Has anyone actually said that premium weapons were better? I have not seen that complaint anywhere. I am certainly not saying it either.

There arent any premium weapons. They are just letting premium work on the close quarters weapons because the dlc is on our accounts already.

so im on the PS3 i have premium and there isnt a single server playing the new maps

Battlefieldo - Close Quarters Fix on PS3 Premium

If you had "Connectivity Lost/Disconnected from the Session" issues trying to play Close Quarters after buying premium on PS3, rage no longer!
Just redownload and install Close Quarters from the Playstation Store (get there from the Store, BF menu under Store, or Premium Calendar under Close Quarters)

Once it's re-installed you should be good to go! I can confirm this personally.
And yes, the new maps are awesome
 
yea its installed, i think my issue was i had the filter set to conquest and not conquest domination, i saw them pop up later after i posted that, all were full
ill see what happens tonight. was prob good playing the old ones as ive havent been on in like a month

It's cool having a big variety of weapons to play with but when the other team has good players on it and I can't afford to mess around I always end up going back to the M16. Anyone that complains about the game being unfair due to unlocking weapons is just being a crybaby noob.

There are a lot of crybaby noobs to go around that's for sure :awe: On a side note, trying to accomplish all these new assignments is bringing my KDR down 🙁

yup. the only other ones I really use are the base M16, the AN94, and the L85

Ive used the AEK some as it really spews bullets but I thought it felt weak.


the basic semi autos and the SV(first recon unlock, first bolt action) are perfectly fine and I get killed by them ALL THE TIME

the intial support guns are 2 of the best you get period, if not some of the best all around

I really wish you could change the default fire mode on weapons. I would use the AN94 a lot more if you could. The AEK is great for close quarter maps (biggest issue with the L85 due to low rate of fire) but I have a hard time being accurate with it at medium to long range

Fast reload time is nice too

We take a tour of the biggest Battlefield 3 map ever created and get the details on the new AC-130 gunship.

Since the launch of Battlefield 3, it feels like the community has splintered into two separate camps -- the purists who prefer the large, open environments jam-packed with vehicles and the fans raised on close quarters games like Call of Duty who prefer a more intimate setting. Fans of the pure gunfights are already indulging in the new Close Quarters map pack (on the PS3 anyway. Xbox 360 and PC players get access in less than two weeks), but come September the old-school fans (like me) get a new dose of classic style maps with the Armored Kill expansion.

Behind closed doors at E3, DICE showed off the first map of the expansion pack, Bandar Desert, the biggest map in franchise history. Here are some details I picked up during a short but sweet hands-on conquest battle.

  • Several new vehicles are featured in the expansion, including new tank destroyers, an AC-130 gunship, ATVs, and mobile artillery.
  • Taking over a specific base grants the controlling team access to an AC-130 gunship. The gunship travels on a fixed circular path around the bases and it has four seats -- two for shooting 125mm cannons at the ground and two anti-air turrets for defending its airspace.
  • Though only four people can man the AC-130 at once, other soldiers can use it as a mobile parachute spawn point.
  • The AC-130 is also a great position to spot and mark enemies for your teammates.
  • If your team controls the AC-130, the smart strategy is to have all patrolling the aircraft defend it from oncoming attacks so it can continue its forceful barrage.
  • The AC-130 is heavily armored, but it cannot be repaired by engineers. This means ground forces can bring it down with concentrated fire.
  • The tank destroyers are lighter and more limber than the tanks included in the base game. They still pack a punch, but are much more vulnerable than the conventional tanks.
  • Over 20 upgrades are available for the new vehicles, but there is no new infantry weaponry.
  • Armored Kill also has a new Tank Superiority mode, but DICE wouldn't go into specifics just yet.
  • You should spawn on a squad member near a hot zone or to jump into a vehicle. Given the large size of the map, hiking from your home base to a flag point takes a while.
The maps are large enough that you can employ new team tactics like positioning your mobile artillery on the ridge and shelling any troops approaching a hotly contested flag capture point from a long range.
DICE plans to reveal the three other maps, the new vehicle upgrades, and details on the new Tank Superiority mode as we move closer to the September launch.

I think the resentment is making a different class of player. It felt like most people last night were Premium, and I had to wait behind people in queues so there doesnt seem to be that much difference. To be honest, Premium feels more like a rip off now that I have it. I probably should have just went a la carte with the DLC.

It's cool having a big variety of weapons to play with but when the other team has good players on it and I can't afford to mess around I always end up going back to the M16. Anyone that complains about the game being unfair due to unlocking weapons is just being a crybaby noob.

I'm the opposite. I'll take the lumps just to get the guns out of the way. I unlocked 3 guns in 5 full games last night, and the only bad game was when we lost that one on Metro last sec. I kept switching backing and forth to further assignment progress, and it ruined my flow. But if I dont push through I will never finish them.

I'm dreading the grenade launcher and grenades assignment. It took me forever to get the 20 GL kills to unlock Professional Russian. In almost 200 hours of play, I only have 79 M320 kills, and most of those are with the shotgun ammo. C4 kills will be a problem as well, as I only get them when I rush after tanks and blow myself up. The rest I can get normally by just playing, but what gets me killed is when I go outside of my normal style of play. Maybe I should just hunt around empty servers and make a deal with someone to get through unlocks. I did it last time for something, but I cant remember what it was for. I think it was squad DM.

I wish there was a "try before you put in the effort" mechanism with these unlocks. Half of the guns I have I've used less than 10 min. Half of that I havent used at all. I probably shouldnt worry about it at all, but you never know when the next unlock will be your go to gun. SPAS-12 seems worth it, as I was getting double kills, and even single hit kills at ranges that take the other shotguns 2 or 3 hits. Maybe its a bug.

I am for the most part enjoying the new guns. Definitely better than the Back to Karkand weapons. The only weapon I am not liking out of the new bunch is the M417. It handles like the EMR and I really didn't enjoy grinding 500 kills with the EMR.

I may take you up on that! I guess that explains why I saw like 50 EOD bots on Bazaar. I was in this hallway and I would shoot one, then a few secs latter another one was there, then another, etc.

You can get the torch kill on me if you want. A lot of the Metro servers dont allow GL, but I guess I can do it on Bazaar in Alleyway. I wonder if destruction caused by the GL still counts...
