I really like the B2K maps, such a blast from the past and yet they're all thoroughly modern revisions. They "feel" like Battlefield maps, if that makes sense.

Quick question though - I just unlocked the guided missles for the attack helo gunner seat, but I can't figure out what button switches to them. I've tried them all, it would have made sense for the same button that switches every other vehicles weapon ("f" key) but I've tried it a dozen times... no good. It's definitely equipped in the loadout menu. Dunno...

Did they ever say anything about introducing snow maps? Or Maps that take place in wilderness areas? I fill the need to kill more trees. 😀

Now THAT would be fun. Hell even a countryside map that has apple orchards and hedges like in Europe. 😀

They all just feel so urban, kinda mindnumbing.
 
would love to see some of the bc1 and 2 maps come out.

harvest day was a favorite of mine, mayhbe open up caspian to include the cliff area.....

While I'm loving the B2K update, I don't want anymore remakes. Give us new maps, new designs...
 
Man do I hate Wake Island. I was a devout BF1942, Vietnam, & 1943 player and this remake SUCKS. There is no ground based AA so infantry and vehicles are screwed vs Air. Everyone says to just use engineer AA, which is horsecrap. Way to easy to use flares and you only get a few shots at them. Plus you are at a tremendous disadvantage. I'd even settle for some WWII era flak guns. Something. Anything.

It's also missing the boat transport from one beach end to the other. I understand that the map has changed, but that turns it into an infantry tunnel map / air to ground shooting range for choppers and jets

Really bothers me because that is one of my favorite maps in the series.

Also, ran across another blatant cheater today. Even his teammates were trying to get him banned:

Ridiculous. Guy was making 1 shot headshot kills from extreme sniper range with a magnum 44.

Ya gotta remember this is EA/Origin we are talking about, they will try their best to screw up a great game. 😵

I noticed a big decline in servers and population too. I think they all went to b2k and regular. Bf3 is empty now.

Hate to say it, but sounds like you've been playing on a noob team or just a noob yourself. I was playing that map last night and convinced my squadmates to switch to Javelin and I used SOFLAM to lase targets for them. We dominated the air. Even the enemy pilots were complaining about how "overpowered javelins are", which is a retarded excuse if you ask me. All it took us were two SOFLAMs and 2 engineers with javelins to take out the enemy air offensive/defensive.

As a note, since the patch, they made the SOFLAM sensitivity really low using the mouse, a good way around that is to use a controller or joystick.
 
That's the problem, nobody wants to lase anything for more than what, 5 minutes? Hell, I keep telling non snipers to jump in CITV in my tank for a free laser, happened a total of one time out of 4 or 5 long matches. But I get it, that's boring to just sit there lasing stuff. I guess, anyway.

They need some maps based on the sp missions where you assault the villa. One in that hilly woodland area where your convoy gets ambushed and another in the farmland valley where all the russians are paradropping in. I'd just like to see any new maps more in the spirit of the B2K maps where every building can be occupied and flag placement is better.

I am seriously in awe that you got that much coordination from your teammates. I have never experienced anything like that in BF3. In the older games, sure, but this one is full of assholes just trying to max their kill count.

I still havent touched the campaign...... LOL

The other fun thing is a 3 man tank team. CITV + Guided Shells + Engi gunner to jump out and repair and Jav.

Well, it seriously took some baby talk just to get them to do it, plus I was the one volunteering to do the SOFLAMing. And I normally don't SOFLAM on most maps, it just works out really well on Wake Island because that map pretty much has an open sky with very little obstruction.

I had the rare pleasure of a few minutes solo-SOFLAMing last night on Wake. I parked a tank on one of the humps on the island, got out and planted a SOFLAM pointing towards the carrier, then jumped back in to the tank firing guided shells. I was fist-pumping, like a boss!

Jumped in and out a few times to re-aim the SOFLAM. Always nervous that someone would boost my tank. Eventually I had the whole other team out to get me...

its pretty funny when the entire other team makes it their job to try and kill you. Had that happen the other day on Wake when i was in the chopper with my buddy who is a very good gunner. We took out ever land vehicle that made it ashore and some that didn't as well as every heli and many jets, when we finally died there were 9 people trying to tag us with stingers.

You should watch out...expandas grabbed a Venom in that condition. We fixed it, then proceeded to rape the other side with it the whole game. Dump it in the ocean if you cant fix it safely.

I did that the other night on wake... I was fist pumping too when none of the Air Vehicles couldn't get very far with Javelins raining on them...😀

Hahah, that's one of the best things to do in the game, weaken something until it's about to pop and they jump out. You murder them, repair their vehicle, and drive off 😀

Best with the attack helis (hard to pull that off unless lucky), or the AA tank on a map like Kharg. Two AA tanks = winning.
 
And zargon had to disconnect because he had to VPN into work for something, and just so happened to join our team and squad on his way back in. :biggrin: Pure coincidence.

I think these new maps officially suck. There's no sense of direction, it's always just a giant free for all. Probably just so many different spawn points and vehicles it just gets stupid, but the design is just off.

When they said it was assault conquest, I figured the flags had to be capped in sequence. Right now, it really doesn't play much different than conquest after the first 5 minutes.
What I would like to see is 6 flags. One each next to each teams uncap. Then the other 4 broken into pairs, such that you have to cap one to attack the next but there are two paths. That way the fight would be contained to a defined front.
