Does anyone actually like tank superiority? Get a tank, drive to cluster F in middle of map, fire shells, die. Rinse and repeat x 30.

What a stupid game mode.

I found its much more enjoyable on small servers with about 10 players max. Large full servers are exactly as you described. I played it enough to get the 50 wins needed for the TS medal and it got pretty stale, so it may be a while before I play it again.

It really is a stupid game mode. It's like DICE figured they can simply and lazily change a few game rules around and package it as a new game mode to make their DLC seem like it's filled with more content than just new maps.

I got MVP on it as a sniper with a soflam and like 14 kills....

so yeah, after playing this for a little bit now it's exactly like the previous BF games except it has better graphics.

I suck at the BF games. I can never see where the enemies are, i get shot from behind all the time. I get shot from no where a lot, i'm dying in 1 or 2 shots but I unload a full mag into a guy and he's barely hurt. weapon accuracy sucks balls.

do the beginner weapons really suck that bad compared to the unlocks?

if I am trying to aim at a dude I can't see him in my sights. he's so damn tiny and the sights cover him up. even worse if he's moving.

the only way i seem to be able to get kills is by using vehicles, randomly finding a dude facing away from me, or randomly running into a dude (like physically running into him like around a corner or something so we are point blank) and unloading full auto into him (and sometimes that doesn't even work)

Hiding in a crater on Armored Shield near the flag as a support is a hoot. You are on foot in plain sight yet with all the chaos you are ignored. (works best playing hardcore, no stupid killcam to give your position away) Tanks roll in to cap, get set ablaze, guy hops out and blammo, or run up and C4 tanks from behind. Or just lay there and let two or more cap then recap the instant they back away to defend. :D

What screen size and resolution are you running at? I play on a fairly nice 19" CRT and at 1600x1200, eyes about 2' or so from screen, and don't have those problems unless guys are a long ways off. If they're within 100M I can absolutely see them.

1920x1080 on a 18" laptop screen right now.

I would say i'm about 1.5' from the screen.

I can see them but they look like ants unless they are like 10m in front of me. And then they blend into the background/foreground so much it makes it even harder.

not at all

a few of the beginner weps are some of the best in the game

you cant just walk into this game from COD and expect to rock it

you are also probably going full auto at everyone based on the full mag comment which ensure you are going to get OWNED

also sounds like you have very high pixel density....that won't help

can you scale it down to a lower res so you can actually see? I can barely stand 23.6" 1080P. gaming at 18" would be a nightmare

I know you from the CoD threads and understand your complaints. ;)

I felt the same way playing Bad Company2 coming from CoD4, but trust me BF3 is far and away much improved from BC2. You can at least strafe run now!

The biggest difference between cod and bf games weapon wise is that bf is a bit more realistic in the fact that all the weapons arent lasers. There is bullet drop and random spread to contend with whereas in cod the bullet hits wherever your crosshairs are no matter if its 10m or 1,000m. LOL

When sniping you will also have to hold over and lead moving targets at longer ranges. With practice this becomes second nature, but remember that each rifle has its own bullet drop characteristics.

For me the red dot sight is must to have on anything other than a sniper rifle. It has faster target acquisition and the dot is small enough for accurate fire at longer ranges. The heavy barrel will increase your accuracy and range but also increases recoil. The foregrip has been rendered virtually useless now with patches, I prefer using the flash hider as it helps with vertical recoil. Remember to fire in short controlled bursts with full auto weapons with maybe an exception being belt fed LMG's. They tend to settle in after several rounds especially if using the bipod. Personally the bipod doesnt work well with my run and gun play style so I usually avoid it.

And no the beginner weapons are actually pretty good, other than the snipers. I prefer bolt action snipers and use the straight pull bolt unlock.

Try playing TDM on Noshar Canals and if you find it takes to many hits to kill someone try hardcore. You can usually find me on this server a few times during the day: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf...9358-653762bef88d/RUF-Hardcore-TDM-400-Ticks/

I do use short bursts but by the time the gun settles down so i can try to see the enemy again i'm already dead or he's gone.

oh, also still got all the douches who grab a vehicle and drive off leaving you stranded. and now the game adds all kind of lens flare shit so you're blinded half the time too.

i think i'm done with the game already. I've never been able to play any BF game successfully. I don't know I even bothered again.

I understand your frustration. I have a friend that plays BF3 with me and he is not only a noob to BF3, but BF3 is the very first FPS game he has ever played in his life! Imagine how bad he was getting owned when he started with me several months back. I had to walk him through it as we played together. For months, he did nothing but get scores like 0 kills, 25 deaths. Then, occasionally he would get a kill or two. Now, often times he will be even or close to even. Sometimes he even comes out with more kills than deaths.
He plays as a sniper like me and we didn't start on small maps. You will get owned on small maps. We started out on, and still only play on, large maps and he keeps his distance to build his shooting skills and confidence without marching into the meat grinder and getting owned constantly.
We played alone on empty servers to level him up to unlock the best sniping gear. Then we practiced and I let him shoot me over and over and over and various distances to get a feel for bullet drop.
Sounds like you need a training buddy to make learning more fun and to give you pointers without the pressure of a full, small map server.
Send a friend request to moonbogg and us three will practice on empty or low player count servers.

Is anyone playing tonight? I'd like to play with good players who don't TK all the time.

I'd also like to find a good attack chopper pilot for me to gun with.

i don't know how many times i died on that first mission in Iraq. That point where you have to get the lmg on bridge was brutal. died like 5 or 6 times there alone.
Speaking of that Iraq bridge LMG............Dont even try that first co-op mission on anything but easy and with a good team mate.

I thought all the co-op missions were a PITA. The helo one will give you plenty of flying practice, there should have been one with a jet.

yeah that took me FOREVER

AI has really come a long way :p

'harder' = much much MUCH more accurate and able to see forever instead of just better tactics

though the AI tactics are pretty decent in BF3, atleast its not just harder = more enemies with better aim

i also have the same issue with seeing enemies in sp as in mp. unless they are like within 25 yards, i have a really hard time seeing them. like on the bridge lmg part i spent more time scanning trying to find enemies than shooting. when i did find one, he was so tiny i couldn't tell if i was hitting him or not. They also blend in with the surroundings.

Weapons are accurate at reasonable ranges with proper sights. The basic weapons are some of the top weapons.

What weapons do you normally use?

What graphics settings are you running? Running mostly low graphics settings with a couple on max can help you so you can see players better.

Best thing to do when you first start is to go into a totally empty server and find a wall to shoot at to get to know the guns you will use. Where the bullets go, fire length before they start going all over the place, and recoil pattern. Fire so that you can put a large number of bullets in a close circle very quickly. This will be a combo of burst firing quickly depending on the range, and how to pull the mouse while firing. If you want to learn to fly do the same sort of thing, empty server so you can get the basics down and understand the basics of what you are doing.

Once you get the basics down, then you will just want to get play time so you know the maps you are playing and where the spawn point are, where the enemy normally attacks from, where they camp, hide,...

If you want to get better quickly learn from your mistakes. If you keep on getting killed from one spot attack from the other side. Play with and against players better than you learn from them. Learn what you are doing that gets you killed. If you see good players doing something that works try doing it yourself.

Things to avoid that many new players want to or end up doing, avoid just finding a corner and camping, avoid being a sniper and just sitting away and sniping people. You will never get any good or be useful to your team doing that. Don't try and rely on something as the only way to get you kills. Keep on trying new things see what works and what doesn't. Eventually you will know what to do and what not to do.

i only have the starter weapons for each class. I just unlocked the 1st scope for the engineer.

i've been using the rifles (not the shotguns).
