Should have known better? Looks like they did finally realize they should sit back down. The rules worked...the players sat back down after they realized...but it's an uncontrollable reflex to get up when something as shocking as that happens especially to a team mate.

again the league will have to decide if that is the case. they shouldnt have left the bench period though

It would be a make up call for not suspending bowen for deliberately kneeing nash in the balls.

I understand the concept, played team sports a hell of a lot more than you, but I also know the rules. What was Bell, Diaw, and Stoudemire going to accomplish by going after Horry besides getting themselves in trouble? Were they going to beat him up? :roll:

Accomplish? Defending the heart and soul and backbone of your team doesn't require you knocking an opposing player out. They were going to give Horry a piece of their mind if anything, and who can blame them the way this series is going.

News flash: Stoudemire WON'T be suspended for a combination of reasons. The first being that the league KNOWS Bowen tried to kick out his Achilles, but the action wasn't conclusive enough to really do anything about it and this would be their way of making up for it. The other reason being he was coming off the bench to check-in BEFORE there was ever a confrontation. The Suns were playing offense/defense and it was his time to come back in. And if you want to get into semantics, it looked more like he was checking on Nash through a crowd of people to see if his running mate was alright, rather then wanting to go after Horry (though I'm sure he was pissed). The league will acknowledge all this and it's my feeling they will not punish him. Diaw might be suspended, however Horry for Diaw is a trade I'm sure both teams can live with for a night.

So I say he WAS going to check-in and D'Antoni confirmed my suspicion by saying it in the postgame press conference.

Phoenix got a lot of favorable calls in that game but the spurs just couldn't make a shot in the 4th. Don't know what horry was thinking that game was pretty much over but I'm sure amare and diaw will be suspended for one game if the league goes by the letter of the law. This is the only good series left and the nba wants to milk it as much as possible.

I agree with what you said, nice post.

If they do suspend Amare then they should also look at TD when he came off the bench in the second quarter when one of the suns(dont know who) hung on the rim longer than he should have. TD on the bench at the time walked onto the court like he was going to go after him. Does anyone know about that?? Heard it from Jalen Rose when he told ESPN.

Yep, I've heard that a number of Spurs players went on the court. Unfortunately, there aren't any camera angles of the Spurs bench at the time. It is complete BS if Amare and Diaw get suspended but no Spurs get suspended. If you enforce the rules, enforce them for everyone.

Amare won't be suspended neither will the other spurs that stepped slight on the court.

They were defending their leader.

The only person who will be suspended will be Robert Horry. Which I was shocked that he would do a body check like that. That was beyond hard fouling. Yes you punish guys like nash, barbosa, parker for diving into the paint to send them a message but what horry did was totally out of line.

The Nba I think is gonna let some of the hard fouling slide, as long as its relatively with in reasonable basketball play. Body checks, and throwing punches they'll suspend you for.

Interestingly enough, Duncan and Bowen could be suspended for game 5 but NOT for the incident at the end of the game. Remember when James Jones undercut Elson? Jones and Elson shove each other and Duncan and Bowen come onto the court, almost to the 3pt line! It's around the 9:08 mark in the 2qtr if anyone else has Tivo.

Credit to Jalen Rose for pointing this out to the media. It sucks that he doesn't get playing time, but his veteran presence is invaluable and now his keen observation is also invaluable. 😉

So, NBA...it's your move now.

Yup, heard this on Dan Patrick's show this morning when Kerr pointed that out. If Stoudemire is suspended and Duncan and Bowen aren't, the NBA will lose very much of it's integrity. It's ridiculous the media is all over Stoudemire for this.

You morons who thought they weren't going to get suspended have not watched or followed basketball in the last couple of years. Just about every time a guy has gotten up off the bench for whatever reason during a fight has resulted in a 1-game suspension. The rule is incredibly strict about this and for good reason.

The punishment has to be so severe so that we never see a bench clearing brawl like the one that happened in Detroit or Miami. You can bet your ass Amare and Diaw will never think of doing that again. And please what the hell were they going to accomplish by getting in Horry's face and starting a fight. If they had thrown punches, automatic suspension. You get back at the team by showing how unfazed you are by dirty play. You get your ass up and you shove it in their face by stealing a game on the road and going back home and torching them. This is what true champions would have done.

The Suns have shown that they are immature, they do not have the veterans on their team to take them to the Finals quite yet. Side note, did you see one Spurs player get up off the bench during that altercation?

it's one thing to punish someone for wrong-doing, it's literal idiocy to be unreasonable and mess up an important series.

Did Amare and Diaw stood up to fight back? We'd never know, but a suspension for just standing up is uncalled for.

I say drop the stupid rule, and slap the guy for min 10 game suspension if he indeed gets involved in the fight or act of fight.

Horry knocks out a player and he gets only one more game suspension than Amare who just stood there? crazy.

Depends IMO(i know it doesnt matter) it would be and if there would have been one little push TD & Bowen would be gone just beause they were up & the intention from TD was the same as Amare's.

How many Spurs players have been body-checked? How many have been kneed in the nuts? Yep, the Spurs are the epitome of maturity. It was a natural reaction. They're human. Now, if they would've started throwing punches it would be a different story.
