I agree with gorcorps on the ATOT server - I'm having fun too, but for some reason I'm feeling old and slow in this game. The feel is different enough from BC2 that I can't get a rhythm going. Also, half of my deaths occur at spawn, either spawning in a squad vehicle that is disabled (drawback of the disabling feature), or spawning directly in the line of fire. So frustrating...I've taken to just spawning at the deployment rather than on my squad members. I honestly think this has to do with the player count on somewhat cramped maps - there's just so much gunfire that it's hard to spawn and actually get any momentum (or even forward movement). I actually like Caspian the most because of that - it's wide open enough that I'm not constantly spawning in a fire fight. I have to do more hoofing, but I'd rather do that than suffer yet another insta-death.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Oh yes. The maps were clearly designed for only 32 players. Caspian and Firestorm are ok with 64 but Seine, Bazaar, et. al. are just lame. I think on the Seine rush map last night I was something like 20-15 where 12 of the deaths were insta-death spawns or mortar. They really, really need to add some sort of temporary immunity when spawning on squad mates at least.

<----- Major Noob - I can't figure out how to spawn anywhere besides my first starting point...

When you respawn it gives you a list of points you can select and a minimap of what's going on. It usually defaults to your starting point, but you can select any control point your team controls in conquest, or if you're in a squad you can spawn on any living squad mate.

So is anybody else colorblind?
I'm having issues distinguishing between squad members and enemies when the enemy is highlighted red.
I know in bfbc2 they had an option for colorblind people, i wish they would have brought that over.

I don't even know what negative mouse acceleration is, but I keep hearing people complain about it. This have to do with a mouse input setting? Because I've just used 'raw input' or whatever since beta.

Basically the game overrides mouse settings, make it oh so sluggish. Play a round on BC2, then go back to BF3 and it just feels wrong.

Changing the mouse sensitivity does not really help, because you can move as fast as you want with DPI on high, but the game will still feel sluggish.

After playing for a bit i've noticed TONS of little bugs in the game so far.
At least i think some are bugs.

Anyone know if getting knocked out of jeeps when hitting bumps is a bug? It makes my jihad Jeep harder to do with c4 on front :D

Also, the bullet drop fix is suppose to be fixed next patch. Nothing says "SON OF A BITCH" more than being prone and trying to shoot someone running and you are hitting ground because you can't aim up. lol

Yeah, there's a few adjustments to make. Be sure to check who/what you're spawning on. If they're under fire, don't spawn on them. The black screen delay on spawn I believe is by design to combat the problem in BC2 where players who just spawned on a squadmate are INSTANTLY ready to fire, making it unfair for someone who's attacking and has the upper hand because of position/flank, whatever.

But yes, I find that sometimes when you're just about to spawn on a vehicle and it blows up or a teammate and they die, the default is to spawn back at base. :-(

Yup, these are 32 player maps with 48-64 players. Not good. Gives it a COD fell, dare I sawy. And yes, I noticed that temporary invulnerability was gone - that doesn't help either.

The problem with the delay is that temporary invulnerability is gone. It means that if my teammate is getting shot and I spawn on him, I'll die instantly, before even being able to move.

That's what I'm saying--look before you spawn. If your teammate is being fired on, don't spawn on him. Wait until he's clear. In my opinion the 1 second blackout while spawning is by design.

Well I've come to the conclusion that once you are behind the rank/unlock curve in this game you are really doomed.. (unless there is a newbie server out there somewhere)

now that everyone has ranked up all their abilities unless you have the counters you are cannon fodder which kinda sucks.
no ability should be game changing or unbalancing in games like this but unfortunately they are by design in this game.

I am finding myself instantly destroyed in any vehicle especially if you are rank 1 in that vehicle as well as even on the infantry maps people with the advanced weps and scopes just rampaging the newer lower ranked players..

Too bad because its very frustrating and even though I excel as a medic if it comes to a gunfight I'm dead meat. especially with the top tier unlocks.

love the game.. but am finding myself super frustrated now.

I kind of agree, and I was in the game at the midnight release, having a good time. The problem is that I've only put in an hour a day and am at rank 11, yet there are already lots of players at rank 30 and above. Crazy...

Plus I'm sucking lately.

Zargon - you're probably right, but in cramped 48-64 player maps, the change makes it pretty hard to squad spawn.

Ok this game is so fusterating. It has so much potential but lots of bugs.

Things that really are annoying is no communication from DICE. BF3 had a patch today..but no word of it anyplace.

The server browser has terrible, terrible filtering options. No player count filter options, no disabling que lines, i had clicking on a game, and you think you get on a server but just wait. Never mind the fact it actually will put you back, or just stop it if a reserve slot comes on server.

The major thing is random disconnects, and every 5-10min disconnects. I've yet to finish a map in this game before i get kicked randomly. Yes ports are right and everything else.

The bug reporting system is TERRIBLE. Why do developers always insist on forum posts for bugs, and no feedback if its going to be fixed or not? So you have thousands of players posting the same thing over and over. They need like a bug depository, that shows "fixed, Not planed, investigating" next to each one to stream line it. Its pretty sad you have to visit dozens of twitter/websites just to get a little bit of info. Why not put all that info in battlelog, or better yet just have a DEV section you can get to the nitty gritty details instead of browsing through the cesspool of dumb people posting on forums, etc

I suspect the first major patch is going to be 5gig min.

the filtering options arent that bad

and atleast they work this time, when bc2 launched some did, but the important ones like REGION didn't.

lots of people asking for filters for 'passworded servers' and 'maxplayer counts', hopefully they make it soon

yeah, you just have to be more selective, or your SM's need to pay attention and find a safe spot when everyone else is dead......

BF is after all supposed to be the thinking mans wargame

Ive got quite a few hours logged in the game now.. and while I have my own list of complaints stability is not one..
unless the server bombs there are no disconnects..
you have something local that is messing up..

read up in this thread there was another person having the same issue and it tuned out to be overclocking was the issue.. the game is very demanding on hardware..

I'm sucking more because everyone is far higher than my rank 7.. and even though I'm rank 7 my total kills is very low.. so I have no sights or guns other than the ones you get from base class rank up,..
its making it very hard to advance especially with OP weps like the SCAR.. the game is totally unbalanced unless everyone has all the unlocks..

I have up to AA missles on planes but just before stealth... and I'm flat dog meat.. everyone is playing engineers with SCARs and AA it seems.. so you are instantly hit with 6 missiles the sec you get off the ground..

same with Tanks working on Thermal on it and again so much engineers with launchers.. you are dead in seconds and smoke does nothing.

9H 21 minutes played.. R7 only 132 total kills.. yeh.. I suck..

I think we just got spoiled with the invulnerability. Need to be more cautious with spawning now

Yeah - as much as I hate spawning and dying I hate the invulnerability more. Many many more deaths due suprise spawnings by invulnerable players than spawn deaths

Try playing team deathmatch. Smaller maps, no vehicles, much easier to get kills and rank up quickly. That's what I've been doing almost exclusively until I get the good guns (which I'm now rank 16 and getting close). Matches are much shorter and many more points per minute. Good luck.

Yup same i got 3 team kills cause it appeared there was unmarked enemies trying to destroy a tank i was in and i killed one guy and it ended up being a teamkill.

The marking system seems broken cause i did tons of teamkills in beta too and i could be killing someone with a red highlight and well it was a friendly:|

I select a squad member and watch them for a good 10-15 sec to see if I like their situation. Many times I'll wait till they get to where they are going before I join. And you should try to spawn in TDM...most of the time you spawn between two enemies.

Squad up with ATers on Tugboat. ATers are pretty good about playing the objectives, and there is strength in numbers. I think I tried to play with you last night (Waco), but the teams where just lopsided and our squad leader didn't set objectives so we were always split up. And it seems like it was rush night on Tugboat so at the first crash I bailed.

-197 skill? :p Things should go faster now that you have the M416. Dont use the AK or M16, just focus your kills on the M416 and you should unlock stuff faster. If you use another class, just use the PP2000.

That would be so OP... It sucks that spawning on your squadmate can be like spawning in a landmine but its your fault for spawning in the middle of a combat zone, spawn at the captured point behind him or a different squadmate that isnt currently surrounded by enemies.

Well a) bc2 had HORRIBLE mouse input settings. You could be fast on the ground and slow as dirt in a vehicle. This required either editing the text files manually or using an alternative program to set this stuff.

b) pretty sure it's suppose to be 'sluggish' because your characters have 'weight' now. Notice when on the ground you can't spin around as your character is physically moving on the ground. It's not suppose to be as twitching as you could make it in bc2. Personally I've not found a problem with the speed, nor do I see any reason why it would be a problem in a sniper scope.
