Thanks for the input. Day I hit 80 I blew my purse on exotic gear, so outside of accessories/trinkets I got all exotic lvl80 stuff.

I'll have to ask around and see who is doing what on my server. I don't belong to a guild (well a real one) and the friends that joined me to play ditched me about 2-3 weeks ago haha.

well were not doing much on stormbuff.
seems like the guys who are quiet are doing exploration, and world completion.

I have introduced a few to Arah shard runs.
It amazes me how very little people want to do runs.
They think i will bite their head off and rage or something if they ended up dying on a boss.

I just hate that jump. :D

But more pointedly, I have, these days, a low tolerance for such grinding. I don't mind doing it, of course, I just need to be in the mood. It's looking like a handful of runs is all I can stomach at one time.

My self-imposed ADD also commands that I play around with alts and do various other completions and farming on my main, with no particular direction or goal, as I'm having less and less time to play over the last couple of days. :\

I still need to do CoE and the Norn dungeon story modes, and I also have that Trinity story quest active, if anyone wants to join on a few grub farms from time to time.

Ok, well I'm tired of playing by myself. I'll need to transfer to your server and DO SOME RUNS.

80 Ranger on Devona's Rest. Will transfer tonight and get in with the group.

heres a problem..

stormbuff is full to oblivion.
Even some of us who swaped out to a different server due to skill point bugs, can not return because the server is overloaded. :colbert:

Which is why i havent been doing hardcore exploration.
Ive been farming the other 2942390482398493290 mats i need for my legendary.

And u guys who missed shard farming... its Offically over as in no more shard farming for any of us:

Last night updates:

Dungeon Rewards
We’ve made some significant updates to dungeon rewards. I wanted to try and clarify them here. All of these changes have been the result of an original exploit which was letting players receive upwards of 20 levels by completing a single dungeon run. We initially closed this exploit, which caused some new problems. The result is this new system which should increase dungeon rewards for players who play though them normally but help curb inflation of rewards for those who are using exploitative methods to farm them.

Dungeon tokens are now rewarded at the end of an explorable chain. This was done to stop players from repeatedly entering a chain and farming the first boss that dropped tokens rather than playing the entire chain. At some point in the near future, we will make up for this by making dungeon tokens a rare drop so that even players who are not completing a chain can make partial progress toward the rewards.

Dungeons reward 20 tokens for completion and now reward an additional 40 tokens for the first time they are completed each day. This means that if players can complete all 3 chains of a dungeon in a day, they’ll receive a total of 180 tokens, which is enough to purchase some of the smaller rewards.

Dungeon tokens should be account bound. This will allow players to have a single character farm tokens for their other characters.

Last week, to limit the most extreme cases of dungeon speed-clearing, we introduced a system to limit rewards for rapidly repeating dungeon clears. However, a bug in that system caused it to impact more players than intended. This week, we’re updating the system to not impact clearing different chains of the same dungeon. We’ll continue to evaluate this system in coming weeks.

........

So i guess that explained why those of us who was grinding AC nonstop started to see the depreciating returns quickly...
Also it means u can take your lvl80 character and farm tokens for your future lvl80 character, which means u can hord onto tokens and use them on any character in your account at any given time you please.

However it means if u complete a dungeon u can get up to 60 tokens per run.
Somehow i see a very large demand for guardians / warriors in party now... :)

Lets see. 8 shards 15 minutes.

8x8 = 64 shards = 2 hours.

If they still left the jump and pulling exploits is, getting past the first 2 bosses on option 3, I could still see 1 full run being faster than 8 shards runs. Though harder I am sure.

May have to do 1 if I am on tonight. Long day at work, little sleep last night because of the worst call in NFL history, even when a replay is allowed. And then NFL backs them up because they have to, or look foolish, when their statement shows they know they are wrong. Yea not a good day.

I like this update...I like it a lot.

account-bound tokens is what I was calling for all along. Hey, Now I will join you guys more on AC, I think :p

there are pieces from the various dungeons that I like for specific characters, but I dreaded the thought of how long it would take to level all of my various toons to then farm all these specific dungeons with them. Now I can run them all on one character now, and not worry about it.

and the greater rewards per day, for running full dungeons--I'd much rather do a pathway run, or several of them, than the quick farms for shards. I think the reward is substantial enough to make it worth most peoples' while.

but they are going to change it at some point in the future, so best to take advantage now.

Wait, I just did my first shard run yesterday and they went and changed it already!? Hah, oh well, glad I got a chance to at least see what it was.

Also, I might be the only lvl 80 Thief in the guild at this point, and if that's the case then I'm going to unceremoniously anoint myself as "Best Thief in the Guild". I expect to hold onto this title forever or until anyone else (and I do mean anyone!) gets to 80 on a Thief. Whichever comes first.

Long live the King.

wait, are you Hoon? apparently Hoon is the level 80 thief that I forgot about. He's locked into his own island, tough...so technically doesn't count right now.

Raaaaaaaaaaage.

For further details please read the patch notes found here.

what's the problem? You mean the stuff that Kuz posted a few posts up regarding dungeon fixes?

I think it's all good in the end (and not surprising). Higher rewards, really, and less grinding across your account with account-bound tokens.

frankly, they could eliminate my beloved mesmer class entirely and I wouldn't bat an eye, having turned tokens into account-bound.

:D

yup.

His original plan was to farm shards for gear.
Now his plan is out the window and he has to actually pay for the gear.

But he doesnt want to farm karma, which also nets a lot of gold, hence why he's back at one.

LOL...

And here my warrior which is fully geared on everything down to rings and earings, watching the new up coming warriors cry and struggle because now they have to deal with NERF's..

Have you tried that path's full dungeon run? The boss wiped my group 6 times and my group just gave up. Go to youtube and look up "gw2 giganticus lupicus" for what wiped us out so many times.

Anyone down for learning CoF explorer? I think that's how I'll be farming my gear though I already decided to splurge on a Rifle, still need a Longbow + full armor set.

"nerf" is such an inaccurate term, especially with GW...ANet will constantly change how the mechanics will work, they will constantly tinker with your professions, so you just have ot get used to it. It will never make something impossibly difficult, it will never eliminate one resource entirely, it will simply push you along a different path to obtain the same thing...

Of course--that won't stop me, or anyone else, from bitching every time it happens, for a little while... :D

But my advice is to learn to expect it, and while the annoyance is understandable, it's best to realize that the changes generally amount to a different method of doing the same thing, once you figure out that new build, or path, or whatever.

Every month in GW1 it was "OMG ANet! YOU FUCKING RUINED MY ELEMENTALIST! OMG Fire is USELESS! RAGE1111!!!111" within a week: "hmm, hey, have you guys ever played around with earth? this shit is pretty awesome. they never touched it in the latest builds....but uh, it's better than fire ever was, hmm."

granted--GW1 and the "limitless" skill system was better adapted to that sort of "sweeping" change (so I wouldn't expect the same overhauls in GW2), but there will be some major class balances throughout the life of this game, and in a few months, we will likely be playing these toons very differently from how we play them now.

but yes, I'm down for some CoF. I think I only did SM? or maybe it was one fo those EX modes...the one with the giant wolf (Spider?) boss that has a 360 degree, room-sized hit box? o_O

Is there a good way to find a guild in this game? I'm looking for one on Anvil Dawn but there's no way to know which is good and which sucks. I receive blind invites which I always just ignore but there's gotta be a way to see where I'd be a good fit.

Everquest 2 had a nice 'looking for guild' options... is there something similar here?

So I got this in an email from ArenaNet
Code:
A log-in attempt from the following location is currently awaiting your authorization.

Address: 110.90.132.105
City: Jiaocheng

This location is approximated based on information provided by your Internet Service Provider. If in doubt, deny the request and try again.

If you are certain this log-in attempt was not made by you, then someone else knows your log-in credentials and you should change your password immediately via Account Management.

So some Chinese hacker tried to get into my account, and luckily was thwarted by this safety measure.

Question: does this mean the guy knows my actual password, or does this message show up when an incorrect password is used as well? It sounds like yes, but I have no idea how they could have gotten my password. Hrmph.

I think you need to actually authenticate for that msg. I got that last night trying to logon from home. I found it rather annoying. Funny it possibly saved you from a compromise.

it costs you nothing to join a guild, and you aren't really limited to guilds--well, there is a hard limit but I don't know what it is....let's say you can join up to 10 guilds at once?

I can't imagine any game that ever allows you the opportunity to "know" what is a good fit for you any better than simply joining the guild and trying it out.

I don't hang out in LA of capital city X local chat much, but I imagine that is the best option for finding recruiters.
