but doesn't having browser open while playing the game takes away from valuable RAM?
when i check my task manager, i have only a tiny bit of RAM (left like) 10, so i don't like how the browser and origin take up valuable RAM that the game can otherwise utilize.

It shouldn't be a hit at all in a fairly modern system. How much RAM do you have? I would say that 8GB is the minimum.

Planet Battlefield - Battlefield 3 Server Files Leak, DICE Warns Against Joining Non Official Servers

Sunday, 2 October, 2011 at 12:21 PST | ^Scott^ | Print News

Yesterday, an old Battlefield 3 beta server build was leaked causing many unauthorized modded servers to pop up on the Battlelog server browser. Some of these servers were running 128 players or more, other gamemodes on Operation Metro and modified point values. DICE warns people not to join these servers as it could cause your EA account to become banned.

In Battlefield 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ranked server providers must submit server IPs to DICE to be added to a whitelist. This allows DICE to control exactly what servers show up as ranked. Battlefield 3 ranked servers will most likely have whitelist support added soon to combat modded servers.

I'm getting inconsistent results, but generally with my dual OCd 460 768MB cards I am staying above 40fps on ultra and 2x AA.

Afterburner only shows about 60% utlization on the cards though. Am I vram limited or is it just going to take a while before the game is more optimized and scales better? I also expect that getting bulldozer should help

Have you tried turning off AA all together and see how it runs?

They are going to ban accounts for people who have NO way of knowing that the servers on the browser are hacked? And banning means they lose access to their rightfully purchased games? If they actually do that to anyone I hope they experience, and lose, a class action lawsuit.

Agree, especially since unless you are following them on forums/tweet/facebook/etc you have no idea about this. The average person logs into Battlelog (where this warning needs to be) and just sees the servers when looking for one. I'm sure they can put some type of headline in when you log into battlelog telling you this stuff.

There were some tweets from Gordon Van ***, former DICE, and apparently the first thread about it was deleted at EA UK. A second thread was moved out of the BF3 forum to an off topic forum:
http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/gamers-retreat/1435425-gordon-van-***-tweets-about-bf3-beta.html

And in case that gets eventually deleted, here's a link to his twitter:
https://twitter.com/#!/GORDONVANDYKE

Original deleted discussion was clearly about BF3 and thus on topic and not meriting a move to the off topic forum, so I suspect intentional censorship.

Yea...EA is going to take away peoples' games unfairly like that? It should be them held responsible for allowing their server browser to be hacked. Did that ever happen with in-game server browsers?

And, related topic...steam doesn't even ban you from your games even if you are caught actually cheating do they?

is it normal to switch to the pistol when you're revived? does anyone else have the "space to accept" stick for a while? it seems i always end up hitting space to accept and then stand right up to have my head blown off all over again 😛

When you get revived you go into a "last stand" type mode where you are laying on the ground with your pistol out. You can shoot and kill people, and they can kill you too. If you don't accept hte revive though you cannot stand up. If you are killed in last stand it does not count as another death for you.

See the picture in post 3227, it says:
"If your account gets banned it does mean any EA game you have on your account would also be unavailable".

Though, in the past they have indicated that bans would still leave single player content available although you would lose access to any DLC, even if it's single player content. Frankly, I wouldn't trust them either way.

I'd be shocked if they actually do that. Have there been any instances of a ban? I'm sure it's just tough talk to scare people in to starting off of those servers.

I have only have 4GB ram and I have zero issues running the game even with anti-virus, firewall, sound program, and logitech mouse program running. Run it ultra everything 2xAA @ 1080. You'd only need more RAM if you have performance issues.

i got 4GB.
thats why i only have 10megs left when i have the game, browser, origin open...

Windows 7 doesn't let your RAM sit around doing nothing, it uses it for aggressive disk caching. If a program wants RAM, the OS will free it up for the program.

Has anyone else experienced or seen a glitch when a solider goes prone while running and start crawling up hill? The player's soldier neck stretches out so long it looked like an alien or dinosaur with a long neck...

I tried to get a screen shot of it with my "print screen" button, but copied and paste didn't work
I saw that last night. Freaky looking! 😱

Lol, haven't seen most of those but I have been killed by a number of dudes that looked dead and weren't. That was annoying.

Is that sarcasm? I hope so. Origin + battle log uses a paltry 60megs of ram.
