well i guess they showed the real reason not to try it, is that jeter didnt get 2nd base because of it

forgive my ignorance, I'm a football and rugby player. If you can try to knock the ball out at home plate, then why not for other tags?

it is kind of interesting that a runner can bowl a defender over but can't use his hand to knock a ball out.

but those are the rules and arod should have known it.
