tigerdirect sucks though. I just added it to my cart and to send it to Philadelphia (19121) it was $18.30 for standard shipping. Just keep that in mind.

Just pre-ordered two A64 X2 4400+ from Tiger for $1122.82 shipped 2nd Day Air.

Same thing from Monarch would be $1257.74. I can use the money I saved to buy a DFI LanParty UT Ultra-D or put it towards SLI-DR.

TigerDirect has a bad rap from back in the day for rebates (not manufacturer's rebates, but their own). I've never ordered an item with a TigerDirect rebate from them, but from what I've heard, they are no better or worse than a lot of companies in that regard.

However, I have ordered tons of non-rebate items from them, and they've all arrived as expected. So I fully expect that in about a week or two, I'm going to have two 4400+ sitting in my living room.

EDIT: Scratch that, I totally forgot I used FatCash to save another 3%. So my final total for both CPUs is $1089.14, or $544.57 each. A full $168.60 less than Monarch. Tankguys and the others are selling retail CPUs so it's not a direct comparison.

Delivery date is 7 to 21 days...really don't see Tiger doing any better than other sites in delivery...still you have manage to squeeze the towel pretty good on this one...

Well, someone told me that Tigerdirect's only problem was with rebates. At $245, I'm reall y really tempted to go with this. They'll charge me shipping up the ass ($18.30) but it still makes it much cheaper than my other options. I already have a HSF and the limited warranty doesn't bother me so much.

edit - I want to see what newegg does with their pricing

We've got the the retail processors, for cheaper, and there is free shipping on all but the 4200+ model. However, we won't be shipping until the 7th, so if Tigerdirect has them in stock now and you want it ASAP, they would be the better route.

I'm still waiting for some money to trickle in before I order, so the 7th is no problem. The free shipping looks good to me, especially for getting a retail processor. I'll have to see how much money I can budget and if I have to skimp and go with an OEM processor. Thanks for the info.

Don't you just wish you always had a full bank account? :)

I'd like to upgrade to the X2 myself. It's almost painful filling all these orders and knowing I'm not getting one. I just recently upgraded to a 3400+ 64, which isn't the greatest, but I can't quite convince myself to upgrade yet again, and I doubt I'd be able to convince my fiance that it was a good idea either...

It is really nice though that the X2's just fit in a standard 939 board. That's at least one less expense for the upgrade!

Warranty isn't too bad; 1 Yr Parts & Labor for OEM is much better than 90 days.

I'm curious about Newegg's prices too, but seeing as how this is a low-availability, high-end part...Newegg usually gouges too. I remember them gouging big-time when 6800 Ultras and X850XTPEs were scarce.

I wish I had a 939 motherboard, because it would be one less thing I would have to buy ;)

upgrading from a 3.2c I bought when they first came out and going X2 because it'll provide a big enough boost for my video advertising work (premiere+lightwave+photoshop). I'm only a student though, don't even ask about the shady stuff I have to do to get the money to build this new computer ;)

Tiger offers pretty good prices on OEM - competition is a good thing. I have doubts tho about AMD's 1year warranty on OEM CPU, I am pretty sure it's 60 days as elsewhere. In fact, does AMD cover OEM cpus directly or thru the retailers?

I bet Newegg will gouge price way over what even Monarch offers :D

I'm sticking with my AGP 6800GT and an NF3/K8T800 board. The G70 will be released on AGP, so I still have one more upgrade path, and I'm not too concerned with overclocking because I'm going to be runnin 2GB of RAM

Now that you mention it, I think OEM warranties are through the retailer. If that's the case, I'm not quite sure I'd trust any kind of warranty through tigerdirect. I think I'm going to try for the retail.

Not bad...exactly at MSRP for the retail CPU's :)

Now I just have to convince myself I really want to spend that much money (and find the money) :p
