Obviously the young girls are voting like mad for him (as they did for John Stevens). And Simon calling Kevin apalling Tue made them feel the need to vote. He shouldn't have even made it to the top 20. He also acted like a spoiled little brat Tue. Definately not an 'idol'. And I wish Paula and Randy would shut up with Simon gives his comment. Simon was spot on Tue for Kevin.

I always want the ones that are annoying, or think they're 'all that' to go. That would be (in order): Brenna (gone), Katharine, Paris, and in a way, Kevin (plus the terrible singer thing). All 4 get on my nerves. Yeah I know Katharine is cute and sings very well but I don't like her.
Last year it was definately Scott Savol and Mikalah Gordon.

Kellie, the poor thing, is just too dumb. I cringe thinking what she'll say next.

I don't know that Kellie is dumb. Assuming she's not putting on an act, I think the best we can guess about her is that she's naive. Given that she grew up in a small town and hadn't seen much of the wider world prior to American Idol, I'm not surprised that she comes off as unintelligent. She's funny as hell though.

I'd be happy if Taylor won. The guy is one hell of a performer, and he's just completely different in a good way. The gray hair, harmonica, and stiff yet energetic dancing makes him stand out.

She does seem like a genuinely nice and real person though. Neither of which I'd guess about Katharine.

If anything I would think its the other way around.

Oh, and the best female singer is Mandisa. Just behind her, IMO, are Katharine and Paris.

And Bucky and Kevin need to be off the show.

katherine and mandisa have different styles, but i think katherine is as good as mandisa. i'm still not sold on paris tho.
 
I can't friggin' believe Kevin is still on this show. The idea that he is one of the top 11 unsigned singers in the United States is just laughable. I imagine if you brought 1000 people, selected at random, into a room and asked them to sing, he wouldn't even be in the top 50. I guess I just don't get it . . .

Well I don't know for sure, but it seems obvious to me. I've gotten pretty good at reading people in my 'old' age.

I'd say Chris is a little better than (or at least on par with) Mandisa, and way better than Paris. Chris is better than the lead singers in many of the new rock bands that have come out in the past decade. How he's not already doing that, I don't know.

Kevis is just...wow. The worst singer and performer to make it this far in the history of the show. And someone needs to do a video edit of him singing with his hand in his pocket. What a dork.

2. I thought it was good. <shrug>
3. I agree 100%. What good do they think they're doing? Simon calls it like it is, most of the time. Like Simon always says, it's a damn singing competition.

 
A few random observations (they may seem mean-spirited to some, but I'm a pragmatist!):

- Winning would actually hurt Chris Daughtry - he needs to be in a rock band, not a solo artist burdened by an American Idol recording contract.

- Kevin Covais sucks to a degree that is almost unbelievable.

- Katharine McPhee is much bustier than I had ever noticed before. I am developing quite a crush on her, and she's a wonderful singer. I'd like to see her win.

- Mandisa is very talented, but it's simply unrealistic to think that the public will embrace a woman this obese, at this point in her career. I don't see her winning.

- Similarly, I really like Taylor Hicks, but he's not American Idol material - he's better than that in many respects, but in any case he isn't going to sell any records to teenagers.

- Bucky Covington should be gone soon, along with Lisa Tucker.

- Paris is really, really weird looking at times, but very talented.

- I don't care at all about Ace Young, and I'm quite sure I never will.

- Kelli Pickler is very talented and could easily win, which is odd in that she's kind of a slightly inferior version of Carrie Underwood.

- Elliott Yamin really needs to get those teeth fixed before he'll be marketable. Very talented singer, though.

I think the real contenders are Chris Daughtry, Kelli Pickler, and Katharine McPhee. We shall see . . .

actually, simon said she was better than Underwood. and the one performance i heard from underwood on this show (she did a guest performance this season) wasn't anywhere near as good as kellie song tonite.

she definitely has a shot at winning, i don't think she is the best vocalist, but she has potential to win.

Wasn't Chris in a band before this? The lead singer of a band is usually not enough to take band all the way, so maybe the rest of his band just isn't that good.

Kevin Covais is the devil but like Simon said he has an audience and that's who will keep him out of the bottom three, at least for the next couple of weeks.

I agree with Bucky and Lisa. I didn't like the song Taylor picked (It was waaay to repetitive) but I don't think he'll hit the bottom three. He's just too fun to watch out there.

I'm thinking either Ace or Kevin as the last member of the bottom three.

Yeah I had liked every Taylor performance, but last night's wasn't great. His Doobie Brothers performance was top notch. And he has the hair to match. 🙂

Too bad there's not a way to keep people under a certain age, say 16 (contestant min. age), to stop them from keeping all the junk in. With that, Kevin would never have made it. And Ace would probably be gone by now.
Make a Teen Amercian Idol for the kiddies to vote in.

I didn't think Bucky was near as bad as Lisa last night. Bucky needs to learn how to not make everything sound country though.

See there's the problem with Americans and music today. It shouldn't be about looks.
I hope Katharine gets booted just because she looks so good and she thinks she does. :evil:

But considering the ugly thing that won two years ago, and the obese person the year before that, Mandisa has just as good, if not better, chance at winning as the others.

Your probably right about Chris though.

i actually agree with you 100%.

there is a rumor going around that McPhee is pregnant. i must say her last two outfits did look something along the maternity line. maybe that is why her boobies seem to be getting bigger by the episode too.

i think Pickler is going to win it all, and Daughtry will go on his merry way like Bo Bice did without those American Idol contracts. Daughtry is by far my favorite overall, but yet i hope he is only the runner up.
