The downturn in the markets the last hour of Friday's trading got me to be prepared for a big recession where I'm expecting my mutual funds and Alphabet stock to sink 50% for an indefinite length of time. At least I have cash to live on for about 5 years. That was a knee jerk reaction said in frustration and an exaggeration. Except the cash part is true.
 
Sell tech, buy financials like the XLF.


Banks start reporting 4th quarter numbers next week. The higher rates go, the more money they make.

I could smell a sector rotation coming towards the end of December. Moved to total market.
 
Three banks in my stocks watchlist for a few years. But never ever bought any of them or any bank stock except in small amounts in mutual funds. Now I may not have much choice but to trade in them. Or else sit around in boredom. I don't short stocks.
 
Looks like they are throwing the baby out with the bathwater today.

I rewatched Margin Call (2011) again on Sunday.

He said that rates will stay relatively low for the foreseeable future, or something to that effect.
Maybe he'll continue in that vein in 3 months and 6 months "I was just talking tough, I never really intended to do anything with interest rates." /sarcasm
 
An interesting thing I noticed was NASDAQ going out of the gate much higher compared to S&P. There was a sizeable selloff a little while ago. Now the NASDAQ and S&P 500 are nearly neck and neck for gains. Another sign of rotation.
 
Anyone have uranium/nuclear stocks? It seems like the world is starting to understand that nuclear will be necessary for the transition to renewables.
