Let me start by saying that I am the least likely person to start this show. Historically, I never gave 2 shits about it, until now...

I've learned that the gf of one of my best friends (and a good friend of mine herself) is going to Hollywood 😀 So I'll have to tune in and watch the madness unfold with the actual Idol fans this season. 😛 Her name is Brenna Gethers (Idol Interview).

Talk amongst yourselves!

2/16 EDIT: So Brenna has made it to the votes 🙂 She's also ruffling lots of feathers along the way, lol.

They are seriously working overtime to paint her as this mouthy villain, highlighting the group audition issues with that other girl. This interview gives a better picture of what having a convo with her is like. But as far as the edited segments go, it's basically like she said when she got the good news, "Let's make good TV". One thing that can't be questioned is that I think she's already shown her ability to deal with pressure without falling apart, something that is essential for being in that kind of spotlight.

Even with that said, there's only really one thing I take issue with... I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but they haven't even shown her sing--every other contestant got to have their solo "Hollywood Week" performance aired last episode. If the person you like has a bad week, you are willing to give them a break in the votes. Same for a person you may not favor so much, but has an undeniably strong voice. I just hope she gets a fair shake when America goes to vote based on the buildup. The girl CAN sing. She's not there in the top 24 for no reason, you'll see 😉

In closing, to anyone who doesn't usually vote: let's get the ATOT Effect going behind Brenna!

The problem with it now is that 1/2 the people just know they really suck but they go on and do something stupid just hoping to be the next William Hung.

I do get a kick out of those that honestly think they are good but are obviously horrible.

Actually according to my friend's experience, there were like 2 callbacks before even getting in front of the Paula/Randy/Simon tribunal... meaning that even though they insist on the show's integrity, any absolutely horrible contestants are most certainly staged/pushed thru to that point.

Yeah, one of our co-workers went to the tryout a couple years ago. I, of course, didn't want to be the one to tell her she wasn't good enough or bad enough to make it onto the show. She got back and said she didn't even make it past the first round.

Unfortunately, for how long the wait is for even the first callback, you really do yourself a favor by knowing if youre good/bad enough to continue 😛

In Boston, the tryout was at Gillette Stadium... apparently consisted of hours of waiting in line outside in a torrential downpour.

I love American Idol.
Its definately a guilty pleasure.

At least its only once per year so I do look forward to it.

I love it when they tell those that can't sing that they suck.
I hate it when they tell those that can't sing that they are good.
