damn, the cost of my early retirement has just gone up. I did try to buy 5000 more shares yesterday, but everytime I put in the bid, someone else would put in a bid that was 0.0001 higher. I cancelled the order after a few times of that.

I rarely see orphan status news move a stock price like this thou, up a few cents maybe, but not 30%. I could either continue to buy or I could take a chance by selling some now and buy back at a lower price. The problem is that we might never see this stock at under a buck EVER....

I agree. I think GNVC has been waiting for some news though - and was ready to take off on anything good. Nice volume already today (1.36M). I was trying to buy more shares yesterday too! Oh well, I think it'll calm back down today - and then I'll get my stinking buy in at .75! 🙂

I still own HGSI and some Call options.

Yours is out of a retirement account isn't it? I decided to lock in a couple times now, I bought large at the 2.xx price, good god that was amazing. Then I bought back around 18 last week and sold at 27.

Thanks for putting this on the radar. My taxes this year are going to be interesting.

yes, the stock is in my regular account. I try to do most of my trading out of my IRA account. I sold all my Nov 22 calls yesterday at $6.05 that I paid $3.40 for them. my taxes this year should be fun too, uncle sam is gonna love me.

think I mis-read your question, but oh well.

What do you guys think of WFR? I got in at ~$12.50, a lot of people didn't like their recent purchase of SunEdison but they've got $250M cash vs. $30M debt and it's dropped 30% over the last month and a half, seems like a solid company at a good price.

edit: I lied, apparrently they have $800M cash. Not sure where I got the other number.

more news from GNVC today:

GenVec signs $22 mln vaccine contract, shares up 11/05 11:03 AM

lol - what'd ya have that did well?

It's not a matter of what I had that did well. It's a matter of what my competitor had that didn't.

CVS(a Cramer stock and a Wall St fad favorite) stock was down -20% yesterday on news that they lost $4 billion worth of contracts. They also issued a profit warning.
I'm sure the Walgreens execs were doing cartwheels down the hallway yesterday on the news like I was.

Cramer has been preaching "dump WAG and ESRX, buy CVS" the past 2 years.

I wonder who they lost those billions of contracts to...ESRX? MHS?
A loss for them is a gain for one of the others. I own ESRX,
I recieved more FWD: emails yesterday than I've ever recieved the past 2 years.

Typical swings, its been bouncing predictably between 16-19 for the past few months and will continue to do so until the trial nears. Use this to your advantage.

It bounced back from a major support line, and today's move, which is now over 10%, has been fueled by yet another round of settlement rumors.

One day it's going to turn out to be real and the stock won't be trading only 10%, but 100%++++.

BTW, the AT trial pre-news is extremely favorable to Rambus. Once this trial actually starts in January (if no settlements beforehand), the real fun begins.

Undoubtedly triggered by my selling jan calls this past friday.

Slight trick to options trading, if the time to settle is going to be longer than you initially suspected, sell your near term calls and buy longer term ones at the same time. You typically want to do this at least a month before the near term ones expire, as out of the money options quickly go to zero near expiry.

Anyone know why JAVA popped up 4% today? The EU announced on the Tuesday it's objection to the merger but why did it pop back up today?

I couldn't find any new news ....

I doubled up on my puts on XLF.

I've gone from bull to bear, and think we're going to experience a huge crash that's going to be spearheaded by financials.

Still long on select names mentioned in this thread.

Did you sell your puts yet ? If you sold them a week or so ago, you would have made more than double.

I think we should create an anandtech twitter or use covestor.com to follow other anandtech users investments.

BIEL moving up fast.....tylenol study completed and due out monday.....made a lot of money on this one

Make sure to take your profits with penny/high risk stocks. I momo traded BIEL/SPNG/UCBH. All fell sharply within a few hours to a day after I took profits.

what is that website that one can watch fund managers/pros do their real time trades? I read an article about, seems like a cool site, but forgot to check it out.
