You seem to get pissed if anyone says anything negative about the Cowboys period, and not just Romo. I remember posting a series of funny Jerry Jones pictures in one of the weekly NFL threads last year and you got all pissed.

I've actually been defending Romo to a lot of people lately.

I expect any fan to defend their favorite team. Some care, some don't - I do. And since I have a "reputation," I have no doubt that there's people who want to get me spun up. People don't have to be insulting, but they choose to.

eh, everyone hates Jerry Jones and the general smugness that must accompany the true believer's of "America's team" (no one outside of Dallas believes this) or "God's team," as they are also known.

That's why everyone has vocal, legit reasons to hate the Cowboys.

Also, the cracksmoking pederasts like Michael Irving that remain in their HoF.

That being said, I don't hate on Romo like most, but any self-respecting follower of the NFL understands that he's a lower tier-2 QB on his best day (that's actually not a horrible thing. More than half the league would gladly start him, I think).

SO this is what you were going-on about last night? :D

The Cowboys never labeled themselves as "America's Team" - that was done by an NFL employee who was cutting tape for some previews for the upcoming season or game. Sorry, don't see this as a vocal OR legit reason to dislike a team, just a stupid one. As for the comment about Michael Irving, what about Chris Collinsworth, the old Raiders teams, Namath, and players on a lot of other teams that don't have great reputations? I very rarely see them knocking on those guys.

And on to Romo - here's some stats, I wonder if you can pick out Romo without looking it up.

Code:
3500 Comp TD:INT Rating
9 64% 300:115 96.4
1 52% 212:210 70.9
4 58% 185:129 82.1
13 65% 399:198 94.9
4 64% 163:78 95.5
4 65% 132:38 104.1
3 63% 165:100 92.1
3 65% 149:72 96.9
3 64% 232:107 96.8
7 66% 281:146 94
6 63% 273:139 92.3
1 50% 173:220 65.5
0 57% 152:138 80.5
- 57% 153:109 83.4
5 57% 300:226 79.9
14 62% 508:336 86

The 3,500 column is how many 3,500 yard seasons they've had. These are the players:
Tom Brady
Terry Bradshaw
Eli Manning
Bart Starr
Roger Staubach
John Elway
Peyton Manning
Philip Rivers
Aaron Rodgers
Ben Roethlisberger
Joe Namath
Brett Favre
Tony Romo
Steve Young
Drew Brees
Joe Montana

Everyone knocks Romo because he doesn't have a ring from the Super Bowl - but last I checked, there are a lot of players on a football team. A QB can only carry them so far, the defense has to step up, there has to be a functional running game, etc. Listen to Colin Cowherd - he had a good segment on that this morning.

Peyton Manning is the fourth line. :D Favre is the last.

i thought jerry jones labeled them that so i looked it up on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America's_Team

The nickname originated with the team's 1978 highlight film, where the narrator opens with the following introduction:
They appear on television so often that their faces are as familiar to the public as presidents and movie stars. They are the Dallas Cowboys, "America's Team"

Oops, highlight reel - not preview! But yes, huge misconception that provides incentive for people to dislike them - there's a comment about how Landry didn't like it as well.

I have removed the dougp Svnla pissing match so that the rest of you don't have to wade through it to talk about football. Hopefully they will not be addressing each other and derailing this thread again.

Anyone ready to watch the Titans upset the Patriots today? If there's a week to do it then it's definitely week 1. The reality is we'll probably get smoked by double digits but it's fun to think there's hope before the game starts.

Rg3!!! Skins winning 3-0
You meant he failed in the red zone and the kicker has to pick up the points? You should be typing Skins' KICKER!!!

Anyways, it's 7-3 Saints now. Go cry in a corner, doesn't matter, just pick a corner and go cry in.
