They definitely still have work to do. I think this kind of major shakeup is exciting especially since I'm not a flyers fan. If I was I might be swimming in emotion since chances would be my favorite player is now gone.

I agree with your numbers for the most part. Simmonds might get a bit more because that guy steps it up in the playoffs but not too much more.

It looks like the Richards trade included a 2nd round going back to LA so I think that adds to LAs favor on the trade quite a bit. LA won by a little but i feel like Philly got the edge in the Carter trade. If Schenn is as good ad I think he can be and starts next year, that might change.

LA fan fap time:
Trade off Smyth and get some of those picks you've traded off back. Hire Brad Richards.

Flyers made out like fucking bandits on the Carter deal. I think they fucked up w/ Richards, but it could work out well for them in the end. Kings STILL have no star scoring wingers. -_-

While I like the Carter trade not sure about the Richards trade, but I can understand it.

The Flyers really don't have any "blue chip" kids ready or close to ready to come up, I guess Simmonds and Schenn help to replenish the pipeline. Give them some younger bodies.

But, if signing Bryzgalov is a win now move, getting younger doesn't make sense, unless there is another mover or two to be made.

But of course none of this matters if Pronger can't play.

hurricanes fan, hopefully theyll pick a defensive prospect in the first round that will pan out. they dont have anyone exceptional in the system and they arent likely to pay for a great d man anytime soon

id like to see them pick a worthwhile goalie prospect at some point, as well, as they dont seem to have anyone particularly interesting in the AHL right now, and a good backup for cam would be nice (seriously, 70 starts last season; thats outright retarded)

i havent paid that much attention to who the most interesting names are for the draft, since i cant watch them i dont really remember who is who. *Shrug*

Unfortunately that may not be too likely this year. There are very few worth while goalie prospects in this years draft. Samu Perhonen out of Finland is the only guy that looks like he could ever contend for an NHL team.

But then again there are always surprises every draft so there could be a diamond out there somewhere.

Happy to have Mark McNeill, I am surprised he dropped to 18th. Also surprised at the trade by the Hawks sending Troy Brouwer to Wash for their pick. I am going to assume Cap issue since he is a RFA this year and they didnt expect to hang onto him.

After getting rid of Campbell you guys now have $14M in cap space to fill out your roster.

Yeah that trade came out after I posted that...or at least I heard about it after I made the post. They could be looking to extend the contract of Sharp and probably sign additional defensemen since Campbell's contract was worth 2 decent D-men money wise.

The Canucks may be able to draft some more Swedish Twins :awe:

They've just drafted Pathrik Westerholm, and his twin brother Ponthus is available.

I'm surprised the Kings were able to pull the #2 ranked goalie. If he turns out decent this could be very beneficial in a few years when Quick gets super expensive and Bernier gets much better and more expensive so they can trade him out to someone for something good. They both come up on contract at the same time in 2 years and there's no way in hell we'd be able to keep both. It's probably a waste of Bernier's potential to be playing 2nd fiddle to Quick anyway.

And then Kopecky, what a steal by Florida.

I am very happy with the Avalanches picks, I nailed both of them.

Can't believe Philly got Couturier with 8, that's just idiocy. Thanks Winnipeg! 😡

Dumbasses.

I criticized that Carter trade, but this kid is really good. Big with a complete skillset. If he can get in, in the next couple of years and produce, they may have lucked out. I guess the only thing that just makes me question these moves are the fact the bulk of the team is built to win now. Brizzy ain't 25 and the players they are really relying on to win now are older, Briere, Hartnell, Pronger, Kimmo.

I like Giroux, but now he will see the top defensive pair, he will have to elevate his game from last year just keep par.

Kopecky is shit. He was on the top line last year because of the Hawks situation and was horrible on defensive play.

Caps overpaid on the Laich deal.

For a 7th round pick? I think thats a steal. Blackhawks have given up too much so far this offseason with Brouwer and now Kopecky, both were steals IMO.

I agree that Laich got way too much money. The dude is going to be a 3rd line center in a couple years any way so thats saying a lot.

It's not like Giroux is by himself though. They still have Briere, JVR, Leino, Hartnell, and Schenn should be ready to produce. That's a good top six. Aside from that Couturier might be ready to step in right away. He was the top prospect not six months ago.

They don't still have Leino yet, afaik. And they let Carcillo go. Much is changing out there in ole Philly.

BTW, "Rumor: Dustin Brown to Toronto." All the proof I ever needed that HockeyBuzz is shit. Like the Kings would give away someone of his caliber at his pay rate away, especially now that he can be on a line with Richards for ultimate scoring steam rolling? Ridiculous.

Yeah, you're right about Leino. After the Richards and Carter trades I figured they'd sign him, but they haven't done it yet.

As much as I hate Eklund (Hockeybuzz) I heard that he actually broke all the Flyer trades. Doesn't seem possible.

Yea Toronto has shit that LA needs

Actually as someone who has followed all things hockey for a while, I can vouch that Eklund has 1 or 2 actual legitimate leads. And they're all in Phili.

Another #NHL jackpot winner in the state Florida. #Panthers who acquired Tomas Kopecky for a draft pick agrees to a 4 year/ 12M deal.

I thought the trade for his rights was a good move but didn't realize they were going to offer him so much cash.

NY Islanders give 4th rounder for Christian Erhoff's rights, probably a great move if they can sign him

Does the NHL still give compensation picks for teams that lose UFAs? Hard to imagine the Islanders are going to pony up for Erhoff when they're still writing checks to Alexei Yashin.
