i think asus has pretty good memory support. While there is a very limited list of qualified memory, i'm sure most of it will work just fine. Chances are, if it's a good brand (Corsair, PQI, OCZ, Crucial, Kingston, Mushkin, etc.), it'll probably run just fine. As for me, i bought some PQI DDR500, so i hope it'll work.

BTW, jdogg, i think most of us with boards right now got them for $201, so we didn't overpay. I have one sitting at my house in cincinnati right now.

Oh, and AlexBMUR, thanks a lot for those pictures. That makes me feel a lot better. Worst case scenario, i'll have to get the 7000. Does anyone know if the lower portion of the 7700 extends any further out than the 7000? If it's just the top portion, then that's fine since it'll just hang over the memory and the heatsink to the left of the socket, i'm just worried that the base will be wider, too. I know what i'm asking for for christmas....yippee!!!!

if i had to make a wager, i'd bet it will work. PDP isn't the best brand, but it's certainly not generic, either. It's like halfway between the top end (Corsair, OCZ, Mushkin, PQI, Crucial, Geil, etc) and the generic memories out there. Besides, if it's based on those Samsung TCCD 2-2-2-5 chips, i don't think it will be an issue. After all, Asus is a good brand, and they only have like 10 specific modules listed in the QVL, so i have to assume it's because they haven't had time to extensively test and qualify every type of memory. Of course, i could be wrong.

buy.com has them for $190, but they are backordered, so if you want to gamble on having to wait a while, you can go ahead and get in line there.

It's not really a gamble actually b/c you can cancel the order before they send it. Therefore, if it gets in stock earlier some where else...i'll cancel my buy.com order.:;)

Anyone else getting CPU fan errors? I have an Athlon 54 3000 retail with stock HSF plugged into the correct fan header, but it spins at 1760 rpm appx. and I keep getting CPU fan failure error upon bootup (even though the fan is definitely spinning)???

Anyone else with a retail HSF, can you check your RPM's? I'd like to see if mine is defective. Thank you.

Can't help you there but I do have a related question.

I'm watercooling my CPU/GPU/Chipset and since I dont have a CPU fan connected my Bios keeps interrupting the boot sequence with a warning. Has anyone figured out a way to disable this warning when not running a CPU fan?

Its so slow it cant detect it, if put on a faster RPM fan it'd detect it.

Thanks Tabb. I believe you are correct. The error does not always occur. I tried disabling Cool 'N Quiet (I think, it was late last night), and the fan seems to have sped up into the low 2000's in rpms. Of course, no error then.

Did anyone else get their mobo with the SLI chip in set for Dual? I believe mine came set for Dual ("Dual" is pointing toward the CPU). The mobo is warning me that I need to plug in that EZ plug power connector for SLI, but I only have 1 card in there. Perhaps that would explain the really weird results I'm having in 3dMark (low frame rates and stuttering that I didn't have with my Tbred 1600 OC'd to 2000 Ghz). I figure that it's got to be either that, the stock video driver I installed with my XFX Geforce 6600GT (soon to be updated), or CPU throttling due to heat issues.

So far, not a huge fan of AS Ceramic thermal compound.

to those lucky owners of this board: is the noise of the chipset fan annoying?
because i'm not sure if i should wait for the a8n-e premium since i actually dont need/want sli but a rather silent pc. the sli boards don't have stack cool, do they?

I'm worried about the chipset fan too and this one doesn't look like it can be replaced if one plans to use SLI :( I've always liked Asus for their passive chipset cooling.

From what I've read that chipset runs very hot, passive cooling may not have been an option.

Did everyone who ordered from Novapcs get there A8N already? I ordered mine on the 9th and the last checkpoint on the ups tracking is Uniondale, NY. Scheduled delivery is Dec. 16th but so far it hasn't left NY.

I'm replacing the chipset cooler with a Koolance water block, and my 6800 Ultra's will be cooled by Innovatek Coolmatic NV40 coolers :)

exdeath,

May I ask how did you get your ULTRA PCI-E? I been looking for the past month all over and can't even get access to one. I have my motherboard here, but no vid card =). Willing to share your secret?
