Official 2011 NFL Draft Thread.

I didn't see this anywhere so I started it.
Draft starts in 45 minutes.

Remember, draftees, your local Mercedes Benz dealership is open until midnight..

Roger Goodell gets booed, mixed in with chants of "let them play", and I think Newton was the only player to get booed.

Tonite you will see a miraculous site. In the space of a nanosecond a college player will go from hating the NFLPA and opposing everything it stands for, to loving and adoring the NFLPA and supporting everything it stands for.

btw this may be the luckiest group of players ever drafted. They could get the advantages of no limits on their first contracts, yet after a new deal is done they could benefit from the limits on incoming future draftees diverting more money to todays draftees when they sign their next contract as veterans.

it sucks no trades of existing players can occur. this is going to be one messed up draft

I think it makes it more interesting.

Now a team needs to get the player it needs from the draft. And the only thing they can use to get them is trading draft picks. Gonna be an interesting draft, I think.

i doubt very much any contracts will be done till they have new agreement

Hmm. Can they do that? Retroactively impose a salary cap on the draftees?
If they can, then if the NFL teams stall and don't sign a player before the new agreement they will be sued. I beleive that would violate anti trust laws as well as the court injunction in place.

I kinda hate how they show the players talking on their cell phone and smiling right before a pick is announced, takes the suspense out of it.

And on the home page of the Denver Post:

NFL draft live: Broncos prepping for No. 2 pick, open to trades

OH JOY! What are we going to do this time? Trade Kyle Orton, Tim Tebow and Champ Bailey for Chris Henry?

Bengals probably go that LSU cornerback, and draft either Locker, Mallet, or Dalton whichever is available in the 2nd.
