Did they change directors or something? The show dropped like a rock after the second season.
Like most TV shows Alias has several directors who split the episodes. JJ Abrams has said he was dissapointed with season 3 and promised to fix it this season...

I don't like the style to a lot of fox dramas, but it sure beats ABC's pussification.

WTF are you smoking? She was absolutely the hottest I have ever seen in that outfit and hair. She is SMOKIN in blonde hair like that. I am only half way done with the episode and all I have to say is FVCKING AWESOME. It is so much like the first season. They are doing an outstanding job of bringing the show back to where it should be. A+ JJ Abrahms

If FX ran it, it would KICK ASS.

Ok, I just watched the 2 hour premiere. Wow.

I've been reading over the hiatus that JJ Abrams plans to bring the show "back to its roots" -- I didn't realize he'd put the "team" back together! >.<

It's certainly intruiging (as usual) and I definitely have my predictions/guesses/brain farts about how the season will play out. I'm also going to cheat and find out who else they're hiring as guest stars, etc. :p

Anyone that wants a synopsis of the premiere can LMK, too :D :D :D I'll try to include some background information about this season's "key" players as well. :D

Cheers,

RaDragon

Can you post a summary of the first episode in season 4 here? I won't have a tv for a while.

I'd definitely go rent the first 3 seasons if you liked the first ep of season 4. You can't possibly understand all the little things from the show if you don't know the history between all the different characters. I'm sure it will still make sense but knowing the background makes it SO much more interesting.

Oh, and anyone that doesn't think Jennifer Garner is increidlby HOT needs their eyes checked... She's gorgeous.

I think the reason season 3 fell apart was the loss of Sydney's mother (the actress). They had to adjust to that, and you could really tell they were pushing it. Hopefully they can somehow pull it off this season. We'll see.

I think Lena Olin just wanted more money and hence they had to write her out... oh well. :(

I didnt watch the last season because I lost a little interest but decided to watch the season premiere. I thought it was pretty good, but not as good as I thought it'd be.

I'm not sure what happened with Lena Olin, but isn't Ken Olin (producer?) her husband?

IMDB states that Lena Olin's father was Stig Olin so Ken can't be the husband... ;) Can't be a brother either since he's from Chicago and she's from Sweden.

EDIT>>> Oh it says her spouse is Lasse Hallström.

Pure coincidence on Alias I presume.

Lena Olin refused to come back to the show; therefore, her death by Jack Bristow.

And RaDragon - didn't last night's episode actually show the documents in the safe box at the end of Season 3 contain papers not showing Sydney's training, but of her mom being killed? She already had flashbacks and knew she was put into that secret school and trained as a child. (The flashbacks, the episode where she did those building blocks like the kids did, etc)

I haven't seen any scenes where her mom's being killed... that came out of left field (unless I missed something somehow).

EDIT>>> RADragon's write-up of the 3 seasons is pretty accurate (not to mention descriptive)... didn't read it till now. Oh and didn't see that comment about Lena Olin being greedy till now... I guess the rumors were true ? RB: what does "refused to come back" really mean? Anyway, good job RD.

They didn't show her being killed. I guess that was just there way of writing her out of the script.

She refused to come back to the show from what I heard. :p What more can I say about it?

she was prettty good. but i suppose when your character gets locked up in a prison for most of the season you'd want to quit. the murder of her mother definitely came from left field.

Did anyone notice that what they revealed in the safe deposit box was NOT what was posted after that episode ended? It's supposed to say that Jack "planned" her life since her conception. That is, it is not accident that she joined the secret program at 12 and went on to become a spy. She was born for it.

BTW, ABC pulled the "document" from the website soon after they posted it.

RossMan - Irina is Sydney's mother.

This was much better than the occasional instant message between Irina and Jack. Lena was good in the show. I wish she would have continued it. It's a good way to move on though.

When was that posted? I thought we already knew sydney was a project all along? The end of season three seemed to imply the classified papers may have been more to that... but not necessarily.

Yup, but somehow, I thought it'd be about something else... I do remember the flashbacks scene, though, and how Jack Bristow had his own "Project Christmas" via training his daughter.

Thanks. I thought people might not like some of my character descriptions. :)

This is what I'm talking about! I thought I was dreaming when I "learned" about this. Somehow, though, they changed the plot (or document info) to reflect Jack Bristow's actions -- e.g., killing Sydney's mother.

RE: Dead Mom
Is Sydney's mom really dead? Do people really die in Alias?
I don't think Jack Bristow can put himself to killing his ex-wife, then again, I know they don't want to complicate the story anymore, but I don't think that the so-called "bringer of destruction" (according to Rambaldi) will just die like that in the hands of Jack... There's something else to it, darnnit! :p
