Just got 2500+ from newegg yesterday, running 11X200 on stock core with some generic PC3200 from Fry's. I love it.

I just got one of these with the brown packaging and it seems to run cooler, the multiplier went to 12.5 on stock voltage, but the FSB didn't really want to move at all, 180 was the highest it would go on stock voltage.

The green packaged one I have is running at 200FSB/11 multiplier and stock voltage with retail HSF.

The color isn't what I'm talking about... although the new packaging seems to be only in green, no browns. Here... look at the differences... this is what I'm talking about...

Look at the two different Galleries... the week 30 has the traces visible, the week 24 doesn't.

Hmmm I have this chip http://www.neffing.com/pics/displayimage.php?album=60&pos=0 from your gallery, but mine has brown packaging with visible traces. I'm not sure how to tell which week it is from (got it from newegg on Tuesday). The black tag says: AXDA2500DKV4D Y881757260219 then: AQXEA 0334SPMW

That's a week 34, and if rumor holds true, it's a downgraded XP2600
rolleye.gif
but an XP2600 Barton? Maybe that rumor is only true for Thoroughbred CPU's? Anyway... the brown packaging with those visible traces is new to me... got any pictures? I'd like to see them.

I will borrow a digital camera and snap some pics for you over the weekend. I don't know how well the XP2600s overclock, but this new packaged 2500+ wasn't very impressive in the overclocking that I did.

I just got my xp2500+ barton processor with heatsink and fan, got a nf7-s version 2.0 board and 2 x 256 mb ddr pc3200 OCZ EL platinum ram chips. I have a geforce 4 mx 440 PCI. wheni installed everything it ran at 3200+ with 200fsb settings. Everything booted up and windows ran fine. SO i decided to lower it to the normal settings at 166mhz and it runsa t 2500+ now. I noticed that wheni tried running quake 3 at 3200+, the computer simply restarted, i think i twas becasue of some voltage setting that had not been increased. ANywyas, now at 2500+, after a long periopd my motherboard starts giving some noises whenim running quake 3. This only happened 2mtimes so far. I dont know whats up. And when i shut down, it always restarts instead of switching off, anyone know how i can rectlify this problem? Also, i want to overclock it at 3200+ and run it with the same heatsink and fan that i got with it. Pls temm me what settings i need to change. DO i ony chnage the corevoltage and to what valuse, or do i alsp chanfe the ddr sdram voltage, etc. Pls advise. THe cpu ran at 50C when overclocked and under heavy load. Let me know. These are my default settings.

fsb 166
cpu core voltage 1.65
ddr sram voltage 2.6
chipset voltage 1.6
agp voltage 1.5

Also i have a 450 watt power supply with 3 dan speed settings. I keep it at full speed when i overclock the processor. Just let me know what u think i should do .

THanks

I've got my AQEXDA 0327 2500+ @ 2.31GHZ (11.5x200) @ 1.775V on an Abit NF7-S Rev.2 Motherboard. Tried going higher but my RAM is pretty much shot when it comes to overclocking, OCZ Platinum PC3200 (Does 2-2-2-11 @ Default)...I've tried raising the Vcore but really don't get anything higher, system will boot into Windows @ 12x200 @1.85V, but then crashes when I run Prime.

Does your week 27 have the new packaging?

Mine is now at 11 x 200 1.7 volts, retail HSF. 42 Degrees Idle. 48-49 Full load.

I'll try more when I have some time.

Waiting for the second CPU but currently I have 1 x 2500+ at 2.45 (17 x 144) not too shabby :)

i'd like to see people post the case cooling situations. Case and fans. How fast those fans are spinning.

After trying to find a Barton @2500MHz on a few FS/T forums and having no luck I'm going to do it the old fashioned way. I have a 2500+ on the way from Monarch. I've heard they have some good chips shipping lately and I don't have to pay sales tax from them.
I'll post the stepping and overclock when it gets here in a few days.

With stock HSF, you should be able to reach 11x200. I've seen many successful cases. Try bumping up the voltage to 1.7 or even 1.75 V. I took my Vdimm to 2.8 with no problems.

I don't understand why you went back to 2500+ speeds after you reached 3200+ speeds. Try clearing CMOS and restarting the process, and take it slowly.

Yeah I managed to successfully overclock it and making it stable by increasing the voltage to 1.75; however, I reverted back to the original settings because the temp went up to 56C max after I played Quake3 for a while. I don't know if reaching such a temperature is OK for my system but I didn't want to take any risks. If its fine then i'll switch back to it since I didn't encounter any problems, just the temp scared me a bit.

Thanks for the response.

It's only too hot if its unstable.

how are we suppose to tell YOU if YOUR computer is stable at 3200+ ?

imo, 56C load is fine.

I got the 2500+ from Monarch today. It's running at 2400MHz (220 x 11) with 1.9V. Prime95's been going for about an hour so far. I am very happy with this chip.:)
2500MHz wouldn't go with up to 1.9V and I don't want any more voltage than that.
So, for $84. shipped and no sales tax, this worked out very well.

AQXEA 0331 TPMW "9"

Air cooled with slk-800, panaflo H1A and 4.5" duct through side panel.

What kind of temps are you getting at that voltage?

And is it safe to crank the volatge up that high? I'd like to get my chip up to 2.4GHZ but don't know how high I should adjust the temps, I've got the system watercooled.

I don't know. I don't have any hardware monitoring software installed right now. I've noticed that Prime95 will give errors or lock up if the chip is too hot.
My 2100+ @2400MHz, 1.9V ran at 45C under load. Before I put the duct in my temps were 8C higher. I don't trust software temp readings unless they are off the diode and my Abit MB doesn't support that, so...

Thanks for the info, my chip right now will run in the 30's right now @ 1.825V under load....wish I could get my water temps down...
