Clint, I have seen this when someone at work had his system filled with
spyware. It got so bad he had to reformat. I run WMD without issues but with
Maxtor SATA Raid 0 drives on the ICH5R.
P.S. What are the new ASUS MoBo's about...still 875P based?
That ain't it.
😉 I've reformatted 3-4 times so far. I also run
SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, SpyBot, AdAware, SpySweeper, BPS, HijackThis,
CWShredder, etc., daily.
Yesterday I copied everything from the Maxtor ATA133 that was on the Promise
to a storage part on my WD740, the turn off the Maxtor and disabled the
Promise controller. Now I'll see what happens with that.
No, the 875 chipset is old news of course, already obsolete! :disgust: They
are using s775 now for P4's, that's the 915-925 chipset. I think I also
mentioned earlier that Asus is also no longer using Promise chips on their
boards! They are now using Silicon Image, which may tell you something. I
just set up an AN7 platform for a customer, and it has a Maxtor SATA on the
Si3112 controller, and no errors when running the WMD floppy.
