Picked up the game an hour ago. Graphics and commentary are sweet and crisp. Gameplay smooth and fluid. I like it.

I played 2k4 and didn't like it - it was too arcady. Like you could "charge" when running to give yourself some boost and knock tacklers down. Is 2k5 like that?

Argo, you mean you think real NFL players don't 'charge' themselves when they know they're about to do some massive punishment to a DB heading towards them? All the charge does is increase your effectiveness with a certain special move. That doesn't mean the defense can't stop you.

It looks like the Xbox Live servers are having some problems tonight so I didn't get a chance to do any online gaming, but I did have a chance to play the first person mode... Let me give this it's own section...

MY FREAKING GOD. That is the most awesome and innovative gaming feature I have seen in a looong time. I honestly felt like what a qb must feel like when looking around at his receivers trying to figure out where the db's were going and if that linebacker that just disappeared from my peripheral was about to lay the smack down on my ass. The greatest is when it switches to your receiver who catches the ball, turns around, and comes face to face with Ray Lewis. The next thing you know you're looking at the grass.

I thought it was pretty damn cool that I got to play a VIP match against David Arquette's VIP earlier. One of my friend's did the same against Jamie Kennedy.

I'm sorry Madden fanboys. This game is far more innovate and 'cool' than Madden. I used to love that franchise but unless EA has some rabbit in the hat I'm hereby proclaiming this the greatest football game since Madden '92!

Really stupid Q here. Is there a normal "season" mode, or do you have to play thru the Franchise mode?

I think there is just Franchise but I'm pretty sure you can just ignore all the normal 'franchise' type stuff and play the regular season. Salary cap and stuff won't even matter if you're just looking to play one season.

Just finished a couple of games (as my 'Skins) and wow. It looks great. The button change up has tossed me for a bit of a loop though. I'm still getting used to them. The graphics are sweet (Xbox). RB's are not supermen any more. And the D seems to take better lines of pursuit.

I'm gonna play a few more games and then play against my VIP. I'll be interested to see how that works.

Man, why cant Sega make a NCAA based game. I mean EA's is alright, but I hate how EA has to dumb down the graphics for the playstation 2 version. Why cant they enhance the graphics for xbox version?

The D definitely improved. The DBs are much improved at defending against against the short passing game. My 2k4 money plays are gone!

Kick returns have gotten harder too. In 2k4 I was disappointed if I got stopped before the 40 (I was racking up a kick return for TD 'bout every other game). Now I'm lucky if I get past the 20. So far I like all the improvements/changes. I really like "preparing" for the next game and being about to scout out the other team. I think it's cool too that you can schedule drills/film viewing and the like to try and prep your team for the next game.

I think anytime you try out a football game yer gonna get yer butt kicked even if you were really good on your old football game. Before I got my Xbox I was king on NFL2k2 on my Dreamcast. When I bought ESPN NFL 2k4 for my Xbox I think it took me a dozen games before I started winning. Just be patient. 2k5 is a really good game IMO. I'm just now getting used to all the defensive adjustments you can do before the snap.

I've had this game for about a week now and it's definitely getting better. Last night I kicked the crap outta the 49ers, 21-7. I did have to take the interceptions slider down a bit. But other than that it just takes some practice. This game is great. I've had some very good games now that I'm getting the hang of it.

I've had this game for about a week now and it's definitely getting better. Last night I kicked the crap outta the 49ers, 21-7. I did have to take the interceptions slider down a bit. But other than that it just takes some practice. This game is great. I've had some very good games now that I'm getting the hang of it.

I finally figured the computer out on All Pro and smashed the Jags 52-3 last night. I'm not even moving that difficulty level up another notch though.

Have any of you noticed that the refs tend to call a LOT more penalties on your computer controlled players as opposed to their own?
