Oh hai, try investing in some reading comprehension! I said I have TWO SSD's - one was purchased solely to be used to load games. I then determined that the "increase" was negligible given the cost and amount of games I could store. Having 3-4 games load quicker isn't worth giving up the storage. Just because you can get one for under $100 doesn't mean it's worth it - maybe if you only play one or two games, but why limit yourself.

I was referring to the earlier poster who said he cannot afford an SSD. And getting an SSD for <$100 is absolutely, positively worth it.

While i have no ssd,i recently replaced a 4 year old 4 platter 1.5gb seagate with a brand new 1tb western digital black, load times basically cut in half in about half the maps i load.

Guess the game loves a quick seek time,15.4ms on the old drive vs 12.9ms on the new,if i'm not mistaken most 1tb drives are single platter now?

Want a 240gb ssd to fit any and all games i may purchase and play on here, but $330+ for a quality 6gbps ssd is a bit much so this will have to suffice.

Sold my gaming desktop thinking I could just not play BF3 or play it at low settings on a laptop. Miss the epic "BF moments" too much so putting together a new budget gaming rig to come back into the game 🙂.

I didn't have a SSD in my desktop but with my WD Black 640GB it loaded up the maps quite fast.

I have an SSD with windows on it and everything else on HDD and windows boot time is awesome but that's about it, nothing for game loading times(regardless of game on the SSD or the HDD). Do you need to have the games on a second SSD to get a truly good effect?

I have a fairly slow 7200rpm drive in my gaming box. The very first load is slow, but after that maps load very fast and I am typically on of the first people to spawn in the game (I am always able to grab a vehicle). I think loading times have a lot more to do with CPU/GPU (Texture loading) than HDD.

yes you need the game content on it, for it to matter when loading the game files

No, it should significantly lower your game load times too. I bought an SSD about a month after BF3 came out and my load times were cut by more than half, I was previuosly using a 1TB WD Caviar Black. I have a friend using a 640GB WD Caviar Black and when we play together Im always into the game much quicker than he is. Im usually waiting 20 seconds for the round to begin while he is lucky to get in before it even starts. Granted, his entire rig is slower than mine so that probably plays a part.

I love my SSD the boot/shutdown/restart times are awesome!

hahaha...I remember those days. I wasn't a big fan of the futuristic setting, but I used to love talking out those walkers with the Koening, and trying to take out the Titans.

We should have a retro Battlefield night. 1942, BF2 or 2142.

I loved the feeling of a Titan assault. After getting the shields down, the entire team would either fly up, or use that drop pod tank and fucking charge the thing.

I ran across this the other night while playing with Zargon.

For the CITV is that 3rd seat dependent on the tank driver or the passenger?

You can access the CITV station anytime you're in a tank as long as the position isn't currently occupied. If you join a tank that already has a driver and gunner you'll enter the CITV station by default. Moving your sights over the tank will give you the name of the driver and the number of occupants inside the tank. If the driver of the tank has CITV unlocked the vehicle will show as having 3 slots, 2 if CITV hasn't been unlocked. You can use that tidbit to guess how skillful the driver is.

Cool thx for answering my noobile question!

Fuck me...

Conquest on Metro, I though I had a great game. 50 kills, 16 deaths, 3rd highest score on my team, 5th overall.

And my skill is -131.09? Apparently this metric is not simply related to the K/D ratio.

Killing people who have lower skill rating than you lowers your skill rating. In other words, the only way to raise your skill stat is to kill good players.
