He was my first round pick, but I don't feel good about it

McFadden was usually getting picked in a slot where you just had to pick him up. He's an every down back that was a beast last year before he got injured. I think this is finally going to be his year.

MFadden is having a good day if you are in a PPR league.

This is an ugly game. Chargers just can't seem to do anything on offense. Thank the Raiders for the lead they have.

The games last night:

Ravens vs. Bengals. I expected the Ravens to wax the Bengals but they looked even better. The offense was looking very good last night, they are easily a top team in the AFC. The only real positive things for the Bengals is that they did keep a close ball game until the 3rd quarter and they were able to run the ball on the Ravens, Benjarvus Green Ellis looked pretty good.

Chargers vs. Raiders. The Chargers beat the Raiders more than what is shown on the scoreboard. Who knows if it was the Raiders defense or the lack of running game by the chargers but they were held to too many field goals. 5 field goals, 3 of them in the Red zone? Jeez. Special teams really hurt the Raiders, the Chargers got great field position throughout the game.

Raiders played pretty sloppy but Palmer looked decent enough, Mcfadden was held to 32 rushing yards but did manager to get 86 receiving yards. Rivers looked decent enough as well, the inability to score only one td when the Raiders were handing the game over to them on special teams is of something to note.

I'd feel good about it if he weren't so injury prone. I'd cringe watching him run, expecting the worst if I had him.

yeah, McFadden is awesome, but I can't see anyone picking him in a first round. Same with Ryan Matthews...but, well, he has never been "awesome" when he isn't injured.

SD is really hurting in the run game. WTF would they let Tolbert go? Shouldn't they, of all people, understand the history with Matthews?

Tolbert is/was a beast! :(

That makes no sense to me, either. So instead of having hard running "Kool-Aid Man" to pick up the slack, they have an assortment of 4+ backs, none that effective at running the ball or receiving. It really was a comedy of errors by the Raiders, or I doubt the Chargers would hVe won (though I do have to give some credit to the SD defense last night).

and Oakland let Michael Bush go to the Bears....so the bears are pretty well stacked now on both sides of the ball, after the summer that they had.

I honestly think the NFC comes down to GB, Chicago, and SF (can't count out NO, though).

AFC....Baltimore, NE, and Texas? :\ oh, Denver, too. damn...Denver.

yeah but no one ever gives them credit. It's never stopped them before, so why should I change that now?

Hell, look at Eli--just about everyone now puts him at elite status--primarily based on his ballsy performances in 2 big games, despite his overwhelming mediocrity through the regular season through much of his career. Hell, the giants tend to barely eek out playoff berths then go nuts, somehow.

But I like Eli a lot, now. I still think he's a lower-tier QB than a guy like Rivers, but I can't think of a QB that is more clutch than Eli. Hell, go back and look at Brady's record in the playoffs, let alone the SB. pretty terrible. :D

Eli got 2 rings, while Rivers got none, and both were draft from the same class. Even Big ben got 2 rings, and he's also from the same draft class.

and how many of those guys had to play under Norv Turner?

:(

again--you can look at how someone plays in one or two games (yes, this is important in the superbowl), and you can look at how they play, and their team plays over an entire season.

Rivers and the Bolts have been consistently better than than Eli and the Giants over that same time period. The Giants (and Eli) only seem to turn it on when they make their late season runs. and to be fair, Rivers has looked like regular-season Eli in his playoff appearances. He looks like freaking Dan Marino for the rest of the seasons (excluding the last season).

:hmm:

maybe Rivers just looks like Dan Marino all the time! :D

only 2 issues i see with Chicago are Lovie smith and the O-line. the o-line seemed to do better the 2nd half of the game. so maybe that will be ok.
