so RMBS bought this Global Lighting Technologies for 26mil..is this a good fit? They do have a lot of patents, maybe RMBS will now go after all monitor makers?? LOL.
They are swallowing up Global Lighting Technologies and bringing 12 members of its staff into the Rambus team, including the current CEO of GLT. They also acquire GLT's patents on LED backlighting technology. Samsung is a PAYING customer of GLT (along with many big names, ie: Dell)
Now here's what is interesting to me...
Today, after one day of Rambus announcing this news, Samsung comes out with a press release announcing they are switching all their monitors to LED backlight technology by next year:

Couple this with the announcement that Samsung's current CEO is stepping down and being replaced:

There have been many instances where the CEO of a company steps down right before a major event happens. In Asia (I'm Vietnamese), leadership steps down to soften the blow of something negative. People can blame the one stepping down, but the company just hired a new CEO and is seen as "switching directions" to not make mistakes again.
So...
#1. Samsung CEO steps down.
#2. Samsung announces switching all their monitors to LED backlight the day after Rambus buys GLT, a company holding key patents to this technology.
#3. Samsung announces production of 1gb Rambus XDR memory last week.
Who knows what this means. Maybe Rambus will offer GLT's patents as part of the licensing and settlement offer. Part of the market clearly recognizes the potential signs here as Rambus is heading towards it's $26 resistance on sizeable volume.
Either way, I'm just excited for January and the start of the AT Trial (with or without Samsung). Lets hope the ITC goes well and doesn't put a dent into things.
All Roads Lead to Rambus,

EDIT: Rambus ascended to a new 52-week high of over $23+ on volume, which is good. What is not good is it's falling down along with the market - makes the pop look bad on the charts. Boo.
Countdown to New Years, but also make a countdown to Jan. 11th (when jury selection begins and the trial is "officially" starting).
