Help! My new system is dead. Help me figure out what the problem is. Please!
P5B Deluxe/Wifi
Core 2 Duo e6600
1GB x 2 Buffalo Firestix FSX800D2C-1G (a pair, 2 GB total) PC2-6400 CL5
Not overclocking, eveything default in BIOS except for disc drive boot order. I think memory is being under clocked to ddr2-667 also (again, by default).
When I put the base system together, everything seemed to run fine. But shortly after (half day maybe) I started getting random BSOD for no known reason. Everytime I thought I had the answer, another random BSOD. Over the next couple of days, the errors were more frequent, and now the system will not boot at all. The last working boot, I was just able to get it into the BIOS settings, but locked up before I could do anything.
When I turn on the system, I get no beeps at all, except the first quick "power on" beep. The fans all go on, there is no video (monitor stays in standby), there are no leds on when the onboard LAN cards are plugged into the router, and the CD seems to spin-up then spin-down after some timeout.
I thought it might (I was hoping) be the power supply, but I just upgraded to a new one, so that has been eliminated. Left to suspect is memory, motherboard, or processor. What should I be taking a look at first?
I'm depressed. I'm building my first high-end system in 5 years, and it's dead.
