Wow my Wild spent some $$ this offseason. Hopefully it pays off (we better make the playoffs this time around).

Bruins have been looking good so far, except for their opener which they didn't start a lot of guys. We are 4-1 in the preseason...and it looks like Savard and Murray are developing some chemistry. Kessel is also turning heads so far, and the B's are probably going to play him on one of the top two lines...

Also, it's expected that Chara will be the Captain...

WOW!

The Carolina Hurricanes have traded the rights to defenceman Jack Johnson and defenceman Oleg Tverdovsky to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for defenceman Tim Gleason and centre Eric Belanger.

The Hurricanes were in need of some immediate defensive help after losing Aaron Ward to free agency and Frantisek Kaberle for up to six months because of shoulder surgery. Johnson did not want to sign with Carolina this season because he wanted to return to the University of Michigan.

''This deal improves our forward lines and adds a very good, young defenseman with NHL experience to the Hurricanes,'' Carolina general manager Jim Rutherford said. ''Eric and Tim strengthen the balance of our team.''

Johnson, who the Hurricanes picked third overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, is a highly regarded prospect. He tallied ten goals, 22 assists and 149 penalty minutes in 38 games for the University of Michigan last season.

Tverdovsky scored three goals and chipped in 20 assists (12 on the power play) in 72 games with the Hurricanes last season. In 687 career NHL games he has 77 goals and 236 assists. He has two years and $5 million remaining on his contract.

In 78 games with the Kings last season, Gleason scored two goals and assisted on 19 others. The Kings re-signed Gleason, who will earn $1.2 million this season, as a restricted free agent to a two-year deal on September 17.

Belanger put up 17 goals and 20 assists in 65 games with the Kings last year. In 323 career NHL games he has 63 goals and 87 assists. He will make $1.3 million this season

Two more days! I'll be stuck working Wednesday night, but I doubt I'd be able to watch the game anyway. Hopefully the Sabres can exact some revenge on the Hurricanes.

go sharks go!

😀

the devils have got off really easy (imo) with the moginly LTI/San jose trade. Though i guess a team that has such strong young talent development couldn't pass on the chance to snatch a first rounder (even though it's from NJ) for a fahey.

Go Pens!

Go Flyers!

Bo Sabres!

Go Leafs!

Basically my top 4 teams. Like them all equally. It's fun being a fan of multiple teams .... I'm always in the palyoffs 🙂

Grew up near Buffalo. Thus I like The Sabres. Usually a well rounded team which I appreciate.

Doug Gilmour is probably my favorite player ever. Thus Go Leafs!!

First favorite player ever:
Insane goallie. Insane, litterally, not insanely good

And I've liked the Penns ever since NHL came back. I hope to see the phenom (Crosby) grow. And Jordan Staal should be good to watch. And there is that Evgeni Malkin guy. Should be an interesting year for the Penns. Probably not great ... but some good young talent is joining the team. And I hoep to see Crosby grow. His talent is obvious ... but I think at hte end of last season ... he hadn't yet adjsuted to the new level of play. Whcih is ascary thought as he didn't exactly do that bad.

w00t 🙂

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO HOCKEY IS BACK! 😀

Sweet... ready to watch the puck drop between Leafs / Sens... I picked Alfredsson in my pool and Briere too! POOL TIME!!!!! *drools*

Yes! Carolina goes down in a shootout. Miller stopped all 3 of Carolina's attempts. Briere got it past Ward, and that's all Buffalo needed.

Ottawa-Toronto rematch this evening. Let's see it the Buds can skate with us for more than one period (hopefully not).😛
