It could go down again next year (which I hope happens to some degree).
It is somewhat common for local maximums to be right around New Year's Eve or the first trading day after New Year's. The timing depends on whether big investors want to lock in profits for a good year or delay taxes until the next year. Of course I don't have a functional crystal ball, but it feels like a similar year where we'll have a nice peak towards the end of the year and a selloff throughout January.

Examples of top analysts having widely divergent thoughts on where the market will go in 2024.

Last week a JPMorgan analyst said we would be back to 3500 with the S&P 500 in mid 2024. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/prepare-p-500-plunge-23-204729749.html

Today I read on Bloomberg that we will be up to 5200 in 2024. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...toltzfus-sees-record-high-for-s-p-500-in-2024

Depends on whether the rate cuts happen or not and if they can keep AI hype going without China.

Analysts just throw up a bunch of numbers and see which sticks. The guy who is right will claim prognostication and the guy who is wrong will just disappear. Just keep hanging on and buying, particularly the cheaper stuff like small caps, real estate and international.

Works for Jim Cramer. He does it with a loud voice and attention-grabbing background noises to set himself apart.

This has been a fabulous week for me. Won the biggest jackpot so far this weekend.

I was down to my last 80 (from 1k), found a machine that that hit a mini jackpot on a 2.50 bet, bringing me back to $805.

Then I suddendly remembered this particular machine from a while back I was lucky on before. Bet 9.60 and won 10k:

Biggest single jackpot in 15 years. I was shocked but non plussed as I had them withhold a good chunk for income tax.

The trick now is to not give it back, because you never really win, you just borrow from the casino. 🤨

Nope, nobody was really there since it was around 11AM. There about 20 guys raising hell at a craps table next to me. I filmed the whole thing from the beginning....and you can hear them going crazy in the background at their table.
You really shouldn't be gambling your social security checks. Slot machines or the stock market.

In other news, my brother wants to buy CAVA. They are expanding into our state of Texas. The Chipotle of specialized gyros and salads? We are waiting for a pullback.
