Yeah. They were way down, looked like it might slip under $200 after being almost $230..

It's rebounded somewhat.

BTW what do you think of WDC?

Saw it in a few recommendations that they're bullish on the stock but it's already done a 3x this year.

Also unlike micron.. it has competition from Seagate and Sandisk.

Might be a good stock to own inside an index again rather than individual due to risks.

I haven't traded HD stocks in a while but with data center demand continuing to grow you'd have to assume those stocks will be fine long term.

I traded WDC and STX during the run up following the covid collapse and did very well. That was back when I recklessly sold puts bur I don't recall any of them ever getting exercised.

Of course - you'd have had to actively try to lose money during those 6-8 to not do well.

Interesting..

I have 3 of mag 7 as individual stocks. But the fundamentals for all of them are there. They make money.. I could ride it out, maybe DCA and add.

Might be a good time to buy the index since thought it was full of inflated P/E and AI stocks.

I almost never buy individual companies but several months ago, I bought a round lot of Dwave.

My main reason was the fact that they've been around for decades. So, they have ring side seats for the carnage that is sure to come.

It looks like I got unbelievably lucky - this is one of those times where you can just sit back and enjoy the show.

And in other news, Trump is chasing shorts out of quantum stocks with yet another 'possible' equity stake. As if even more money will hasten discovery. Seems they did fine with shoestring budgets before everyone and their sister gave them billions.

Yet, quantum is only barely viable in its current state. The only real accomplishment I can think of (and it doesn't even have to do with compute) is securing satellite communications by using quantum states in secure messaging:

And no, Im not short. I just think it is still very premature to put this much money into quantum at this time.

Its like funding for fusion reactors....fairy dust and magic beans is what you get.

From my limited understanding, quantum computing is only superior for problems where there are a lot of variables involved and therefore, a tremendous number of possible combinations.

The perfect example of this is the "traveling salesman problem. Say that a sales person has a couple dozen clients. You want to know, what the shortest possible route that covers all of them.

Now, if you only have say, a half dozen clients. The number of possible combos is still pretty huge. But if it's a few dozen, now you're getting close to the problem being beyond normal, digital computers.

But with a quantum computer, where each qubit can hold more than one value at a time, potentially, each qubit can simultaneously have multiple values, the problem becomes workable, just don't ask me how, precisely.

They're also good for simulating the behavior of systems of quantum variables where each photon or other particle is in a super-posed state. But again, just don't ask me to get any deeper.

The point though is that QCs are not "general purpose" devices. Their superiority is only on certain classes of problems - P vs NP IIRC.

Quantum computing has a much higher error rate vs conventional computing. It's improving along with error correction but still not viable where data integrity needs to be at its absolute best.

That was shocking, a 500 lb deer being chased through a small window by a 1200 lb brown bear and a struggle for life and death ensues.

But the question is... who puts cameras in a bathroom ....aimed square at a toilet? 😱

And look, here is another:

A pandemic of bears chasing deers through windows!

AI dude. Come on.

The deer looked real though.. and can and has been known to happen..

Like in this long island hair salon..

Would you like Gel or Moose?

I get it. The uncanny valley is different for everyone.. And I am sure I wont be able to decipher ai from real in a year or two either... But as of right now, just look for the newtonians in videos, AI wont get it right cause it doesnt correlate the output according to physics. Yet.

Probably the same company which promises affordable electric cars nextgen solar utility battery solutions full self driving robo tax... checks notes humanoid robots. (that might protect people from bears and deers)
