I didn't blame the loss on anyone, actually I said nothing about the loss. I said we can't fight both the Spurs and the Refs.
You can't look at that game and tell me that it wasn't called poorly. Detroit has been getting bad calls the entire playoffs. NOT ONCE did Shaq get called for double dribbling. Look at last game with Ginobili's charge into Ben Wallace at the 3-point line, and Ben getting called for the foul. Look at Ben's charging foul when he was clearly within the circle. Hamilton's call tonight for reaching that blatently was a jump ball, Tim Duncan's inability to inbound the ball in the 4th being disregarded and given as Spurs' ball.
The Pistons weren't playing their best tonight, given, but they can't play well at all with fouls being called left and right. 28 points of the Spurs 97 were free throws. 10 of detroits were. 34 attempted free throws for the spurs tonight. 16 for detroit.
Pistons in 6
I'm rooting for the spurs, but think they got the benefit of the doubt on the calls. That's a little home cooking for the spurs that will change in detroit. Refs also give benefit of the doubt to the team thats playing a lot better too...and that's w/o question the spurs.
The pistons beat miami because defensively they close on the ball so fast, but as good as they are with that, they have lead feet compared to the spurs ability to close.
Throw in the fact that they have no answer for the spurs slashers ginobili and parker, the spurs are getting all of their players great open looks while detroit has gotten almost ZERO open looks, except on some breaks. They are going to need a helluva lot more than the refs on their side. Until the pistons start getting plenty of open looks, they don't have a chance, because they aren't even slowing down the spurs.
Duncan, Horry, and Ginobili are probably 3 of the top 'winners' in the league...they play the best in the most pressured situations, and never seem to make the same mistake twice. And detroit is playing frustrated, because they're used to causing other teams surrender the ball and make bad decisions, but its not happening that way with the spurs.
Spurs in 5...detroit will find a way to make enough miracle shots tuesday or thursday, while the spurs will throw up too many 3pt bricks...then the pistons will roll over.
