**Offical Lost Odyssey Thread**

I believe the consensus is that it's better than Blue Dragon. However, I'm passing since I still have tons of other games to play. I'd love to try it though.

Is this the game that is supposed to be emotional and tear-worthy, or is that another JRPG coming out? They all blend in my head.

I'll have to read up on this game and see if it warrants removing GHIII from my Xbox360.

I saw a commercial for it on TV about an hour ago and though "Damn I might have to pick up a PS3 soon." Then I saw it was for the 360 and I went :Q

Actually there are several for the ps3 already.

I might pick it up down the road (or at least rent it). I have too many damn games that I picked up used over xmas break to buy anything else right now. I still have a bunch of older games that I want to play through (GRAW 1 and 2, R6:V, Kameo, N3, Lost Planet, etc...). Now if only I could stop playing fecking CoD4 and Viva Pinata... I must curb my addiction...

didn't these used to be called RPGs? Now they're JRPGs? Just call them RPGs.

Well since there is a very prominent difference between WRPGs and JRPGs, further specification than simply RPG is often necessary.

Holy crap, does this really come on four DVDs?

I'd like to check it out eventually, but probably won't be doing so anytime soon. I'm kind of tired of turn-based RPGs but I'm willing to give it a shot.

I have it pre-ordered. There's currently a review up at IGN and they said it was pretty good except how they included weird stealth missions (I think only one I can't remember) into the game and some slowdowns during casting and such. The game uses UE3.

I just hope the music is good... I wasn't a fan of BD's JRock boss battle theme 😛. It totally did not fit.

What I'm really looking forward to is Shin Sangoku Musou 5 (Dynasty Warriors 6, difference in numbers because the first Dynasty Warriors was a crappy fighting game for the PSX). I wish it were coming out this week and that they'd include online co-op 🙁.

GameSpy, whom I usually trust, gave the game a 2.5 out of 5. That alone is enough to make me think twice about this game. I'll wait for the full battery of reviews, and then make a decision.

The 360 has always had more JRPGs than the PS3, interestingly enough. I'm not sure the genre really makes or breaks a console like it used to.

Yeah, it's very story/cut-scene intensive from what I've read. There's virtually no change in the standard JRPG turn-based mechanics. In an interview, the creator said he wanted to concentrate on making a compelling story.

I guess we'll see if that pays off or not....

Edit: Current Metacritic score - 72

Doesn't sound like the reviewers are enamored with Lost Odyssey keeping the standard Final Fantasy gameplay.

Blue Dragon was 4 disks, and I could hardly believe I completed it. I should have a first impression of this game some time this week.

You probably missed out on the special missions.

You're right--my bad! It sure felt like 4 disks towards the end.

I haven't played a turn based RPG for ages so I'm getting this. Got mine prebought at amazon and should be here Thursday. Looking forward to it. The GameTrailers.com review was really good.
