I paid the extra dollar (!!) for FedEx 2day... Most of us who ordered probably got 2day shipping because it was not much more expensive than ground.

In response to gobucks question about the 7700 ("Does anyone know if the lower portion of the 7700 extends any further out than the 7000?")

In the new review on tomshardware he has a good pic of the two bottoms side by side

Just go here and scroll to the bottom:

http://www6.tomshardware.com/c...alman-cnps7700-04.html

We're all hoping it fits, but there is no definitive answer yet. I emailed Zalman and they said they do not know yet but they would email me back when info was available. Also they said to check their site regularly for and updated list of compatible motherboards. Judging from the pic on tom's site it looks like it will but someone will need to try to know for sure.

For those of you curious about the Zalmans , 7000A and 7700 here is a review of them side by side from THG. Seems like there may be some clearance issues, but since they don't show one on this board...

Oh, Hi all.

Make sure you go with the GPU-180-HO6, I used the GPU-180-LO6 (adjustable inlets) and there is no way it would fit under the second video card. The HO6 has a much lower profile, though from looking at mine it's gonna be tough either way to work that in with an SLI configuration.

I can post a pic if you'd like.

EDIT: looks like that HO6 is for GPU only (though not sure why the difference) You may be in for a tough time watercooling that chip with such tight clearances.

i emailed zalman about the 7700 fitting in the SLI mobo, and here's what i wrote:

I am interested in buying a 7700-AlCu heatsink, and i was wondering if it would fit in the new motherboard i am buying. I am buying the Asus A8N-SLI motherboard (Nforce4 SLI socket 939 chipset) and I was wondering if the 7700 would fit. If not, will the 7000? I am getting the mobo within a few days, so i'd appreciate it if you could let me know as soon as you have any information

here was the response i got:

Thanks for your interest in Zalman's product.

CNPS7000 series and CNPS7700 CPU coolers are recommended.

Regards,
Jinkook Kim/ZALMAN

I take this to mean that the 7700 will fit, but it's kinda vague. Anyways, i'm pretty confident that the 7700 will fit, and i'm gonna ask for the 7700-AlCu for christmas. After all, seeing side by side pictures, it looks like the added diameter is purely on the upper lip, so it will just hang over the capacitors to the left and the memory sockets to the right of the socket, if i'm looking at things right. Anyways, thanks for the info, guys. I'll let you guys know how everything goes with the new PC as soon as i get the rest of my gear. Newegg is supposed to ship today, but xtremegear is being just plain rediculous with the shipping address verification and i have no idea when my 6600GT will ship. They told me my billing address was wrong, then i made them call my bank with me on the line so that i could hear them being proven wrong, and now i still haven't gotten any word of when it will ship. If i have to wait another week and a half to get my PC together, i'm gonna be damn pissed.

exdeath,

May I ask how did you get your ULTRA PCI-E? I been looking for the past month all over and can't even get access to one. I have my motherboard here, but no vid card =). Willing to share your secret?

Michael

I got two from www.buyxg.com when they had 5 in stock for $569

Hi,

May I ask when was this that you placed your order? I think I should just get a 6600 to hold me over as I can't find an ultra if my life depended on it! Thanks for your reply.

Yes please I would like to see a pic.

Looking at this:

http://usa.asus.com/products/m...8nsli-d/a8nsli-d_l.jpg

It seems like there would be plenty of room between the two cards for the L06, is it that much wider?
Also with the Innovatek blocks my cards would only occupy a single slot.

If I remember it was Dec 6th.

I had a hell of a time getting my 6800 Ultra AGP and figured I better stay on top of the PCI Express version. I checked many vendors literally every 10 minutes since October, so when I saw these in stock for not much more than MSRP I grabbed them right away even though I dont have my A8N-SLI yet!

Sounds like you gotta great deal, the only pci-e card i can find other than 6600gt is the 6800gt, and its going for $495 at NEWEGG. Unbeleivable.

Damn you! Oh ye price gouging SLi beauricratic subservient-lacking smacktards!

I was planning on water cooling the chipset too (with the Asetek Chipset Cooler). I could not make it fit (not even close), so I put the chipset fan back (after cleaning off the existing thermal grease, and putting on some AS5).

I hope you have better luck with the Koolance block.

What is the problem with fitting water cooling? Are we talking SLI video card clearance or screw/mounting problems?

It doesn't seem like it'll hit anything, but what people that own smaller or Lian-Li V-1xxx Series cases need to know is will the heatsinks touch the cases. We have our ATX cases flipped.

It was card clearance. When the Asetek chipset waterblock was mounted, the #1 video card was okay, but the #2 was blocked. From the pictures, I thought it may fit, but it didn't.

It's okay... I'm still all set to watercool the CPU and both GPUs.

Got my Innovatek blocks finally! They are back in stock at highspeedpc.com if anyone else is interested. Still need to wait for my A8N-SLI and I plan to run my 6800U PCIe cards with stock coolers for a bit to make sure I won't need to RMA or anything.

The current system before the A8N-SLI goes in:

As for the nForce4... I will find a way if I have to build a custom bracket. The Koolance H06 or L06 should fit!!!

SkyBum, are we talking width or height restriction with the GPU-180-L06?

From the pic here: http://usa.asus.com/products/m...8nsli-d/a8nsli-d_l.jpg

The L06/H06 doesn't look any wider (1.6") than the Asus cooler and judging by that pic it isnt under either of the two cards. I'm judging by the Koolance block being no more wider than the Asus cooler and extrapolating it straight up, it looks to clear both cards... which card are you having problems with, the one close to the CPU or the further one? (which one is considered #2?)

I'm confused now...

Edit: Ah crap I forgot about the retention bar and tension knobs...

How about this: http://www.koolance.com/shop/p..._46&products_id=86

Hard to tell from these pics but the connection on the LO6 sticks out about 1-1/2" from the motherboard. No way in hell a 2nd card is gonna have clearance. The H06 (hope I'm not mixing them up) is much lower profile, though the tube connections are not rotatable on that part which may present its own problems. In addition, the Koolance website does not show that block as being for chipsets.

Good luck, hope you find a solution....

Edit: The block on the GPU is the same as on the chipset, should give you at least an idea of the depth on that block

You sure about that? I see you are all set up with your 1 card and it would probably be a pain to rip off the water block to test fit into the second slot.

In the first pic it looks like a second card would just barely hang over like 1/8" of the corner of the yellow plastic, with the back of the card maybe barely touching the fitting (use some tape or something to insulate the back of the card?)

Ah the plastic is raised higher where the fitting is I think I see now... should be some way to reorient I would think...

Looking at the first pic, could the chipset block be rotated 90 degrees CW so that the 2 fittings are inline with the slots so that the corner under card slot 2 is the corner without the fitting so its more shallow?

If that doesnt work, a custom bracket maybe, more narrow than the koolance bar to allow the block to slide up another 1/8" should do it

My XT (MIGHT) clear the block if there were no water line lugs on it. THe back corner of the card is directly above the tip of the block and nearly flush with the face of it. The retention clip allowed quite a bit of rotation when I placed it but probably not more than 30 degrees each way. Not sure if that would even help you though. Considering that the nVidia cards are even longer than ATI, I just dont think there is enough clearance.

I'd go with the CHC-A05. Place the connection tubes toward the bottom right of the MB at about 45 degrees and you should be good to go. To bad though, the CHC-A05 is only rated for 30 watts vs. 180 watts for the L06. Might be a better solution than these out there for the SLI configuration.

No sorry. I've been looking everyday since this thread started and have found nothing except someone on ebay selling them at around £200 inc del. I'm not willing to get ripped off for this mobo.
