card right away, but won't actually bill until you check out. It's a security measure for business like us, otherwise we might ship a product, or rent a room, only to find out the customer's card is maxed out or non-existant.

But would you agree that they are shipping the processor sooner then the 6/16 date, which I don't totally understand since everyone else is claiming it will be shipped tomorrow? Sorry you can probably see the impatience in how I am asking these questions. lol.

Why don't you email Monarch themselves instead of here?
Should have gotten one from Tankguys! :p

Sure will. We will both e-mail you the number, and it will be posted in your order status on our website. Rest assured, the moment they ship, you'll get notified and your tracking number!
