I just purchased this board & I'm wondering if anyone's had any problems installing 2 7800 GT's on this board. From the initial glances over this board, it looks like it'll be a very tight fit for the 2nd card because of the location of the chipset fan. Any comments, tips & suggestions would be great!

You shouldn't have any issues installing two 7800GTs, although the clearances are close. I have two 7800GTXs with evga's ACS³ Cooling Kits installed and everything fits with the stock or the larger replacement chipset fan.

Everest does show the Mem clock, you have to go to System and then Overclock i believe.

Has anyone been able to get this mobo to run dual channel with all 4 memory banks populated?

If so, do the memory modules in all banks have to be the same size? ie Can I run 2x512 in one set and 2x1GB in the other set and still run in dual channel mode?

What bios revision does this mobo ship with? I don't want to drop the cash on a 3700+ San Diego and an a8n-sli deluxe to find out it won't even post, or have the a64 based boards have the ability to boot anything they're given?

If anyone is interested, there's a 1016 BIOS for the A8N SLI Deluxe modified with newer BIOSes for the Silicon Image and NForce SATA Raid controllers. The SI3114 BIOS is updated to 5.3.14 and the NVRaid BIOS to 5.50. Works fine with the newest NVidia and Silicon Image drivers. It's available from the NVidia forums where attachments are possible. Enjoy!

Yes I got this new 1016 bios because I'm waiting for my opteron 165 to replace my Venice 3000+. Previously I had a very old bios 1003 and my overclock limit was 9x275 = 2475. But after updating the BIOS to 1016 I still hgave the same limitation, and I'm styarting to think it may not be the CPU nut the board limiting my overclock because it's 100% stable at 275x9 but it doesn't even boot at 280 FSB, even if I lower the CPU multiplier to 6 or 7.

So I'm thinkg this POS board can't get past 275 FSB, which means I will not be able to reach 2.7 GHz or more with the opteron. In fact I'll probably have the same limit 275x9. Anyone ever got their FSB to 300 mhz ???

Okay, I have a problem here. I had setup of AMD Athlon64 3700+, eVGA GeForce 7800GTX, Seagate 200GB 8mb cache 7200 RPM ATA HDD, Antec 550w PSU, and this motherboard, which is Asus A8N-SLI deluxe. Recently, I bought an oem version of Western Digtial 250GB 16mb cache 7200RPM SATAII HDD. Now how many cables am I suppose to connect to this drive? I connected the red cable that came with the motherboard and four pin connector from PSU.

I'm asking because my system stops at post screen, and nothing works. Can't even go to BIOS menu because keyboard doesn't work. I tried resetting CMOS but nope! I reconnected my old Seagate drive but still same problem. Did I short circuit the motherboard or something?

I rather not RMA this motherboard to Asus and appreciate any helpful info.

Heya Fellas
I am having to do a complete reinstall due to a HD recognition issue. Couldn't find any info on the forum regarding some of the new drivers, so I thought I'd post my planned proceedure. Let me know if you think its OK:

1- wipe drive and install XP. Install ZA firewall. Install Yukon driver from disk.
2- connect to internet to download and install NForce 6.86 (ONLY install chipset and ethernet drivers) , and Forceware 91.47.
3- update Windows.
4- update BIOS to newest vesion (1016).
5- in BIOS, disable NVRAID and Silicon SATA contoller (I am using a standard HD setup).

Done.

Sounds OK?

I dont know if anyone can help
"Is this a Bug?"

i've had an a8n-sli for a couple months

i have now enabled the Silicon image sata controller
but PC will not boot with it enabled.

It boots past bios and displays

Sata Sil CTRL+S or F4 for config
Seagate
Seagate (List my 2 HDDs)

Then displays
No Valide Deivce Found: Hit any key to continue (No this isnt a typo that is how it appears)

Sata Sil CTRL+S or F4 for config

That is when the computer locks up
Numlock PS2 and USB Keyboard goes off and no System keys work.

However If i disable 2 NVIDIA Sata Controller port i can boot using the Sil Controller.
No Raid functions are enabled on my PC.

BIOS Rev 1014

Any Ideas?

according to the Silicon Image Website there are 3 Bios' available for the same sil3114

1. IDE/Nonraid edition
2. SATARAID or Medley RAID BIOS Raid 0 1 10
3. SATARAID5 BIOS Raid 0 1 5 10

aka can use drives without using raid

however it also mentions you can not update the firmware directly for onboard and must use with the Mobo Bios
anyone know somewhere who made had update/custom bios?
